I can't get my act together and I don't know why

Bren.
I had a double mastectomy and lost just exactly 5 lbs, in the 3 days I was in hospital...and it wasn't the hospital food making me lose, because it was just superb. Nope...it was all prime cut lean boobs !!

This sure is a fun thread.
My drawers and closets are pretty bad. Im afraid what I will find once I get settled into cleaning them.
Underpants - never wore thongs. Italian mom always said good old fashioned cotton undies. How boring!
You all made me smile.
-
Oh lord, I came on to confess my sock drawer is still as bad as ever, feeling a bit down. Heck - I spent the morning with the financial planner explaining/excusing things: "It seemed like a good idea at the time" "Oh yeah, we forgot about that one" "Well, you know it's ah - funds and stuff" "Ah, no we haven't done anything about that yet".
However Deb's title of "10 women 6 boobs" cheered me up enormously - maybe enough to do my socks tomorrow. Seriously that could be one knock their socks off comedy routine. And I will have enough extra socks to supply them.
-
i never got my drawer done either and i blame all of you. i was on here playing with you yesterday, so the stuff i didn't get done yesterday i had to do today...so no time for underwear drawer.
how's that sound? does it fly?

p.s. i'm not lying like i said i might. i really did have to work all day long today on a job i was helping a friend out with. now i'm too tired to do anything else.
-
re weight loss and loss of boobs....i had a lumpectomy and i gained 30 pounds. i can't believe how much that crater that was left behind weighs. it's mind boggling and defies the laws of physics all at the same time.
-
g- I think they install a little tiny black hole in our body each time they do a surgery. If All the Star Trek my DH watched in our younger days taught me anything, it is that black hole are sneeky HEAVY things.....that is my story and I'm sticking with it. Blame it all on Captin Kirk.....
-
Isabella, if you lost 5 lbs by losing two boobs, I wonder how much I lost losing one? Might be how big they are, right?
Miss S, the problem with me not wearing my boob is...I've got that other real boob, and I would really look lopsided if I didn't wear the fake one. I know what I can do. I can put the boob in my mast bra, but not the pocket. I always take my shoes off before getting on the scale..don't wanna fall
. I could take out my boob when I take off my shoes. Then, when I go into the examining room I can put my boob back in my bra. Won't have time to put it in the pocket cuz the doc is pretty much on time. I could go into the bathroom after I see him and stick it in the pocket cuz if I go somewhere else I don't want to lose it and freak everyone out. Oh, I don't have to change into a gown when I see my primary.I haven't done my drawer either. I didn't feel real good today. Is that a good enough excuse. Now I need to get off here and use the curling iron on my hair and then start cooking.
Bye for now.

I had a bilat mast and did not lose any weight in the hospital. It was those sneaky tissue expanders, I know it!!!!!! Drawer not done either today.Oh Well!!! Tomorrow is another day!!!!!! Shirley,
You are TOO funny!! Your comments about your boob and where to put it, it's just hilarious! Now I am remembering before my reconstruction surgery, I wore those 'foam' boobs, and one time I went to my onc's office, and had chemo, I guess it was my 2nd tx, I got home, and changed out of my clothes... only I shook out my shirt and looked under the bed, and in the laundry hamper, and...still, I couldn't find that foam boob... Then, to my chagrin, I was walking outside, and in front of my house, in my DRIVEWAY, what did I find? My other foam boob!! I picked it up real quick, and hoped NO ONE in my neighborhood saw it...
No, I haven't cleaned out any of my drawers, either...

