Good day all, I went to my herceptin treatment last Thursday and the nurse asked me if I was taking medication for Thyroid, I said no why. She show me my blood test result and it was high (5.14). She also noted to me that my White blood cell were quite low (2.5). which scared me a bit. I just wonder why my oncologist never informed me about this. I trust her as she is very good but still a bit worry specifically about my white blood cause they have never been low like this even during my chemo treatment which I finished last September, and the worst of this is my next blood work is schedule only in 2 months (on my next visit with the onco) and TSH is not on it. My RBC are a bit low also 114. Also what I noted is everything has dropped significantly in a two weeks periods. on the 13 Mar my white blood was 3.1 and on the 27 Mar they were at 2.5. So would like to know if any of you has experience this and if it was fine and at what point the doc prescribe you medicine for TSH and or White blood. I was taking neulasta during my chemo but never did since last Sept as my white blood were increasing but now it decreasing for an unknow reason. I always had a blood work every 3 weeks and now I guess she just push this to 2 months as I got only one form in mail. Would appreciate your feedback/opinion on this. Tks.

Hi Sig, My understanding is that your white blood-cell count can dip if you've had a cold or been exposed to one or are fighting off an infection. Your oncologist probably didn't mention it because she didn't think it was significant. But of course any concern is worth a call ...

I have Hypothyroid disease, and my TSH level began low and jumped in 8 months.  In Jan 06, my level was 5.25.  They told me that I had nothing to worry about, so as the months progressed I got sicker and sicker....the fatigue, the nausea, I lose weight instead of gaining like most hypothyroids do.  The pain in my muscles and joints just got too much, so I went to a GI for my vomiting and weight loss.  He ran a TSH and by August 06 it had jumped up to 18.9.  So I was way off the scale.  My mom is hypothyroid too.  I would make sure to get frequent tests on the TSH because you can become real sick when it is untreated.  My WBC was low all the time also when I was undiagnosed, explained my constant fatigue.

    Hope that helps,

    Michelle
