Running after SGAP

    Hi All,

I used to run before my SGAP (just 3-8 miles/day).  SGAP is where they take fat from butt to form breast.  Yesterday I raced with my kids--OUCH!  My butt hurts so much; only when running.  It has been 8 weeks since surgery.  Any suggestions?

    Much appreciated.

Have you tried to build up your butt muscles?  I think that might help.

    Jross,

Great idea-haven't thought of that.  I have just been walking on treadmill but will do some butt exercises.

    Thanks,

Hi JMJ, I'm from the North Shore of Boston (Ipswich).  Great idea to build your butt muscles.  With your treadmill, increase the incline so you are using your butt muscles.  Also there are great exercises for your butt including lunges that will really strengthen.

    Take care,

    Debbie

Thanks, Debbie for the great advice.  I didn't think of inclining treadmill.

I know the Maglio family from Ipswich; my husband is from Boxford (small world).

    Thanks again,

    JMJ

    Hi, JMJ...

I had an IGAP and started running again about five weeks out, but the fat was taken from the bottom of my butt near the crease, not the top as with an SGAP. Sadly, I could run and do front snap, roundhouse and side kicks a month and a half out from surgery, but I couldn't sit comfortably for quite a while longer!

Debbie's treadmill on incline idea is a great one for making your glutes stronger. Have fun...

    Hi Felicia,

Thanks for the information! Maybe some kickboxing, at low rates, may help too.