So what did Shirley's daughter have around her neck? A very large handcuff? A feather boa? A diamond snake? A necktie?
Any other guesses?
-
I cannot figure out for the dickens what Shirley's daughter had around her neck. We have had a lot of thong talk. Maybe it was a thong. I will have to find out tomorrow. Need a good night's sleep. Please, Please, Please, tell us, Shirley. I can't stand the suspense.
Kerry

I have my suspicions, but... I don't know if I can say it on this board, without being kicked off...permanently... My neighbor had a bachelorette party for her dd last year, and she bought these party favors at a 'naughty' store... and there was this necklace, and it had a man's ..... on it! Was THAT what your DD wore around her neck?? Come on, Shirley, please, tell us!!
Harley
-
Harley,
Do you mean a man's bachelor part? A thingie? A whackerdoodle? A, um, rhymes with "mildo"?
-
Ding, Ding, Ding....I think she's GOT it! LOLOLO...Rhymes with MILDO????? I am still laughing! whackerdoodle? LOLOL
-
What the hell is a whackerdoodle? That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. I'm going to ask Tim about this when he gets home tomorrow!!
-
It's a padded oosik.
-
Well, I have an idea that you gals are putting subliminal thoughts in my head: I CLEANED OUT MY CLOSET!!!!!!!!
filled a huge bag for Good Samaritans and threw away 20 shoe boxes!
Moved my winter stuff to the other closet and moved in my summer stuff -- just in time for blackberry winter! It never fails to get really cold or really warm whenever I change clothing. Funny thing is that i live in t-shirts and gads I sure do have a lot of them. I have them all on hanges---no space in the drawers, too full of crap.
I sold all my suits and heels the summer I retired--now, I have one good pair of black slacks and a black linen dress for funerals or what ever! Everything else is jeans and knit pants and a few linen shirts.
I cannot believe how much room is left with all the sweatshirts in the cedar chest!
Ok, I'll quit showing off and just go look at the closet, may never see that floor again in my lifetime---even took up all the dust bunnies.
-
Dottie, Wow, good for you. I could not do it!!! Not yet. Maybe soon.
Ladies, The thing around the neck? Do you mean like a soap on a rope? Only this is a MILDO?? That is histerical. LOL,LOL,LOL.
Kerry
Ps, What is an oosik???? I missed that post.
-
Yeah, I WIN!

I am so glad I am home alone tonight, I am screaming out loud laughing and tears are rolling down my face!!!
I think if I have a burglar looking in my windows he will turn tail and run for the hills if he spies me!
Trouble is we may never know what Shirleys daughter had round her neck as Shirley has upped and gone out for lunch today, it could be hours before we find out the truth of the matter !!
The suspense is killing me, I see a heart attack on my horizon with all the laughing and crying I am doing.
Isabella.

