My breast is hurting

Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer March 7 and had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed April 2. I saw the Oncologist last Tuesday May 29th and I will be taking Chemo and Radiation. Naturally I was very sore after the surgery but I have other problems now and wondered if anyone else had experienced them. The stitches in my incision ripped and I have an open place now that is about 1 inch long and seems to be getting wider with time. The Oncologist said also that it looked like the blood vessels under the breast had burst. I have three open places now under the breast from the blood blister looking places. They are small but oozing some blood from them. My breast really really hurts underneath where the blood vessels have broken. Anyone else had this happen to them and what did they do that would help the pain?? I'm wearing a sports bra all the time now and it will still hurt when I get up from a chair or any kind of bump like from riding in a car. I just don't know what to do. I'm going back to see my surgeon tomorrow but there's got to be something else I can do that will help. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hey I am from Australia. My breast is swollen with blood clots and fluid from the drainage under my arm. I have trouble sleeping at night and the surgeon keeps on aspirating the fluid. I can empathise with you on the sore breast but my wounds have not opened. I am going for physio tomorrow to get the Stranding issue fixed as my arm is sore where they took the lymph nodes.
I am sure you are not alone in your predicament. Keep smiling. I am sure it will get better. Take care and just see this as another bump in the journey to recovery.
Best wishes

danismom,
I also had this happen and my wound as it was infected and is the reason why the stitches ripped. I needed an antibiotic and then a wick was placed in the hole opening and partially hung out of the hole. This wick allowed the infection to drain, also needed it replaced daily by a home nurse.
The hole did not get stitched as the wound healed from the inside out. This might be the same situation for you but definitely bring it to your surgeon's attention.
take care,
brena

Mine is a bit different. I had my lumpectomy on 4/4 w/the lymph node removal. My drainage tube had a partial clog, so even though it looked like it was draining, it wasn't draining completely. When my surgeon pulled my drainage tube, I drained for about 30 minutes in his office - alot! then would drain like that 2-3 times a day for several days afterwards.
I have been doing fine until last night (5/19) and noticed that my breast was hurting. I've been leaking some blood from my breast incision site, but not much, the past few days. I didn't think much about it, but did plan on calling my surgeon this week to let him know.
I had to go in today because my breast is swollen and sore. Due to Chemo and my low immune system, I have an infection in the breast tissue, not the incision site. I'm on antibotic and hoping it doesn't get worse or I can't do Chemo on Thursday 5/22.
Who would have thought that I'd get an infection almost 2 months after surgery? But it's due to chemo and low immune system
As I say - the many Joys of Cancer!
