Today when I was in this forum I found the lyrics of the song I run for life.  I did a google search and found this song:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEZHISEL4lk

I'm a runner and now a breast cancer survivor so the song really hit home.  I  couldn't help but to cry the 1st time I heard it but they weren't sad tears just emotional tears.  I would really suggest everyone to listen to it and don't forget they cut into our skin and they cut into our body
but they will never get a piece of our soul.  I plan to keep running for many years to come : )

    These are the lyrics:

It's been years since they told her about it
    The darkness her body possessed
And the scars are still there in the mirror
Everyday that she gets herself dressed
Though the pain is miles and miles behind her
And the fear is now a docile beast
If you ask her why she is still running
She'll tell you it makes her complete

    I run for hope
    I run to feel
    I run for the truth
    For all that is real
I run for your mother your sister your wife
I run for you and me my friend I run for life

It's a blur since they told me about it
How the darkness had taken its toll
And they cut into my skin and they cut into my body
But they will never get a piece of my soul
And now I'm still learning the lesson
To waken when I hear the call
And if you ask me why I am still running
I'll tell you I run for us all

    [Chorus]

And someday if they tell you about it
If the darkness knocks on your door
    Remember her remember me
We will be running as we have before
    Running for answers
    Running for more

    I hope everyone has a great week : )

I just checked and it was GSG that posted these lyrics on 6-19-2006.  I did a search in the search community knowledge exchange box and found the awesome pictures she's posted.  I wasn't what I was looking for but so glad it took me there.  Again thanks you and I love the photos you have on there : )

Sandy, thanks so much for the post.  Am so happy you enjoyed the pictures.  They can evoke some emotion from those of us who have made this journey....women are beautiful.

i did my first rftc about 2 months after chemo in 2006 ......... they played this song on loudspeakers and had the "survivors" walk a red carpet to the podium while it played ........... i was reduced to a puddle and walked the other way  hand in hand with my friends.

i am deeply affected by music .......... that was a nice link, but even after all this time, it's still too close to home for me .......... i know, i'm strange lol!

I've had the song on CD and work out to it, sometimes I tear up, but not always.

This is the first time I've seen that slide show with the song.  So very well done!

Rockwell girl was referring to my thread where I post black and white photos of women....if anyone wants to look at it, who hasn't already, here's the link.  I have a big collection saved, and I post the ones I feel will speak to the women here.

Thanks, Amy.  Glad you enjoyed them.

When I got in my car to go get the mammogram and ultrasound that was the beginning of the cancer confirmation process after I found my lump, I turned the car on and "I Run for Life" was just starting to play on the radio.  I cried and sang along with it as I drove to the medical center.
