Dr. Lorraine Day

Dr. Lorraine Day is known for having cured her own
breast cancer. She shares some of what she's done in the videos below. She speaks about having a good diet and her faith in God, however, she is very anti-medical.

I saw her speak at a conference and she was voted the worst speaker by the group. She was completely evangelical that it was her way or the highway. People actually walked out.
She has NEVER documented that she had cancer in the first place that she supposedly cured. She sells a huge bunch of tapes and merchandise and hawks them constantly.
There are so many cancer protocols out there, please consider another one.
-
My question about her is...if the tumor was as large as she shows in the picture, why did it not spread to the skin. BC will spread to skin if it grows half that large.

So far, I have never found any specific information on Day's cancer. (But if someone found it, please send me a link.) If one were to promote a 'cure' wouldn't it be more credible to say something like "I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my tests showed my biomarkers were ..."
If she had breast cancer, or any cancer, rather than some strange, huge cyst growing out of her chest, I'd want to know if it was like mine before I opted for the treatment. Even then, she's just one person, not a clinical trial. There is no way to use her case history to tell others she has the treatment we need.
I want hope AND I want data.
-
And one more thing, how many people take photos suitable for marketing purposes when they're struggling to conquer a cancer diagnosis? She has a pretty professional shot of her in a bikini by the pool with her 'tumor' that makes me wonder.
-
I am not following Day's program. I don't have any of her tapes. This info was emailed to me and, for me, it reminded me of how important our diet is and how important other things like gratitude are.
I am now aware of her shortcomings. I don't know what her motives are. She says shes had cancer, parkinson disease and MS. ????
I liked the info on diet and faith (not particularly organized religion). Should I delete the link?
Thank you

apium,
I think she does have some good basic thoughts in her protocol. I agree on her diet, faith and some other issues she addresses. I have read enough books of natural healing to know she is not telling you anything you could not read in many other books. So if you find some good out of her link..I would keep it and use what you feel helps you.

BlindedbyScience,
I have been looking at those Lorraine Day pictures for years and what you said never occurred to me!
You're right. Who would take a marketing photo while in the throws of coping with a raging disease?
-
I don't know Dr Day, but it seems in general it's true that: For every tragedy, there will be "carpetbaggers". Cancer is a magnet for people pushing products and "cures" to the vulnerable. Makes my skin crawl!

She's written about on Quackwatch:
http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/Cancer/day.html
She's quite a fascinating woman who was an orthopedic surgeon and in fact, chief of orthopedics at a San Fransicso hospital at the time the first Aids cases were being discovered in 1981. She's in her 60's now and looks quite well.
As for curing her own cancer, well, if you read all the articles on Quackwatch, there is pertinent informating missing from the story on her website.
I checked this out years ago and wished her well but did not buy her program.

jellydonut, thanks for that link. I haven't heard of Dr Day before, but in reading just the first paragraph at the quackwatch link, it sounds strikingly similar to the information I've been reading at the natural healing site where I recently purchased some products (which I am very pleased with btw).
I'll continue reading. I still have the ongoing dilemma of who has credible information. flalady, you mentioned that you've done some reading on natural healing. Would you mind sharing some authors and titles? Either here or on a new thread?
-
I will look up some of my books and post them for you Althea. I have read over 40 books on CAM treatment. You do see a common thread between them all. But I do have one that is a must read but I can't remember the author. I get it for you.

Florida Lady,
By chance, have you read "Cancer - Step Outside the Box" by Ty Bollinger?
Interested to know what you (or anyone else that read the book) think of it. Haven't yet bought it. Thanks.
-
jelly,
I haven't but I will look into it. I'm always reading and hopefully learning. Thanks

apium, I don't think there's any need to delete the link. I did some more reading at her site and let's just say I'm not instilled with confidence to follow her advice. LOL I already believe the pharmacuetical companies are greedy to the point of being evil, but this woman says AIDS was a purposely manufactured disease. Over the top is my response. And if it turns out that she speaks the truth, it'll have to be someone else who speaks it because Dr Day's words just don't have the ring of truth in them for me. She just sounds nutty to me. next!
