Janie, damn, but you have had to put up with a lot of side issues and effects! Hope the first rad goes fine. And I hope they seem to go quickly for you. Sounds like you'll have a great Christmas.

Renee, you, too. You'll be very busy and it'll be a blast. (I'm in Waco, by the way)

So I saw rad onc for the last time today. I'm doing so well, she said she'd hand me off to the regular onc.

Hi Girls, Well; sounds like everyone is doing good and jolly looking forward to the Hollidays. PJ, good news for you. Glad your doing fine on the harmone blockers. I have an Onky Donky apt. tomorrow for check-up I guess. I sure didn't really get tired from the Rads. I feel pretty good except everyone has the throwing up flu and I am feeling queezy right now. This sucks, We should never have to be sick again. I seldom throw up but I do get nausea and I have it. I wish I would throw-up and feel better. My husband gets a steroid inject. in his neck tomorrow and its a surgery sorta(they treat it like one) I guess its dangerous but we are going to my apt. then his and his will be 4 hours so we will be gone all afternoon. Janie sounds like you are going to be busy and very happy. Its so good to have all the kids home. Sounds like Renee is having a ball, good for her. Well I really feel yuky and I have to work so better go lay down. I kinda watch Lost when I remember so I'll catch it tonight. Hugs, Mary

I hope all of you and your relatives get healthy for Christmas. A 4-hour procedure sounds complicated. PJ, are both your sisters doing ok? Renee, see you in Rads.
It appears as though mine will officially start today. I have not been told anything to the contrary. Warm fuzzies. Janie

    Janie, hope rads went OK.

Mary, hope you and your husband fared well at your appointments today. And I hope you don't get too sick from all those germs floating around!

My sister who's in rads is getting a little more reax, both skin and fatigue, than I did. Guess I lucked out there. My other sister had her second biopsy come back OK, but they do surgery Monday to take it out and re-biopsy. Blech.

Get better fast Mary! Paula, how many sisters do you have?
    Hey Renee, how's it going?
Finished my first rads today. Thank Heaven the scans turned out good. Today's session took a little longer since it was the first one. Picked up my schedule through January. I noticed that the majority of people getting rads treatment have hair. I wonder if most only have radiation or have it first.

Janie, I have three sisters. The one so-far-completely-unaffected sister checked out fine, thank goodness.

I was pretty much bald going into rads. By the time I started, I'd been out of chemo for 2 weeks. They took a pic of me at the beginning (I guess so they could make sure my file and direx were the ones that matched me). It really started growing back pretty quickly after that. Not fast, but my head got covered by real short stuff pretty quickly. (And then the facial hair came back and grew bushy in places it'd never grown before and leg hair grows like crazy, but that's something else altogether!)

Glad today went OK. If your doc is like mine, you'll see her/him every week for a checkup. They also took Xrays every week to make sure that nothing had changed (that is, I hadn't gained 20 pounds which screwed up where tattoos fell, etc., is my understanding).

Hi girls,PJ hope your sister comes along o.k. My friend here in town got blistered from rads. I felt bad when she told me so I just said aha and yea cause I didn't want to say I didn't get so much as a pimple. Glad your other sis is fine. Janie you will come through fine. I think some people have hair cause they are shrinking their tumor before surgery. Thats what one gal told me that got treatment before me. She had done rads. to shrink hers then had surgery and chemo. and was doing second set of rads. now and she had a little hair growing back and it was curley. Mine and the gal after me have straight as a board hair so we teased the curley gal. She thought maybe hers was curley because it was her second time at rads. Her hair was kinky curley, I felt sorry for her. She tried everything to help.I made my fudge, one batch and I am going to make haystacks tonight. Tomorrow eve is my grandaughters X-mas sing. I heard on Fox today where they don't think X-mas singing should even be aloud in school. You shouldn't display X-mas things where they can be veiwed by non christians, no X-mas music and they will get that off the radios next. Boy the future kids won't have any fun.X-mas is getting to be a thing of the past. How sad. My husband is in a lot of pain which is normal as they informed us after the fact. He is getting all his bottom teeth pulled tomorrow so God help him. I hope his arm is better tomorrow.my phone is ringing of the wall, my dads creatinine level is up. Hopefully it's the celebrex and they took him off it or his prostate. sibs. are calling me to find out how bad it can be. Better go gotta work in half an hour. Man work just interferes with my plans of baking and making candy.Janie and Renee I hope yous do as well as PJ and I with the rads. Hugs Mary

Tell me something. Yesterday, they told me that radiation would take less than 20 minutes from there on out. Well, today, they start with x-rays etc. again and it was much longer than twently minutes. I take it that the gray kismo is the actual radiation zapper. It just has a flat surface, no glass etc. What all do they do when you just have radiation and nothing else. Do they keep changing machines or go with one. Also, I have so many marks, I'm not sure where the radiated areas are.

    How's it going girls?

