    YUM to the crepes

And Brenda: Gabri's lavender-and-burnt caramel dark chocolate is my new favorite! Best $2 I ever spent for chocolate.

    Jodi and Zoe -

I was just reading Zoe's blog and can't help but wonder if Dr. Frumin is Dr. Fred at El Camino Pediatrics?  If so, he was the doctor for our boys for years ('til we moved south).

Lisa, what stunning photos. I just got back from Albuquerque last week (grew up in NM). Lived for a year in Santa Fe--awesome city.

SoCal-Glad you back home but it looks like you were at one of the other beautiful cities in this country. Wonderful pictures.

On a totally random note, my kids did the Junior Carlsbad race today. That was lot of fun--we're never done an event like that before. It was nice to be out in the land of the non-cancer/non-bereavement folks, acting like a normal family. Although we did run into one of the chemo nurses and her kids, but that was OK.

BMD--we're looking forward to the tourney on the 19th.

nash-my friend takes her kids to that race. They have a ball. We were at sparring practice this morning getting ready for the tournament. Did you know that this year they are going to give little trophies to the kids that don't place. I think that is great. They usually get medallions but I think this year it will be something more. The Crother's family that puts on the tournament are just really amazing people. I look forward to seeing you there.

I can do the 20th or 27th. If we pick a Saturday I am going to have to skip this one but please don't make plans around me. Do whatever works for the majority.

Hi everyone.  I'm over here in the Normal Heights area of San Diego and stumbled upon this thread while searching for information on reconstruction after mastectomy.

I was diagnosed with DCIS in February (Valentine's Day) and subsequently had one excision this past Monday in which they were unable to get clear margins.  My surgeon does not want to do a re-excision.  Multifocal DCIS  dx (so far), age=43,  area=5cm x 7cm x 2cm (discontinuous throughout), troublesome to follow, multiple stereotactic biopsies in both breasts due to calcifications.

Tomorrow I am going to see the PS she referred me to. After much reading, I realize there are many decisions to make.

Being a single parent of a teenage son with not much support has me feeling anxious and a bit overwhelmed.

If it would be O.K., maybe I could join the group for lunch sometime.

    Hello brdrider--

So much to consider and what I can tell you from experience is that you want it done yesterday but a few days(weeks) to consider will not sig change the outcomes.....my daughter and I were both dx 2 yrs ago--she had DCIS and mine was DCIS and IDC-----for her--lump and no clear margins and the surgeon recommended mast and she said "take them both" and has gone thru recon-I had a lump and 7 weeks of RAD and taking arimidex.

My daughter felt the need to do ALL she could NOW and given her age at dx the DRs agreed...so please talk to and use any and all of the available resources and we will all try to help you think it thru....it is an unbelievably scary thing and we all hope and pray for you to come thru it all and be fine...Sylvia

brdrider-Welcome to the web site no one wants to be a part of. You will be glad you found it. You bet you can come to any of our lunches. Everyone is welcome. I used to live in Normal Heights many years ago. LisaSDCA lives near there too. What ps are you going to see? I was 45 when dx with 2 young boys. I had a bilateral with immediate tram recon. You can ask me anything you want too.

Anybody else want to chime in on what dates work or don't work for our next lunch? Are we going for crepe's.

Jodi-Is that crepe place really busy on Sunday afternoons?

Thanks for the warm welcome and open invite.  Any weekend works good for me on lunch as I work M-F -- and crepes sound good to me also -- the menu looks yummy.

BMD-I was referred to Dr. W. Smoot over at Scripps Ximed for the initial consult.  I have a PPO ins., so I need to look at my options.

I'll check back in later this evening to let all know how it goes this afternoon.

I am involved in the medical field and have heard that Dr Smoot(XIMED BLDG) is excellent  and if you have a PPO (which I do not--but have a POS -so tech could have gone anywhere)--- Dr Mary Wilde or Dr Cheryl Olson (Olsen?) in the XIMED Bldg in La Jolla are supposed to be who the Drs send their wives to....anyway---

Crepes sound great to me---I can do 20th or 27th and  welcome you aboard---as BMD says "to the club that nobody wants to belong to"---she is really VERY funny!!!

    Take Care,

SoCalLisa - The 20th or the 27th works good for me also.

The initial ps visit went well -- he does implant surgery.  When I asked about perforator flaps he recommended a couple of other doctors.  Not sure that I would be a candidate -- but I'm trying to figure it all out...

sylviag - glad to hear that about Dr. Smoot-it was actually Dr. Wilde that referred me to him as she is my bs...

... and while this is definitely "the club that nobody wants to belong to", I feel blessed to have found you all... Looking forward to meeting everyone -- hope I don't wear you gals out with all my questions.Embarassed

    Hi everyone!

Welcome brdrider - I, too, will be looking for a ps, so would love to share info with you.  How old is your son?  I've got 3 boys - 18, 14 and 11.

SoCal - love your pictures.  We went through Santa Fe a couple of years ago and loved it.  Hope to go back one of these days and spend more than a few hours.  Probably best without the boys?!

Nash - doesn't it feel good to start getting your life back?  I'm back to work, the boys are back to sports, music lessons, scouts, etc...  We'd not cut the activities out completely while I went through treatment, but they were certainly reduced.

I think the 27th works for me.

    Crepes sound wonderful.

    Looking forward to it Sealed

    See you all then!

BTW, I invited a new girl to the group, but it may be a month or two before she joins us. I met her through Sharp Hospital. She is 35 and just got dx.

Hi, girls. We're going to Disneyland the weekend of the 26/27 for DH's b-day (it's 2-fer ticket time, so we're also going to CA Adventure), so won't be able to make the lunch (again! ugh!). Hope you all have a great time!
