    Hi Astrogirl,

    I also have bilateral mastectomies and frequently go form free when swimming.

    I bought a tank suit (the kind that racers wear).  It only has a shelf bra (basically a piece of Lycra) sold into it so there is no gaping.  I tried several on until I found one that was cut high enough under the arms and didn't show my SNB scar.

    I am grateful for all the suggestions here.  I love the suits those of you have posted!  Oh how I didn't find bathing suit shopping prior to mastectomy fun it is much more challenging now.  I had the right breast remove and the trouble is finding a suit that is high enough.  I can't have any area of the breast shown because all of that has been removed.  But the ones that cover more in front are not very attractive.  The other problem is my remaining breast doesn't stay has high up in a suit as the insert so I have to battle the different sizes somewhat.  I just want to be able to have a suit on and go to the pool with my kids and not let this stop me from doing what I love

    Hanna, I haven't tried the Land's End suits, yet, but want to try one, since they do have some in D cups and in underwire.  Most bathing suits don't have enough support for my natural breast.  The LE suits are about the only ones I have seen that do come in D or DD cup sizes with underwire support.  I wear a 6 and the cup sizes in regular suits are always too small.

    Starzhere that is exactly my problem too is that being a D most suits don't hold up well and when you have one natural breast it won't hold up much and it gets a bit smashed so one side sits higher and flatter not very attractive

    I had a bilateral mast and needed a swimsuit but didn't like any of the Mast ones, so I went out a bought a Tank-ini type and took it to my local Mast shop "I asked first if they would do it" and they said yes and sewed in the pouches for me for $10 a side, I also did this for all of my bras and it worked great.

    I am now in the process of expanders so I will be able to remove the pouches and still use the bathing suit.

    I fogot to mention that I have the Swimming Prost which are a lot lighter and float better.

    While I was shopping for swimsuits I went to "Swimco" a Company in Canada, not sure if it's in the US but they had foams of different sizes especially made for this purpose and they were very light.

    You might want to go to your local swimsuit shop and see if they have these.

    A few of you have said you'd like to see the mastectomy nightwear I'm working on.



    I'll have a prototype available soon of the first design I've done. I think what I'll do is PM some of you and see if anyone's interested in being part of an online focus group, as I'd really love some feedback.



    I'll give you my personal email and send out occasional requests for feedback from there.



    I'm a bit reluctant to post images here yet because I'm afraid too much feedback at this point will make me second-guess myself.
