I just found a small lump yesterday (I posted on the ILC section)...

it is about 1 inch below my incision scar (I had bilateral mastectomy)..this is on my side that had the cancer.

I think it is moving, which may be a good thing, but I am totally freaked as I am on tamoxifen (intermediate metabolizer).

just hoping to hear others with lumps that turned out to be nothing. OYE how I hate this!

I have onco appt. on friday and called surgeon (vacation)...his office will see if I can get ultrasounds/biopsy if necessary and get the ugly ball rolling.

I am on tamoxifen and had a new lump and it was biopsied and found to be benign, as I expect your will be as well. You are right to get it checked out, but the odds are you are fine.

I was on tamoxifen and found a lump in my breast.  My breast surgeon ordered a mammo and performed an in office biopsy all in a matter of hours.  Upon removing the lump she said it didn't appear to be cancer, but she had to send it to the lab.  Results came back benign.

I'm sorry, WallyCat, that this new item has presented itself. I think it's good that it's movable, and that it's below the mastectomy incision line at that.

I had a post mastectomy neuroma develop in the chest wall which was excised: a gathering of scar and nerve endings resulting from the nerves being cut at the mastectomy surgery. It was movable, and small, and outside the scar line just like yours and it was semi-firm to touch if I recall correctly. Not overly painful when touched. I think it was found and removed a year or so after the mastectomy.

I had a suture granuloma: an encasing of a stray suture in a particular pathologically recognizable way. It was below the excision site, was movable, small, not painful and I hadn't noticed it, and then voila it was there.

I'm sure there are other benign probabilities I'm not thinking of just now. I'll keep you close in thoughts as you traverse this painful field in your journey. Glad your surgeon's office may just send you in for ultrasound/biopsy which we all wish will be benign. It's good to keep moving.

    Best to you,

    Tender

    Update...

Did I mention how I adore my surgeon??  He was on vacation this week and I was scheduled with his "cover' guy.  I walk in and he spotted me ...what he was doing at work on his week off....paperwork catch-up, he said.  He recognized me right away and said he'd look at me.

He used the ultrasound and can't find anything.

He agrees there is something there and can be removed locally and he is almost afraid to say he thinks it is nothing (each time a doc told me it was nothing, things got worse...no cancer became cancer, .8cm became 1.8cm.....blah, blah...), but he moved it around and feels fairly confident it is nothing.  CROSS FINGERS!!  He said most gals would never find anything this small and close to a rib...I have sensitive fingers and good intuition Laughing .

I'm having it removed with local anesthetic on Wed. and will post back as soon as I know anything.  God, I hope this is not a recurrence!!!

Oh, what a doctor! I've been hearing such wonderful reports from many of late. It stirs confidence when the chips are down.

Good news, wallycat that you were able to have his laying on of his hands.

Keeping you very close through this turmoil. May the water part, and you walk through, unscathed.

    Hi gang,

I had the lump removed today.  Outpatient Smile .  Love my surgeon...he let me watch!!

He said it looks like chicken fat.  He thinks it's either a lipoma or a fat necrosis, but they are sending it to the lab to make sure and should know by Friday.

If he has seen enough of these and there are no surprises, this is a non-event..YIPPPIE!

    Cross fingers.

(I'll cross post this on ILC section)

    Wallycat,

Chicken fat never sounded so good, eh?  I'm keeping good thoughts that it will return from pathology as benign.  I'm so glad you were able to work with your fave surgeon.  I've got a fave too, here in Madison.

    Update...dream surgeon just called....

    all clear.

He did say there were some "big cell changes" which are typical for healing.  OYE how I hate the word "cell changes" but I triple asked him..."should I worry?" (he knows I'm a worrier and over thinker) and said NO!

    SO YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 4th will be 1 year NED if I don't worry myself to death Surprised
