I am not a BC patient, I am not a BC survivor, I am BC experienced.

For various reasons neither patient nor survivor are appealing to me.  I like the thought of myself as an "experienced" woman.  It is kind of sophisticated, has a sultry, knowing air to it.  Experience is seasoning.  To me an experienced woman is a woman of supreme confidence.  One who can command attention for her ideas and opinions.  One who can wear anything and make people think that that is what should have been worn.  A woman who has known pain and fear and faced them.

Yep, that's what I'm going to call me - "BC experienced".  My friends and family will probably think of it as more evidence that I'm flakey, but that just spreads the fun around.

Hmmm.  I've hardly ever mentioned to anyone that I had bc so don't have to refer to myself as anything.  FWIW, I think of myself as having had bc.  That's all.  Pretty simple.

Hate labels and organizations for the most part.  Except you ladies, of course. Kiss

Look at Lance Armstrong.  He created the label "LiveStrong".  I wore his yellow label for a year while training to ride a difficult (road bike) fifty mile ride up hill.  I am going to get another bracelet today.  That ride is in End of May.  I doubt I will be able to do it but I am going to try.  Your "BC Experienced" idea is one that works for you.  Go with it.  How we empower ourselves as human beings to handle our hurts, experiences, etc is a personal choice.  For me personally,  if I had faced bc as a woman I would like to think that I would wear that badge as a symbol of strength and empowerment.

    mke,

I like your approach.  I don't like the term "survivor" either.

    I'm going with "BC Veteran".