    Fuzzies,

JAnie, I had sharpie all over but when I got my tats I had 5 dots. I had a circle of sharpie for my boosts. I had one machine and they hit me from the right side then from the upper left side. They would come in after the right side and change the med. slide for the left side. Some days we had trouble positioning and it took a few seconds longer and some days it just went smooth and fast. My husband has been out of his freeking head for two days with the neck injection they gave him a relaxer and today with the teeth he had ativan and now for pain vicodin or pericocet which he took the vicodin cause the pain isn't real bad. He is in his own world. He has slept all afternoon except to get up and stumble through the house like a zombie talking to himself. Well better go make some calls. My husband thought he could have a birthday party for me tomorrow, where is he from? he will be really sore tomorrow, hello. He asked me to call and tell everyone we will do it X-mas eve with my grandsons. How did he think he could do this with his brains in lala land? It was a nice thought just not thought through. Hi, this is Mary and my surprise party is cancelled. What a man and hes all mine Hugs, Mary

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!

Thanks for the info Mary. I don't have tattoos yet. I think they were going to do them yesterday but the doc was called to the hospital. I finally thought to read the info about radiation on this website. DUH! It appears as though they radiate the whole breast area and only zero in on the critical areas with the boosts.

Your poor husband. He sounds like a teddy bear.

Jon, the lashes and brows and any other hair you may have hanging on for dear life goes with the Taxol. The head hair starts to come back on Taxol and the rest a few wks. after treatment is done.(I think as my chemo brain is still going on)Don't know about Taxatere for sure but think its the same as Janie knows about taxatere. My leg hair is more dense and my armpits are very few. Strange The lashes and brows come back fast. Good luck, Mary

Am I right girls????I think I had fuz at the very end of tax.and it came out good a couple wks. after.I also think I lost every last hair on my head on tax. Oh my, Turn 51 and it all goes down hill. Janie Thanks, I feel older every year. It seams like treatment was a long time ago now, guess its my chemo brain. Its always been the pits to have your birthday close to X-mas as you get jipped. My birthday is actually Mon. the 20th. Hugs you little candy canes, Mary

Jon, I never did get any hair back on Taxol, but it started growing pretty quick thereafter. Mary's right about the brows and lashes. I didn't lose any on AC but Taxol took them. But when they started growing back, they were back in a week it seems.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONDAY, MARY! Do you get a break from work as a birthday present? How's your husband doing?

Janie, my eperience was about the same as Mary's. Mine had this arm kind of thing that was where the radiation came out of and they'd adjust angles/insert things depending on what side it was. Hope yours goes well. How is it being in JAX all week?

Well, I'm off Mon-Tue. Planning to bake a bunch of stuff to take to the folks who drove me to radiation and back. On Sunday a friend is supposed to go up with Nathan and me to Fort Worth (about 90 mins) to see a funny IMAX Christmas movie. We'll see, I' ve got a cold and I"m not sure I'll be up to it.

Yes, I had fuzz come back in on Taxol. My last Taxol was 11/17 and I have noticed my hair growing faster; however, no sign of lashes or brows yet.

Paula, it is really convenient to just walk down the hall to radiation. I took work with me so I didn't get bored.

Hi you little X-mas cookies, PJ, we went to the I-Max in Phoenix a couple times. Its 3-D and I think its great. Its like you are in the picture. My hubby is doing good. Can only eat soft stuff but I stocked him up on Tomato and potato soup and pudding etc. Hes mentally home now.(Well as much as a man can be.) I have made a little candy but can't get enough time to get it all made. PJ, I get my birthday off? No, and my boss always remembered with a card and $50.00. I bet thats come to an end. The bonus cards are sitting there but no others. I get the same as the mailman and every-freeking person they hardly know. O.K. its x-mas. I will work X-mas eve but only until noon as going to my sisters at 1:00 and its an hour drive. Hugs Mary

It was good to catch up on each of you. I've missed checking in. We had an awesome time at the wedding. My guys had a little too much fun. Good thing I was the designated driver for the evening!! I told them beer and shots don't mix...but do they listen to mom... NO.. hope they learned a good lesson.
I go for my 11th rad today and then off to shop with Ry before the snow flies. Then I need to come home for a nap. Between the wedding and Ry's missing a flight- I got to pick him up from the bus stop at 1:50 AM because they missed the connecting flight due to high winds- I missed a bunch of sleep, but it was all worth it.
Get that shopping, baking and decorating done, but don't stress about it.
    Have a fun day.

WOW Renee, sounds like you had fun. Seems we do wear out a little quicker from the rads. Thanks for the birthday wish. Hey kids never listen to mom. I guess we don't know anything and yet we speak from experience. I guess we did the same things back when. I just don't like to let that be known. When my kids would say how do you know? I would say "I am mom I know everything!" They were on a need to know basis and there wasn't anything about me they needed to know except I was the boss,(for what that was worth) as they didn't appear to be too scared of me because they would grow used to my tactics and I would have to keep changing them. Thank Goodness they grew up and if there is a God they will all have a child just like themselves. Oh, such sweet revenge. It looks like so far my two children who have two kids each don't have the patience I had. They have lost their sense of humor as they seemed to think it was pretty funny when they drove ol mom nuts. I do so try to remind them of their antics while growing up when I observe the children acting like their respective parent. I do it with a devilish smile. The baby of the family and the spoiled rotten one in Az. hasn't any kids yet but she does however already know just what her children will be taught and how educated they will be and how polite and mindful they will act, I can't wait to see these heaven sent children. Oh how I will enjoy watching those children act just like their mother and I will be there to let them know what a perfect child she was ha,ha,ha,ha.....I love being a grandparent. You girls take it easy and Renee you are almost half way done already. X-mas cheer, Mary

    Happy birthday, Mary!

