burning chest pain

hello i am also her2/neu positive. masectomy was performed july 2007. i stared chemo in august finished in december but have been on herceptin since then also to do the one year therapy. i have been experiencing burning chest pain on mostly the same side as my masectomy. i had a ct scan done and it came back normal. it was also thought that i could of had shingles because i had a bit of a breakout below my incision scar. i had infusion almost 2 weeks ago and again i am experiencing the same symptoms (no breakout) but am extremely fatigued and depressed. for a few days i thought it might be the flu this time but i just don't know. i feel crappy any insights?

Perhaps they should give your heart a good check-up!
Herceptin can cause heart problems .

Kathy,
first thing that came to my mind is "do you have a mediport?" if you do, make sure that it is functioning properly. is it on that same side with the pain? i guess the CT scan might show if there was a problem in that area. talk to your onc though about that.
Then the other thought i had was that during herceptin i became extremely depressed after my triple doses, i would have headaches as well. I don't know if the depression was from herceptin messing with me, if it was from cancer in general..it's hard to say with so much going on, but i did FINALLY agree to start an antidepressant and that helped. Also i changed my infusions to weekly and my headaches were much improved.
I always heard herceptin was a piece of cake and that always made me feel bad, because i had a difficult time with it. I did the whole year kicking and screaming because i didn't feel well. I can't say what it was.. but i know that part of it must have been psychological. i found that with herceptin i had more time to think about everything that had gone on over the previous months, because i was not nauseated.
Sorry you feel crappy. I can only say i can relate. i did have shingles with rads which i did during herceptin so i guess it's possible but i had to take meds for it to resolve!
Good luck hon, let us know how you're doing.
you can pm me anytime.

Hi,
Herceptin gave me heart palpitations, extreme fatigue and I was very moody. Because most women seem to fly through it, I didn't complain much because they tought I was crazy... however, I had to stop herceptin before my year was over as I ended up in emergency with PVC's (irregular heart beats) and I knew that it was from herceptin. My muga scans were always good which made me look every crazier! Anyways, I decided to stop and never had problems after...That was in July 2007. Rest a lot, listen to your body and keep your head up. Things will be better soon enough.

Kathy,
I too am having burning pain in my chest on herceptin. It started with just for a few days after treatment, they did US, scans everything. I finally went back to my surgeon and she checked my port and it was leaking. They took it out the next day! No problems since. I get my next treatment on Friday without the port. My onc said I only had 5 more herceptins why put it back in. It was so nice to get that out of me. Good Luck I know how hard it is to feel something but no one understands. They kept telling me to go to the ER they thought I was having a heart attack.
