My Mom was diagnosed 2 1/2 weeks ago with breast cancer.  She has been to see the surgeon once and has waited 10 days to see the oncologist whom she sees tomorrow.  I know that everyone says the waiting is horrible.  They aren't lying either.  But as of yet no one has ordered the CT scan, MRI, or even blood work.  Who usually orders this?  Oncologist?  Surgeon?  Is it normal to wait this long?  I have so many questions and I guess I will start with these.

    Hi Luthergirl 2002

The waiting between diagnosis, mastectomy and afterwards was I think  worse than having my breast removed. I too had no idea of the breast cancer territory when I started out, but this webpage soon took care of that, to the point where I now know about my cancer, can make informed decisions. Make lists of questions for the oncologist, what kind of cancer,  etc. And if your mom is ok with you going, maybe sit in on the appointment. My 12 year old son was involved since the beginning, he knew the ps and I guess that helped not being totally overwhelmed.

    One step at a time.

    Hi there,

Sounds like things are similar with your mom and my mom. How did things work out? Did you get the tests done? My mom had an MRI today- waiting on those results so her radiologist (I think) can read them.

    Hope you are well!!! XOXO

    Hi Steph

How is your mom? I am 4 months post mastectomy and doing brilliantly. This BC has been a catalyst for so many things. My son hasstarted to give me some attitude - says  I can't use the BC excuse anymore.

    So life is pretty good.
    TAKE CARE
