After having a masc.  I tossed out all bathing suits from last year.  I have heard some people have had pockets put in for prost.  However,  I dont know any good shops around were I live for it.

I am looking for a swimsuit this year.  I spend as much time as possible in the summer in or near water.

Does anyone know of some good websites ( please list website ) I am looking more to a two piece if possible. I've heard of some names on here but having trouble with google looking up thousands of matches

    thank you- heatherj

If you take a look at my non-profit website, BreastFree.org, you'll find a Swimsuits section. In that section, I list most of the companies that are large manufacturers of swimsuits and I provide links (just click on the name of the company, which is highlighted in gold letters) to photographs of the suits. In my Helpful Links section, I provide links to companies that sell post-mastectomy products online--several of them sell a nice selection of swimsuits. Of course, you can also go to a local fitter who sells breast forms and mastectomy bras. Fitters will usually also carry a selection of mastectomy swimsuits. As others have mentioned in earlier posts, Nordstroms will sew pockets into regular suits you purchase there, for free. I believe they'll also sew pockets into non-Nordstrom suits for a fee.

I've noticed that Still You carries a cute-looking black tankini. I wondered if anyone has tried it. Their camisoles are so comfortable, I'm thinking of giving it a try. My biggest problem with many mastectomy suits is that they're cut high under the arm where my skin is still sensitive and the repetitive motion of swimming irritates me. If anyone else has suggestions for solving that. I'd love to hear them.

    Hey Barbara,

That's funny and goes to show how different we all are.  I find that the suits are cut too high for me, which is why the newest lands end suit seems to work.  Since it is a v-neck it comes lower in the front and also under the arm.  It is my new favorite.

    Heather,

I don't know if it is on the breastfree site or not but nicola jane has great suits.  They are European but mine got to me within a week or two.  I don't have the actual web address right now but I know a google search would get you there.  That's how I found them.  Also the lands end suits seem to work well for many.  Like I said above, the newest v-neck tankini is great for me.

I got a lands end tankini and it fits fine but the shelfbra/pocket is not as snug as my mastectomy bras are and the prosth. slips low and makes me look saggy....something i would like to avoid since i had a bilateral and should be able to look perky if nothing else. Cool  Anyone know what i'm talking about...

Yes, Kerry, I know what you mean. I find if I wear my foam breast forms with the lands end tankini, that works fine, but the heavier silicone forms can make me sag a bit. I'm a bilateral, too, and I agree about the perky!

    Carol,

It's true, our bodies are all so different that what works for one might not work for another. I love my Land's End suit for going to the beach, hanging out by the pool, even swimming a few laps. But on me, the top comes up high enough under my arms that they start chafing if I try to swim serious laps.

It could be that any suit would cause that--after mastectomies and SNBs on both sides, that's the area that's still sensitive--I have to choose bras with that in mind, too.
