Hi Brenda, what off ramp from 5 do I take?
Hugs, Shirlann
-
BMD--we had a blast seeing you--congrats to DH! That rocks! And congrats to the boys--they did awesome. I was really happy DD placed, b/c it's such a competitive tournament. Third year there, and first time she's placed, so that was cool. The kata scoring confuses me--our sempei said the scoring is random based on ring--for example, the judges in dd's ring picked "8" as the high score, so that's why all the girls were in the 7's. So maybe the boys' ring they picked "7" for the high score?
Anyhow, sorry I can't join you guys this month--am hoping May will work out.
-
Hi all--do any of you know this gal--there have been many articles about her--had BC and then opened a store in Carlsbad and now has leukemia- http://www.helpsuzanne.org/
-
Shirlann-It looks like you would take the Del Mar Heights Rd exit and go west to Camino Del Mar then north. Hope thats right.
Nash-I was talking to some people about the girl who took 1st in your dd's division. I know I told you she practices all the time but apparently she is now taking private lessons as well.
Sylvia-I have read 2 stories about her in the paper. The first one was a few months ago when they were talking about her business in the financial section of the NCTimes. Her business was dedicated to helping cancer patients with products they need. The next article was just a few weeks ago about her new diagnosis. I wonder if she got her leukemia from the chemo treatments she received.
-
I met Suzanne when I visited her shop. I'm really sorry to read about the leukemia, and I bet BMD is right--I wouldn't be surprised if it's a result of the bc chemo. I know she had quite a bit of chemo. Man, that really blows--I will be praying for her.
BMD--that's interesting that that one girl takes private lessons. I'd thought about that at one point for dd, but she gets a lot of individual attention at the dojo that we moved to last year, especially since she's the only one there who likes to do kata and who does tournaments. Anyhow, can you let me know if there are any other relatively local open tournaments coming up? I haven't stayed on top of tournaments the past year for obvious reasons, and our dojo doesn't have a competition team so they don't keep up on it either.
-
Nash-I will let you know if I hear of any. We usually stick to the USKA tournaments and they are not usually local. The next one is in Bakersfield and we have not decided if we are going to make the trip. With gas so expensive it is highly unlikely. I think Riverside is after that. I don't have the dates in front of me.
-
Hi all. I called my friend and crepes and corks and the only thing is that they close at 4:00 on Sunday. I figure that three hours should be long enough. Do you all think three hours will be enough????
Starfish... I don't mind your daughter being there at all. I hope everyone is ok with Zoe being there. Otherwise, dh can be on baby duty that day.

I will call Nico at crepes and let him know we will possibly need a table for 12.
I had chemo yesterday and I feel super yucky today. Hot (no fever) and terrible indigestion. I saw a gastroenterologist (sp?) this morning and they are doing a enterscopy (or something) next week. I have been taking meds for the indigestion but they just aren't helping so there is a concern that I might have an ulcer.... as if I don't have enough health issues! Oh, and one other thing. My onc added Gemzar onto my chemo so now I have Taxotere and Gemzar two weeks on, one week off. And I'm back to the Nuelasta shots, too. I guess the Gemzar take the counts down.
Lucky me...
Cheers, Jodi
-
Jodi-I am sorry you are feeling yucky. My onc gave me Protonix for the indigestion. One pill a day and it really helped. Thanks for making the reservation. I am sure 3 hours is long enough. Do you want to ride together on Sunday. You, Zoe, me and Sylvia could all ride together. I won't be ready to leave until just after 12:00. There is an awesome series going on at church right now and I don't want to miss it.
-
Sure, we'd love to 'hitch' a ride...
Do you want me to meet you in the parking lot where we met before??? Or I could just come to your house. Let me know.Jodi
-
Jodi, I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy. My mom was on every chemo there was over the course of her Stage IV disease, and Gemzar made her feel the worst. It didn't matter if it was as a single agent or in combo (she had Gemzar/Xeloda/Herceptin). So I can imagine that the Gemzar/Taxotere is really kicking your butt.
Hope the gastro guy figures out your tummy troubles, too. -
Jodi-My house is way out of the way. Maybe we could meet at Sylvia's in Shadowridge? Would it be easier for you to drive with the car seat rather than move it?
-
Hi Brenda---My house is fine and my daughter can also join us--so Jodi--if you are OK to drive us all--how about you, Brenda, Zoe,Gretchen and I all meet at my house---WELL---you know what I mean!!! 12:15 would get us to Del Mar on time and I'm sure 3 hours would be ALMOST enough time to eat crepes!!!
S
-
So, if I drive, I have room for only three people with the carseat... Will that be enough room?
Jodi
-
3 adults counting yourself --or 4 adults? I think that probably you mean you can only get one person in the back with the car seat and two in the front--and that is fine--Gretchen and I can just buzz down together and you and Brenda can meet like last time---not a problem! S
-
My van seats 8 even with a car seat. If you can move the car seat I can drive. I hated moving those things when my kids were little.
-
Jodi,
Can you stand the taste of licorice at all? If you go to a health crae store, you will find chewable DGL licorice. It is not seetened, so it does not taste great. But it soothes the lining of your stomach quickly.
Lisa
-
Hi again. Brenda... I can move the carseat NO PROBLEM. It's a piece of cake! Thank goodness. So, can we ride in your van? I'm sure it will be more comfortable.
-
Oh shoot, I thought it was last week. I got a sweet reminder from Liz and she said "this weekend", so I looked at the computer and, yes I will see you all Sunday if I have to crawl!!!
Love you, Shirlann
-
I told Gabri that she could come for crepes, and she is so stoked! I think she feels very grown-up. We just looked at the menu and we are drooling.
-
Jodi-Lets plan on meeting at Sylvia's then because she lives in Shadowridge.
Sylvia-Can you pm Jodi your address. I know where it is I just can't remember the house number. 12:00 okay with you? That way we can get the car seat switched over and take off by 12:15.
-
Sure---my house is fine---12 noon...so now I have to figure out how to pm...??? hmmm-I'll try!!
-
Noon it is! So are we 12 all together? I'm going to call Nico and let him know the number. We may have to be out on the patio... it's really nice. The inside is pretty quaint... er, small.
But it's really nice and the owners are really great people. Plus, the food is absolutely brilliant. I'm partial to the dessert crepe with apricot preserves. Ok, ok, enough rambling.Let me know how many we are a.s.a.p.
Jodi
-
I do not know if you guys counted me. I plan to be there unless I get my neutrophinic(sp?) fever this weekend. I get between days 6-9 post chemo everytime. But I hope to make it.
-
Looks like 12 is about the right number give or take a few.
foamygirls-really hoping you feel good enough to join us.
-
Ok, we will probably have 3 tables of 4. I said that was fine. As long as we are in shouting distance of each other. LOL. Like I said, the place is small, but so awesome! I just talked to Nico and it's going to be great. He's an excellent cook. I can't wait! Crepes are SO good!
Jodi
-
Hi Jodi and all--So noon at my house--and YES I think we are 12-14 GREAT!!!
-
Gabri will not be joining us now - she'd doing a last-minute sleepover.
-
This is on Sunday, right?
-
formygirls-Yep. Tomorrow the 27th at 1:00. Hope to meet you there.
-
