Four years and time to say goodbye

My sisters
In a couple of weeks it will be the four year anniversary of my diagnosis with cancer. At that point I would never have known how important and how precious this site would become to me.
Early this year I had a number of personal issues from elderly and sick parents, to sick kids to exploding air conditioners etc that kept me offline for a number of weeks and I was devastated when I came back to find out how many sisters we had lost during those few weeks I was gone.
Today though I have something else that is making me sad... What is with all the backstabbing and hostility on the boards? What are the newbies thinking when they see those posts? Some of you may have noticed I have not posted much recently to be perfectly honest I just don't know what to say anymore. I used to feel safe here. In many ways I feel this site saved me. But now I feel it is time to move on.
I beg you ladies remember the fear and uncertainties we all go through and be there for our newbie sisters. Help and love our sisters with reoccurrence and help them work through the issues of treatment and pain. Remember that this battle is with the beast not each other.
Please make this place a haven again, a haven of support and love
That being said this is goodbye from me. To all that I have come to know and love over the last 4 years thank you just isn't enough.
I love you all

{{Kat}} Enjoy the rest of your long and fruitful live! May you live a healthy and happy one! But do stop in from time to time to remind just why we are here again! So we too can one day say we've been helped by, helped others with and grew to be able to leave a haven we call home.
I've only been a member for a short time, but understand the words you speak, b/c I've heard/read bits and pieces and also find it hard to accept for the new people that are joining while in the throws of those first hours/days/weeks of dx. Your words are important. Thank you for sharing them!

Kat,
Ive read many of your posts in the past and have always found them reassuring!!! I very happy to see that you are doing well but sad to see a sister leave the folds here...although I do understand what you are so eleganly saying...this past few months have been reall rough here on the board and I dont understand why....we are all here for the same reason and I just dont get why others are attaching each other...
You will be missed and please remember that we will be here if you need us....
Best wishes for good health and a wonderful life...
Hugs
Jule

I try to stay away from the off topic threads and find the boards to be as supportive as ever. I haven't notice the hostility you refer to, but that is probably because I don't go to those threads.
Just my two cents, but there are other discussion boards out there for political views or whatever. This one works best when we talk about this beast we've all had to deal with. -
Kat good luck. I beleive it is a natural part of this journey of ours, a gradual moving away from those supports from the time of diagnos. As a 5 plus survivor I find that I am defining myself less and less with BC. I am simply me and really only here that I mention that I am a bc survvivor.I pop in evry now and again but mostly use the confererences updates etc. Mrs B

I have to say I agree...I actually find fighting on here to be confusing and it makes me sad. I don't understand it and want no part of it. I'm here to receive and give support, exchange information, and hopefully have a laugh or two along the way.
-
Kat,
i want to wish you the best of everything in your "moving on" journey.
Like others have said, I agree with you also. The hostility, backstabbing, and upheavals on these boards seem to mostly come from a few specific threads. The boards were once a safe place for bc sisters, but since certain groups were formed here, the boards are like a minefield. It is very sad.
-
Be well, Kat! In all ways. Always.
Been around here a long time and do notice a connection between the times when we lose so many of our BC Sisters and the increase in crankiness and hostility in the posts. I think it's understandable, even if it's sad.

Aww, Kat! We'll miss you so much around here...
I'm sure many of us have thought about calling it quits with the board - especially with all that's been going on lately (I know I have). It can sometimes be a catty place (in certain threads), but people like you make it that much more friendly. I'll really miss you!!
Enjoy your dance with NED!

I've been off the site for a while, to tired but missed the disagreements, I really hope that it stops. We are all so stressed tired and get really sad when we lose our sisters, so from now on if we get a post reply we aren't happy with...how about just letting it go and starting a different conversation. I'd lose it without this site it means so much to me. So SISTERS lets behave and show our caring instead. PLEASE. It really saddens me that CurlycatFL is leaving because of the changes on the attitudes on the site. Keep the arguing in pm or just ignore. Something I learned long ago, not everyone is going to like me (or what I say) and vise-versa so lets have encouragement, peace, hugs, and support be the rule on our site. Pearl

Blessings, Kat. Be well and stay well. And do come back now and then to let us know how you are.
-
Kat,
Good luck and stop back. I haven't seen the fighting, but it is really sad. What are these folks thinking?
