What's with the "Oh Dear!" pages?
Comments

This entire week I have been randomly landing on the "OH DEAR!" error page. I hit "refresh" once or twice, then the page loads normally. There doesn't seem to be any pattern nor reason these errors are popping up.
Anybody else having the same problem (still)?
Mods/admins: any idea what the problem is and when it will be fixed?
-
It's not just you. I've been having the same problem.
-
Yes, this has happened to me numerous times this week. Just happened again this morning. Sometimes I can refresh and it will work but not always. I actually became concerned enough that I ran a full scan on my computer to look for errors. (I always assume it's my fault.
)
-
I started getting them yesterday. I have noticed a few times that the site seems to be running slowly. . .I've had to wait for words to appear while I was typing.
-
Been having the same problem!!!!!!!
-
I really want to slap the "Oh Dear" lady! Latent hostility, I know...I need to work on it
But I would like it a lot better if she said, "Oh crap, not again.." LOL

LOL Deb!

HAH!...I landed on the "OH DEAR" page trying to post that last message! OH CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-

add me to this club too
-
Me too!
-
Me too! In the last few days, I've been getting this as often as 1 out of 4 or 5 clicks.
I hit the backspace, and then try again, and it usually works. But it does make me worry that there is some underlying problem, like the server doesn't really have sufficient capacity for the number of users/hits the Community Board gets.
-
I am wondering if it's a glitch in one of the filters they've put in place to fight spam. I seem to hit the "Oh Dear" more often when trying to post rather than just viewing a thread. HMMMM.....
-
me too and yes like you deb that oh dear lady really bugs me!
-
I just got the "Oh Dear!" lady just now when I tried to click on this thread to see Pam's comment!
-
I hate the "oh dear"
-
I am getting the "Oh Dear" page about one out of every three clicks.......maddening!!!!!!!!!
admin-tech, do you know why this is happening?
thanks.
edited to add: I get the "Oh Dear" page when i am viewing threads, but not when i have posted so far.
-
Are any Admins or Techs reading this?
As frustrating as this is for us "oldbies", I am especially concerned for newbies who may be getting "Oh Dears" on 1 out of 3 clicks and may get very discouraged and give up on this site.
-
I have also received some 'oh dear' pages. More frequently than that, however, I have many occasions where I wait and wait and wait for a page to load. Sometimes that happens when I visit other sites, so I don't know if it my online service provider or the site I'm trying access. Just thought I'd chime in case there are issues brewing behind the scenes involving adequate resources for the traffic here.

Oh dear!!! it's been driving me crazy for days...
-
Oh...dear...what can the matter be?
Seven old ladies...stuck in the lavatry
They were there...from Sunday to Saturday
Nobody knew they were there.....!
Second verse???
-
Second verse!
The first was a lady named Eleanor Humphrey
Who sat herself down to make herself comfy
And when she got up she could not get her bum free...
Nobody knew she was there!
Third verse?
-
Third verse:
Second was a woman named Myrtle Fairedge
She entered the stall, put her purse on the ledge
But when turning to sit, she found herself wedged...
Nobody knew she was there!
-
Fourth verse:
Passed out on the floor was Beatrice Gledd
Who'd been enjoying an outing after 5 days in bed
Still weak, she fainted, hitting her head...
Nobody knew she was there!
-
Next to come in..was old Mrs. Draper
She sat herself down then found there was no paper
!
She had to clean up with a plasterer's scraper!
And nobody knew she was there!
-
Next to sit down was Ester LeCart
She sat down to poop but only could fart
A gaseous green cloud almost gave her away
But nobody knew she was there
-
pam,
I didn't interpret Ann's post the way that you do. I get the "Oh Dear" message for all types of messages - not just spam. I just got it about 30 seconds ago on another totally legitmate post and yesterday I was getting it on about every 5th post.... and I didn't find any spam yesterday. I took her post to simply say that the "Oh Dear" is popping up everywhere, even here.
.
.
.
Next verse:
In the next stall was Dorothy Gluck
She'd been in a hurry until stopped by bad luck
After finishing her business, the door lock was stuck.
And nobody knew she was there.
.
.
.
Edit added: I just got the "Oh Dear" again when I clicked to post this message.
-
Add me to the list I am also getting the "Oh Dear". Don't feel bad about wanting to slap her, Deb, I want to hit her, too.
-
A BIG LOL on the verses gals! I've never heard them!! Thanks for joining in!!
Since these silly Oh Dear! pages have been popping up very randomly throughout the forum for several days now, I don't think they're intentional. They are everywhere so I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure she's just a glitch in the system and in time, will disappear. If you click on your backspace arrow, you will leap-frog over her and get back to where you were headed in most cases.
I just think this annoying Oh Dear! lady's demeanor seems so hilariously gentrified that I couldn't resist a song in her honor! I am loving everyone adding their own verses!
Oh Mods....what can the matter be?
Oh Dear!'s face is...annoying as you can see,
Please..Dear Mods...delete her quite promptly
So no one will see she is there!
-
Pam,
No, no, no, no, no!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I meant it was just maddening to get the "Oh Dear!" when I was trying to check in on the thread about the "Oh Dears!"
I just said your name just to "fix the moment" in time!
I've read your comments! I think you're great! I was just trying to express the feeling "Oh, I want to check that thread and see what this sister has to say about the 'oh dears' -- and damn! -- I get the 'Oh Dear'!"
That was all I was saying, just describing the moment!
But now that I've re-read your comment -- it didn't occur to me at the time that it could look like I was commenting on "threads that have gotten nasty" -- I wasn't at all!
The only thing I remember thinking about your comment at the time was -- when the Mods have deleted something, there's nothing left to click on to even bring you to "Oh dear" lady -- so there's nothing wrong with any of the threads that say "Oh dear" -- they're entirely innocent! Like your comment! and like mine was intended to be!
