The way I snagged one was by subscribing to the RSS feed in

    http://wiitracker.com/

Keep a close eye on Sears.com and have them send you a notice when its back in stock.

They seem to have a few on line every few weeks but they run out within

an hour so you have to be ready to jump immediately.

Also check Toys are Us on-line and in store.  They had some at $250 that they've been putting out periodically especially weekends so watch the ads.

Aside from the greedy retailer bundling problem It has been much more profitable for Nintendo to ship these units to Europe instead because of the dollar--so that also has contributed to the shortage and the price.

One went on ebay for $301.  Plus shipping.

tennis is a good workout.  Play doubles by yourself- you control both Mii's on your side of the court.  Baseball really will give you a serious arm shoulder and back ache if you're not used to it... which clearly I wasn't.

I love bowling- but golf has become my favorite.  We just got the tiger woods golf for it, and it's really challenging. But when you mess up the players hit their clubs into the ground... kind of funny.

You should try the Wii age, and the Wii training-- both a good workout.

I can buy it on ebay express with a credit card for $279 plus shipping. that seems better but still I think that is pretty expensive!!

Stay away from Ebay if you can--They are price gouging and there is a glut of them with nowhere to return them if something is wrong.---Have to be very careful.  Especially  how many sales sellers have had and their rating. I never go below 99% ---And always use a credit card for a major purchase.-----Never let paypal take it directly out of your bank account for a major purchase or you loose protection that you get with a credit card----

I've been burned when I bought something and when it didn't arrive Paypal said I was entitled to my money back but their was no money in the sellers account left to refund me and the seller quickly became unregistered from Ebay.  Be cautious.

By the way Best Buy did not charge for shipping it.

If you look closely you will probably find it's not really 5 games but its the Sports pack which is normally included with it and has 5 programs---

I found that very misleading on some of the descriptions.

We didn't pre order it.  I mentioned it, and then we totally forgot about it, which sucks.  I wonder if every store has stopped taking pre orders...

OMG ...  We got it, Mommy charged it on the charge card and my sweet girl was soooooooo surprised.  Her birthday is Friday.  She will be 7 and this sweet thing knows how tight money is and she said, in shock, "Mommy! How did you afford to buy it?"

We stayed up past her bedtime and played boxing, tennis, golf, bowling and baseball.  I can't seem to get the timing right on baseball but oh what fun boxing, tennis and bowling were ... golf will take some getting used to!

thats so awesome.  I say buy one more remote and nun chuck, and at target you can get the soft covers for the remotes- they come in pink and blue and other colors too. the covers make it soft in case you accidentally hit each other.

You'll get the hang of baseball pretty quickly.  So much of reaching the pro level on the different games is where you manuver the remote and where the sensor is on your tv.

I know that sounds confusing-- but you'll really be a pro before you know it.  I was terrible at golf until M. explained it to me, and now I'm almost at the pro level.  In golf always look at how much the wind is blowing on each hole.  The wind really alters your shot.

I'm sure giving the Wii to your daughter was so special, and staying up late and playing together is such a treasured moment.

Isn't boxing such a workout??? The first time we played baseball my arm hurt for three days. I think I'm just may have to go play.

I have gotten into re-chargeable batteries ... I used the ones provided and will replace them with re-chargeable next time.  I did my 2 mile walk this morning and then came home and played tennis and they even have Wii fitness where you can go thru and play and your Wii Age is calculated ... oh no.  Not telling what it said but I will say, unless you know how to hit the ball, in baseball, it's not fair!  I only made contact with the ball 1/2 the time.

you just keep your eye on the ball, and make sure you stand in a baseball stance.  standing sideways with your arms up by your ear. Are you swinging too early or too late??

When I first did my Wii age I was an embarrassing 62.  It took a while to get it down, and I'm still no where near my real age of 30.

    Oh well...

Ok, so my daughter got her Wii and she got birthday money.  Trying to decide what the rule should be after she buys the games with "her" money.

Should I make her all her own games from now on? I have decided already to up her "allowance" to $5.00 a week since I don't think the $2 was enough.  I am thinking that I want her to take ownership of her own things and pride of that, too.

I think the games are expensive.  Maybe there could be a certain report card that will get her another game-- but it will take her so long to save up for them.

Well, we go to Game Stop. You can buy them used.  The Hannah Montana one she wants is $19.99 and the others are in the $30-39.99 range.  So, I am thinking that 6 weeks is not that long to wait?

I will also definitely reward her good grades with gift cards or a game.  This may not be too big an issue since we got the DS, she only has 5 or 6 games and is quite happy with that. She and her little friends borrow each other's games if they are interested in something else ... so that has been a nice thing these girls learned on their own.

So, did anyone score a Wii Fit?  I can't wait!  I haven't tried to find one yet, but I think it would be a fun change.  I love the boxing and tennis that we already have.  Plus I have the Big Brain Academy.  Um, I guess I expect Nintendo to solve all my problems.  Maybe they can work on my recon issues. Tongue out

Our boys gave my dh and I a Wii for Mothers Day and Fathers Day.  Today is dh's birthday so I went to our local (small) Walmart at 9 am yesterday and bought the Wii Fit for him.  I gave it to him last night and we hooked it up and played for about an hour.  It was amazing - although I believe their calculations of our weight were off about 5#.  I love it!!!

It calculates your weight??? Oh geez.  I didn't know this.  Now I'll be sure not to set it up when anyone else is around.

    Whats the big brain academy?

My sister set my Wii up yesterday evening and I can say categorically that this is the most exercise I've had since pre-BC.  I think it was more than my sister has had as well.-------And my Wii fit won't arrive until tomorrow----I've just been boxing away.  Between the punching, weaving and wobbling I must be quite a site--but damn am I breaking a sweat knocking them out in the second round.

There is hope for me yet and my bad arm is getting some range of motion.  I need to clear the other Wii sports with my Physiatrist because

I could flare the RSD or possibly do some other damage.  It's a very delicate balancing act but they want me to keep trying to use the arm which in addition to the RSD has brachial plexapathy. (It also has a shoulder replacement) I'm constantly trying to desensitize it. I think this will be a very good thing if I can keep myself from overdoing.

I'm hoping this will also help the balance issues and the fatigue and stamina issues that I have been attributing to my medications.

    Wii fit comes tomorrow!

A question though--Maybe a problem unique to me but, I can't get the remote separated from the numchuck easily because of the limited use of my fingers.  Unless someone has a workaround I think I may have to buy a separate remote to use with the activities that don't use it and just keep the other attached permanently to the numchuck.

    Wonderful purchase.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback that encouraged me to get it!

Beth, big brain academy is a game that helps your brain function.  There's another game like it for the ps2, it's called brain something, I can't remember, but I like it a little better because it has a little piano test with it.  I need to go work that game a little more.Tongue out

Anyway it tests your memory, your recognition skills, calculations - that sort of thing.  When I first took the test I scored a C++.  What a bummer.  I imagine the Wii Fit will call me fat too.  My Mii is in her 40's now, but she started in her 80's.  LOL!  I need to do better on the baseball.

Saluki, you know, the teenagers have figured out how to play the games by just barely moving the little remote.  It's funny how the generations are different.  Teens expending as little effort as possible, while the adults really get into it and play the role.  Youth is wasted on the young!  LOL!
