Bureau County Speedway (Princeton, Illinois) will be having a very special race this season.

This race is more than about winning a trophy and payout.........

This is a race to help find a cure for Breast Cancer.

50 to 75% of the profits from this race will be donated to this very worthy cause.

On June 27, 2008 Payouts will be doubled for all classes on this very special night.

Late Models will race for $1600 to win, Modifieds $800, B Mods and Street Stocks will race for $400 to win and the Hornets will be racing for $150 to win.

During this special race night, we will recognize and congratulate all that have survived this devastating disease, we will honor those that have passed because of it, we will offer hope  and encouragement to those currently fighting it and to bring awareness to the community.

This special night of racing involves more than 1 or 2 Sponsors, and we are still looking for Sponsors for this event. All Sponsors will be recognized on front stretch signs at the Speedway, yes ALL Sponsors, even if we have 200 Sponsors... they will be recognized.

All Fans, Drivers and Crews will be asked to sign in on this night, as each and everyone that attends this night will have their name sent in along with the donation to help find a cure for Breast Cancer.

Please click here to see the complete payout, entry fees and gate fees list.

    Sponsorships start at just $40.

Team Sixteen drivers Tony Izzo Jr and Shannon "Miss Excitement" McIntosh have committed to racing our Get Involved Race For a Cure. Team Sixteen has also decided to donate 10% of their payouts from the night back to this cause and have issued a challenge to all other Late Model drivers to do the same.  If all the Late Model Drivers rise to this challenge, an additional $825.00 would be donated to finding a cure for breast cancer.

    4/4/08:
Jaggers Racing driver Jason Jaggers has accepted the Team Sixteen Challenge and has agreed to donate 10% of his payout back to help find a cure for breast cancer!

    4/6/08:
The Carrington Race Team Drivers, Brad and Brian Carrington have announced they will be donating 50% of their payouts back to help find a cure

This is such a sore subject with me. I do hope the med teams get their donations they need to continue with their research. My heart drops when I see people criticize those that walk, run, raise money for organizations to benefit BC or any other disease. Read their financial statements. Many give generously to out reach programs, individuals, and clinics. There is not a health organization around that would not love the funds and awareness raised for their cause as generated by this simple pink ribbon.

    Ladies,

I do appreciate your comments on this matter. I was unable to see the original comment by Pam on the board, so looked back into my email notifications:

     ( quote: Comment by pam2622:
"Rather than giving the money to any organization or society associated with cancer awareness, and those that walk, run or whatever , please consider giving the funds to this man. I'd hate to see all the money go to another useless cause" ) http://www.depmed.ualberta.ca/dca/an.

I have to give my painfully honest opinion on this, and I do apologize if I offend anyone........I must say, it concerns me deeply that anyone who is a registered user of this open forum at breastcancer.org  would consider breast cancer or the research for a cure a useless cause.....

Having said that...... Although their are worthy organizations that are dedicated to research for an overall cancer cure (and worthy as they may be), this race is a race to help raise funds to help in finding a cure for breast cancer..... the key word being "breast"....

My intentions for posting the race on this particular forum were to inform anyone that may want to attend this different kind of "race" fundraising event... or even become a sponsor of the event...... just to inform.........

    Pam2622:

I do not agree with but I do understand your position on the issue.

I would hope you can understand my position in that I believe the BC advocates and researchers are trying to find a cure ...helping women to live a few extra months now and a few more extra months later....and so on... are ultimately the steps necessary to take towards finding a cure..... you must crawl before you walk, walk before you run......I am sure that the group you represent has had trial and error, crawling and walking.....as well as the BC researchers and advocates have.