Hi Ladies,
Shirley is certainly having a LONG LUNCH!!!! My next question is.........Was it edible? Like candy?...... Sorry, I am in the gutter and I know it..Remember those candy necklaces that you could buy as a kid. They were like hard candies and were like the shape of a doughnut and were all different colours and were strung on an elastic string and you wore them around your neck and ate them. Do you know what I mean?
Maybe I should go over to the MOJO thread!!!!!OMG!!!!!
Kerry
-
Kerry,
Yes, only this necklace didn't have ROUND candies. I think they were maybe, uh, cylindrical?
Would we call that a "dandy" necklace?
Sue
P.S. Where, oh where is Shirley?? We are lost in the woods........
-
O.K. LMAO!!!!!!! That is all I can say!!!!!!
Shirley, where are you? Was it this kind of necklace?
MOJO thread here I come!!!!LOL,LOL,LOL,
Kerry
PS, I still have not cleaned out my underwear drawer yet!!!!!
-
First of all I want to congratulate Dotti on doing an inconceivable, incredible, unbelievably, fantastic job! She's not been sitting around worrying about what my dd wore around her neck. She's been one busy lady! We can really tell whose worthless around here and can't get their act together.
My excuse...I had lunch out. Then I had errands to run. I'm tared. I haven't eaten dinner. I think I'll skip it and hope to lose 8 ounces. Only had a small salad for lunch. But had a great time with my dear friend.
My excuse tomorrow for not cleaning out my drawer (yep, I've already got one made up!). I'm going to bake my other friend who had the liver biopsy yesterday a chocolate cake, AND I am not eating, nor saving ANY for us. It will be a surprise for her.
Let me tell you about my friend and what she went through to have this liver biopsy. When she had one many years ago they gave her valium and knocked her out. Well, she went in there yesterday and told them she didn't want to be awake. They said she'd be asleep. Well, the started digging for the IV. Now mind you, she had nothing to eat or drink since 7PM the night prior to this procedure and it is after one o'clock (dehydrated, ya think). Okay, so they go to a different spot and get a vein...it blew! OUCH! She was crying she was hurting so badly. Soooooo, they decided to call in the IV team (BTW, she's at Duke). Soooo, the IV team gets to her and was kind enough to use the "Cain brothers" which helped a bit. However, the IV nurse said they don't like them using this, but she's a special patient. Sooooooo, the IV team got the vein...IT BLEW! My friend is a nurse so she suggested trying the elbow (inside, but she called it something else..medical jargon). It worked! Okay, now she's ready, but noooooooooooooo, she's not asleep. She told them she wasn't asleep. Well, they did the biopsy which only took a minute. The ordeal prior to the biopsy was so much worse than the biopsy itself.
She was all in a dither before anything started. I didn't want to ask anyone here what it was like to have a liver biopsy. I asked her why she didn't ask her rheumy for some valium to take prior to the procedure. You know what she said!!?? He laughed at her! WTH! I would have put in his mouth what my dd was wearing around her neck!
Now, I know you are all sitting on pins and needles to know what dd was wearing. I'm too tired to tell you.
Shirley
Besides, ya'll are already probably in bed. I believe it's on the groan and moan thread that I tried to start reading ealier today that I read where ya'll (southern) were trying to figure out the necklace she was wearing. Don't ya'll have anything better to do?

I know ya'll wanted to hear about my friend and her biopsy.
-
Okay, here's the answer. Harley, you got it! You win the necklace, and next time we go to lunch I shall present it to you and you must wear it. Yes, it looked like a "mildo." If I had pics I'd scan'em and PM them to you. But I don't have pics and I no longer have a scanner.
Hope ya'll get a great nights sleep! I'm gonna put my pj's on. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to read the other thread..moan and groan.
Shirley
-
OMG, that is just the best! Loved it and laughing like a fool.
-
OK. Now, finally, I can go to bed and get some sleep.

Shirley,
You got class, babes.

I love this thread. It's better than a shrink!
Thanks for clearing that up Shirley. I can't wait to see where this thread goes next. In just a matter of days we've gone from obsessing over cake, discussing saggy boobs, thong underwear, cleaning out drawers and what was around Shirley's dds neck.
I skipped out on the cleaning conversation. . .knew I wouldn't do it but I'm proud of those who made the effort. Maybe I'll get there sometime. . .I'm just too tired to push myself now. I did a lot of cleaning out last year after my diagnosis, helped to keep my mind on something else. Problem was that I ended up giving a bunch of my good clothes to Goodwill without realizing it until I was looking to wear them. My mind obviously wasn't on the cleaning when I thought it was. . .LOL. Oh well, it was a good excuse to buy some new things.
I did clear a small space on the top of my desk today. . .I needed a place to write. It's a start. . .

Shirley: Hey, I need to be brought up to speed on the mildo. Is the discussion in the bitch thread? I'll have to check it out later today from work. I need to go exercise this morning. Nothing fits and when I say nothing, I mean nothing. It's nerve wracking getting ready for work and I refuse to buy anything at this size.
dotti: wonderful that you got your closet cleaned. i should ban you for making the rest of us look bad, but i love you too much.
sheila: feel free to jump in any cleaning discussion even if you know you won't get it done. that's what most of us do. Plus, lying is always an option. We have no problem with that...as long as you tell us upfront you're lying.
Harley: welcome back!
Kerry: On oosik is a walrus's weenie bone. Discussion is in the thread entitled "Alaska Deb" in the recurrence & metastatic disease forum. I just bumped the thread for you.
hello to anyone I haven't specifically addressed. I'm running out of time!
