March Madness?

After reading SO many sad posts today, I just thought it might be nice to take our minds off of this dreadful disease and talk about something else. Do any of you take an interest in the NCAA basketball tournament? Are you in a pool? How are you doing? I have three brackets going, and I am doing okay in one of them. The one that actually pays money!!!!!! I have North Carolina as the national champ. My final four are UNC, UCLA, Georgetown and Memphis. What do you think? Am I in trouble???
Anne -
Ha Ha! Okay, I guess I didn't really think many of you would be into basketball. I guess it's because I am in the only girl in my family and then I have three boys of my own, so there's LOTS of testosterone around here! Go North Carolina!
Anne -
Hi Anne I am a basketball player myself I didnt do brackets this year but have been following on ESPN I to think The Tarheels have a very good chance! Im a Longhorns fan but love the Tarheels still when I was younger I love Jerry Stackhouse when he played! There have been a lot of underdog upsets though!
-
My brackets are in shambles! I have UNC winning (which killed me as I am a HUGE Jayhawk fan!) but Roy has his team looking good. Hoping to lose on the bracket and celebrate with KU!!!
-
Hi Anne,
You're right...I don't watch basketball unless my son's playing! And these days he's into soccer and lacrosse.
How are you doing? Are you back at work? When is your exchange surgery?

So many good games over the weekend - but the bests were underdogs San Diego and Western Kentucky moving on! Two of the best college games I've ever seen!
The mighty (UCON, Duke and sooo many others) fell hard in the first two rounds...
-
I don't do brackets but have a lot of menfolk around who keep up all season on who's hot and who's not, and husband keeps the TV tuned in. As for me, I went to a Big 12 school, but it always comes down to rooting for KU--but then Roy Williams left for UNC and divided my loyalties. Now I've got 2 teams to root for.

Go Mounties!!!!!

My bro-in-law runs a bracket, my dh always fills one out for that pool. He is not doing well this year. One year my son won the pool ($300) just by flipping a coin (literally!) I am pulling for Davidson this year to be the cinderella team, my DH did not see that one coming, he though did have quite a few upsets in the first round.

Your bracket picks look nice. I just dont know if Memphis has the experience. I did a bracket but Uconn messed me up totally. I should have went with the gut feeling instead of my heart,,lol.
Anybody do womens brackets?
-
Okay--I just checked this post and realized the ARE some gals out there who are following the NCAAs!!! Yay! I got 10 out of 16 in the sweet sixteen, but I dropped to 12th in my husband's schools' contest. At least I'm not in dead last like last year. I didn't do a women's bracket this year--I just haven't followed it like I did in years past. Wow Shelia--a $300 pool!! The best I could win would be $80 but at this point, I just want to save face LOL! Can't wait for today's games, though! I took North Carolina and Xavier, although being a Pac 10 fan, I sure wish Washington State could pull it out!
Anne -
HEHE
Anne, sure hope your choice for Xavier, dose'nt work
GOOOOOOOO Mounties
Amy, I had high hopes for Our womens team, maybe next Year!

Wahoo! I went four for four yesterday and am currently in second place in my husband's school's brackets! However, I don't think I can do that good from here on out, since my other regions don't look so great! I am taking Stanford, Memphis and Kansas today. I am in BIG trouble in the other area, since I took Georgetown all the way to final four and we know what happened to them! Damn! Good Luck today, girls!!
Anne -
WV---GO HOME
DAMN!!!
-
I will be rooting for Stanford, Kansas, Wisconsin and Memphis today! I had Tennessee beating Louisville last night, so I didn't do too well there.
-
As a devout Dukie (especially the women's team!!!), I'm rooting for anyone who plays the TarHeels! I would LOVE to see Davisdon win the whole enchilada....how cool would it be for the underdogs to win the Final Four? Since my daughter goes to Carolina, though, I'm trying to keep my anti-Heels sentiments to myself...unless it just escapes my lips on occasion
.
I'm not sure if the rest of the country understands how seriously we North Carolinians take our college basketball. Think of Boston Red Sox fans and multiply that by a bajillion. I've heard of shoot-outs among neighbors over the Duke-Carolina rivalry! And I really didn't even mean to pull the trigger

I know how you feel about NC. It's just that they are SOOO good this year! How funny that you daughter goes there! My kids go to Oregon State and I'm an Oregon Duck, so THAT is very hard! I had Duke in Sweet Sixteen but that was as far as I had them. I lost Georgetown as one of my final four, but other than that, it's looking pretty good. Good luck everyone--two hours and counting to the first game today!
Anne -
Sorry, Marin, but I'm a died in the wool tar heel girl. I have two friends here in the frozen tundra who are also from NC. I swear we're the only people out here who know what the ACC is. Anyway, go Heels!!!!
Cherryl
ps Sorry about Duke....NOT
-
This is exciting - Davidson continues to be a Cinderella. I'm envisioning a Davidson/Carolina Final Four showdown, with Carolina winning it all, of course!!

I don't even know what a bracket is but I'm a Villanova grad so I'll be watching the Wildcats tonight.
Based on results, I should have gone to sleep earlier.
-
LOL about the bracket comment shrink! Too bad about Villanova-I thought they did great this year though! I have six of the elite eight still in it. Not sure how great that is, but I guess I'll take it. Today I am rooting for UCLA and North Carolina. I am VERY worried about UCLA. They have played so spottily lately. I wish they could come up with a big game for once!
Anne -
Whoo Hoo Sisters,
Carolina continues to kick butt! On to the Final Four!!
Cherryl
-
Okay, I did great yesterday--both UCLA and NC won! Today, I only have to root for Memphis, since I washed out with the other game (I chose Georgetown to be in the final four).
Still, I am in second place in the money bracket so that's cool! Enjoy the games today!
Anne -
Whew, KU made the final 4. I have all 4 teams right on the brackets but the best I can finish is 3rd.
-
Wow Karilynn! You got ALL four correct? I am VERY impressed! Me and my stupid Georgetown pick did me in a long time ago! I only have three correct (UCLA, Memphis, and North Carolina). Wasn't that just a great game between Kansas and Davidson? What heart Davidson has! Are you sure the best you can finish is 3rd? You never know!!!! Good luck and go NC!
Anne -
Yeah - there's two ahead of me with the same picks I have.
I didn't try hard this year - just picked the highest seed and since all four 1s made it....
-
The Madness ended for me tonight as Carolina lost to Kansas. On to next year.
Cherryl
-
SO UPSET
! Tarheels what happened! Ill be going for Memphis on Monday! Madness ended for me as well!
-
Oh My GOD!!! I am TOTALLY out of it! I had UCLA AND UNC!! SO SAD!!!!! Oh well, that's college BB!!
Good luck to those of you rooting for Memphis and Kansas. WOW!! I am a believer in those two teams--they were awesome! -
YEAH KU!!!!!
lost the brackets but loved the game!
