Yes, my dad says we are clones. He just loves having her around to do fun things with, he comes and gets her and they go out to dinner or lunch or the zoo and he always tells me how much fun she is.

It's sad that those young girls have so many brothers and sisters that they end up having to take one over as a "practice" child. Naomi's story made sense when you think about how many children the women will have!

This was such an interesting thread. Did anyone catch last night's 60 Minutes on Polygamy?? I found it fascinating to watch--and was amazed that it echoed so much of what BinVA described in earlier posts. Thanks for all the info learned on this thread. It is still interesting to watch how the Texas situation evolves.

Hello, all,
Here's an article from today's Arizona Republic newspaper about the FLDS mothers, who have started an on-line business making and selling their handmade "prairie-style" dresses, nightwear, underwear, coveralls and shirts:
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0702FLDSDress.html
Their clothing line web site is here:
Please, if you purchase any of this clothing, request that you have the name of the woman who made it and make the check out directly to her. This will help ensure that the money goes to her and allows her to do as she sees fit with it.
Interesting, yes?

Hi Binney,
I read the article and checked the clothing website you posted. Having lived near the polygamist sects in Utah and Ariz, I am quite certain none of these women will receive any funds from the sale of these garments. I'm also certain none of the women from the sect in Texas, and the vast majority of women in Colorado City, AZ and Hildale, UT have their own bank accounts.
There is no way to know who is actually receiving the funds. In particular .. if a person wanted to support a woman trying to free herself from the sect in Texas ... how would you verify the money went directly to her and her children?
In reading the article, my take was that Ms. Jessop was suggesting you have the name of the woman and make the check out directly to her, to hopefully promote a sense of independence.
Sure would be interesting to see who actually endorses that check.