I remember when we were expecting Nathan. My husband said he wanted regular, nondisposable diapers and NO PLASTIC toys. Ha. THAT lasted a long time - NOT.

Taking Nathan to the doctor (he probably doesn't need to go, but I swear there was some blood when he threw up last night; Matt says it was just juice. I'm just being overly cautious these days) as his cold seems to be not getting any better. Mine either, but at least I"m not tossing cookies!

My sister had her lumpectomy today. Operation apparently went fine and the doc says, pending pathology, it LOOKS benign. Good to just have it out.

You guys take care. Hey, we might get snow on Wednesday!

    Happy Birthday Mary!
    (51 -- I remember it well)

    Hey Kids,

Just finished number 3 this morning. Remember the 20 minutes tops promise they made me. Try from 10:20 to 1:00! Just call me Ms. Murphy's Law. For some reason the marks didn't line up right so I had to go back to simulation and get marked some more, and then back to radiation. It is nice to be staying just down the hall though.

Have a ball shopping, baking, traveling and resting girls.

    Warm Fuzzies,

    Janie

Now thats a dirty word PJ, you little snickerdoodle, Snow???? Its bitterly cold here. I think it gets to -9 with wind chill and its pretty windy today so don't know but could be even lower. I hate cold. Sure hope Nathan is O.K. sometimes when you have a cold or sinus you can swallow blood and it can come back up if you get sick, hopefully thats all it is but its better to be safe.I don't blame you I would get it checked too. Everyones got bad colds here. I am not saying a word cause I don't want to jinx myself with X-mas a few days away. I have been trying to wash my hands a lot but????. My grandsons are out of school for X-mas break so they are going to come stay with me(they can stay at work with me as I have my bosses grandkids a lot.) Thanks for the birthday wish PJ, I wanted a jewely box (bigger than I have)so my husband bought me a floor one. Now I can pretty much fill it up but there is room for lots more. He just goes to the max. I am glad though cause I really need one that big. Glad your sis is doing well and hope its all over for her.Well better go and get snacks and soda for boys., movies etc. big ol warm hugs so we all stay toasty, Mary

Been there myself. Heard a Doc. was working on Her/2 and political reasons he retired. I guess theres a lot of grant money someone is sitting on at the N.I.H.in D.C. and not in a hurry to do research with it. God help us. Hugs, Mary

Definitely, positively benign. That's the pathology on my sister's tumor she had removed yesterday. A joyous Christmas, all right. Now if the rest of us can just stay clean for the rest of our lives, I'll be happy...

More baking today. Back to work tomorrow. Janie, that cold weather reach you in JAX?

PJ, Hows Nathan? Hope he is better. My youngest grandson has the throwing up flu.Guess its good to get it out of the way for X-mas. Glad to hear about your sis. They are predicting 7 to 8 inches of snow just a few counties south of us. Hope it stays there. We are to get light snow. When they predict light, we will get a blizzard. When they say a blizzard we get nothing. I have the two grandson brothers. They have been good??? Yea; hard to picture, they haven't fought once all night and day. Got them and bosses grandkids again tonight. Bosses grandkids are like my own. They have spent a lot of time with me through the years. Gonna take them through the park and see all the light displays. Well sure have a lot of hip pain and taking tylenol and it helps. Got some shoulder pain also and may have to get something but gonna wait to see if it gets better in a wk. or two. Seems like my bones feel tender all over but maybe they will take some time to get over this. Better go get some things done before work. I bet Renee is in the cold. Hope you girls stay warm, sending hot coacoa thoughts, Mary

Sending Get Well Wishes to you and yours!

Hurray! I had a normal RADS session today! I also got my tattoos. I'm smokin' now ladies. Watch me glow!

It was 27 in JAX this morning. It was so funny to watch all the commotion about it on the news. It got close to 70 this afternoon.

Tomorrow is RADS and Herceptin. I will be zonked out with Benedryl.

This place has two rooms and a fully equipped kitchen. I bought the stuff to make Christmas cookies and then discovered that there is no oven! Only burners on the counter top!

Janie- way to go! NOw you know what rads are supposed to be like. You will need to make some 'no bake' itmes. Like rice crispy stuff, that chex mix covered with chocolate and powdered sugar, peanut butter balls. If you need ideas let me know, I love making things for Christmas.
Paula- YEAH!!! good news for your family finally.
Mary- I AM in the cold. high today of 6 with wind chills of MINUS 15. ugh.. I normally would stay in and eat cookies... I mean Make cookies , but those Rads are calling me.
Lots of family coming over today so I better clean up around here a bit.
    Renee
