Hi everyone!!!
Did anyone listen to the Triple Negative Conference held by the "Living Beyond BC" website? I missed it today and was wondering if anyone has any new info to share.
Thanks, Jacqueline

I listened to it. It was good. I heard nothing I hadn't heard before. The speaker, a Dr. Carey (sp?) from UNC, was pleasant. She encouraged checking into clinical trials via clinicaltrials.gov and trialcheck.org. Also mentioned that 2 Erbitux trials (epidermal growth factor inhibitor) will be reported at the ASCO meeting coming up soon. She mentioned a CALGB trial that has an arm incorporating Carboplatin and Avastin into the neoadjuvant setting for triple negative patients, but I haven't found that one yet (just curious - I would have jumped at it myself a year ago)
One point that the lecturer made in no uncertain terms, which I do not think gets said often enough in oncology offices "My patients are NOT responsible for if their cancer comes back or not - there is no data to support that - NONE." She said this in response to those questioning whether the extra-low-fat diet was desirable or do-able, how lifestyle affects recurrence, etc. It is not something you do or don't do, or don't do well enough. No blaming the patient in her practice!

I too, missed the seminar. Has anyone seen it posted somewhere?
-
I listened to it, too. I agree with Lisa that there wasn't too much new info, but still found it encouraging that they were even having a conference about triple negs!
Janekhaldy - if you go to the LBBC website, they replay their conferences for 30 days so that you can listen. Although, I did get an email from them yesterday saying that their site was down, so don't know if it is fixed yet.
