LisaSDCA-Where are you?
-
Hi Brenda - I was off the boards for about two weeks. Hella time getting caught up as most of my computer time is spent working on getting employed.
I should be #6, but my new Dragon Boat Team (Team Survivor San Diego) meets in the morning, so I will expect some grief if I am late.
I'll be bringing some info so y'all can join up, too. Yesterday was our organizational meeting and we even got out on the water and did some paddling!
I'm flying to SF tomorrow to be with my sister for her birthday and put in her front garden (broke sister = gift of labor and talent ), but I'll be back and ready to meet for lunch on Sunday. In fact, I'm likely to be ravenous after being on the Big Boat!
<waving!> to brdrider - I'm just a bit east of you! I'm on the low rent (S. of Adams) side of Kensington. Happy to have you join us!
Wondering if Shirlann will be back from her Amazon sojurn in time to lunch with us?!?
Smooches!
Lisa

LisaSDCA-Thanks for checking in there girl. I was getting worried. Job hunting. That sounds like fun. You get there whenever you can. We will be there.
I don't know when Shirlann will be back. She said she would be here in time for April's luncheon.
Melia-How are you doing? I hope things are better for you this month. Can you make it for April? We miss you.

LisaSDCA - Have fun in SF. Looking forward to hearing about the Dragon Boat.
ShirlAnn - The Amazon? How did I miss that? Wow, what an adventure!
My son finally decided on UCSB so we are in the midst of finalizing the acceptance - housing, finances, etc...

Hi Ladies,
I'm trying to find oncologist in San Diego area who does clinical research. Trying to place a study of high doses of methotrexate. If I can place the study there, then I could come monitor the study. Can you give me any oncologist names to contact? Otherwise, I'm hoping to come visit in July and will hope to meet up with all of you.
Spring is finally arriving here in Michigan and we have daffodils now.
Linda

Hello--One of the biggest groups in the area is:
PACIFIC ONCOLOGY & HEMATOLOGY
477 N. El Camino Real
Encinitas, CA 92024
760-452-3340
Also--
UCSD THORNTON HOSPITAL
I don't have the phone number for them but I know that there are studies going on all of the time thru that system.

Hi ladies,
Can I join you? I also live in San Diego (RB-4SRanch area).
-
formygirls-Please come and join us. It is nice to meet you. Can you come to our next get together on the 27th? We are having lunch in Del Mar.
-
I would love to join. I will plan on being there--pending any side effects from chemo. I get my 4th AC next week and so far my chemo side effects have been getting worse.
-
formygirls - we'd love to have you as a new member! You betcha! You'll even find there's a good handful of triple-neg sisters there.
Linda7411 - Moores Cancer Center of UCSD is the main clinical trial research and treatment center in the central San Diego Area. An impressive,state-of-the-art and well-funded facility (Moores owns the SD Padres), they should be able to tell you if the have anyone doing specific work with high dose Methotx. Or do I instead see that you are interested in youself initiating a clinincal (phase III?) study here w/ high dose Mtx.? Again, I would start out at Moores or Scripps Clinic Torry Pines/Green Hospital.
Do make plans to munch with us in July. We've had quite a few out-of-state guests. Oh, and let me know if you are interested in hiring an IRB Liason.
Lisa -
Has anyone heard from Jodi? Where are you girl? Are you feeling O.k.?
-
also ucsd med school has a list of what clinical trials they are currently participating in: http://health.ucsd.edu/cancer/clinicaltrials
doesn't mean you can't get someone to administer a different trial for you, but this tells you where their research interests are. -
I have news!!!
Gabriella and I are moving to FLA this summer. Pilot BF is making it official. I have no ring yet - we are both flat broke from the cancer - but once I get final revision (hopefully in July) we are moving
I will miss you all but I am so glad that I will no longer have to be a single mom.
-
wow - congratulations!!!! Where in Florida - I go at least 3 times a year.
-
sdstarfish - Congrats! I couldn't be happier for you
July is a ways off, so hopefully we'll get to enjoy your company at our next few lunches.
Linda7411 - I'm seeing an oncologist at at Oncology Associates of San Diego. He's associated with Sharp Hospital. Here is a link to the clinical trials they have going on http://www.oncologysandiego.com/clinical.htm
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 27th.

I'm here... We have been having such problems with our computer at home. DH just ordered a new router. Hopefully that will fix computer problems.
I'm going to call my friends at crepes and corks and confirm for the 27th at 1:00. They are the nicest people. I'm going to call them a.s.a.p. So, I think we are up to 6 or 7 people???
Love ya... Jodi
-
Starfish-Wow! How wonderful for you. There is life after bc. Congrats.
Jodi-Thanks for checking in.
-
Hi sisters! I am coming, so put me down. What time and where?
April 27th, got it down on my calendar, can't wait to see you all and hug you too.
Brenda, you look good, hope all is well.
Kisses and hugs, Shirlann

Thanks so much for the list of places conducting clinical research in the SD area. I monitor sites who do clinical research. The place that I have a contract with is looking for a site. If I find at least one in the San Diego area, they'll let me come there from Michigan to monitor the site. Then I could visit my little girls more often and visit all of you.
I just don't know what we would all do without our support groups. Even at one year out, I count on them to pull me through tough days. I went to retreat last year and now am getting those gals together a few times a year as yet another support group. About 20 of us. We call ourselves Boosom Buddies.
I'm helping with Billboards and Banners for the Race for the Cure here. Our Billboards are up and they are wonderful. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will do it. Thanks Liz for the instructions. Hey, did I hear wedding bells? Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing all of you in July!

Hi....Congratulations to you Lisa---that is wonderful news!!!
Jodi---we are at 9-10 people with you---I may bring my daughter too---so if you want to handle it with your friends on a reservation--that is ok with me--we may end up neading a table for 12----won't that be great!!!

We will be moving to Fort Lauderdale.
Was it uncomfortable for anyone to have my daughter there last time? If so, I really do understand.
I know how it feels to want to get away from kids for awhile, so maybe it's not as relaxing when I have Gabri. But if no one minds, would it be ok if I brought her again?
-
Starfish-I have no problem visiting with your little girl. She is a sweetheart.
Shirlann-there you are. Glad to see you are back. We are heading to Del Mar on Sunday.1:00 at Crepes & Corks. 1328 Camino Del Mar. See you there.
nash-what fun it was to visit with you and your family yesterday at the karate tournament. Your dd did so good. I noticed scores for her group were all in the 7's weren't they. Boy they scored the boys pretty hard in that age group. None above the 6's. My 9 year old got 3 place in sparring. Get this. My dh got first in kata and in sparring. He kicked butt. So all in all with 6 years olds 3rd in kata we came home with 4 new trophies. Where the heck am I suppose to keep all these things?
I sure am looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.

Congrats, Brenda!! You've got a house full of studs
