I want to marry, then divorce a rock star!
Mills to get $48.6 million in total settlement
McCartney must give ex-wife $33 million in lump sum payment, judge says
A document released by the Family Court said the judge awarded Mills a lump sum of $33 million plus the assets she currently holds worth $15.6 million.
"I'm so, so happy with this," Mills told reporters following the closed hearing.
The court also ruled that the couple's 4-year-old daughter Beatrice should receive a "periodical payments order" of $70,000 per annum. On top of that, McCartney will pay for the child's nanny and school fees.
Mills had sought almost $250 million, while McCartney had said she should receive $31.6 million, including her own assets, which the court assessed at $15.6 million.
Judge Hugh Bennett found that the total value of all of McCartney's assets, including his business assets, was about $800 million. He said there was no evidence to support the widely published figure that was more than twice as much.

hahaha Tina, that's so true!

I read this and told my husband I married the wrong the guy cuz I wouldn't get anything divorcing my hubby!!!
-
And why exactly am I only dating younger men??? Guess I should be looking for the old(er) rich ones! Anna Nicole Smith did okay .....
-
He was a fool for not insisting on a pre-nup.
I think it's shameful that she should get the $48.6 million. But as outrageous as that amount of money may be, in fact it's actually Paul McCartney who "won" the judgement. Mills wanted a whole lot more - the article above says that she went after $250 million in court but I'd heard that during the earlier negotiations, she'd been willing to settle out of court for $100 million. Paul apparently offered $50 million, which she turned down. So she came out with less than he'd offered, particularly if his offer was $50 million additional to what assets she already held (which I suspect it was).

He should have had a pre-nup agreement

I'm a HUGE Beatles fan (not necessarily just McCartney) so I've followed this with interest.
I don't believe Paul is any kind of saint at all, but I think she's of very low character to drag this thing through the mud! She whines about being persecuted, yet she does very questionable things like airing their dirty laundry. I don't believe their personal situation is any of the public's business and she could have taken the high road and had some class about the whole thing. Personally, I think she's dead lucky to get what she got for 4 years' marriage. It almost makes me think she had that little girl with the purpose of cleaning him out later.
He's lucky to be out of the marriage and I'm sure he'll be more careful in the future. As for her, I imagine she'll go into oblivion... or we can only hope.

I thought I'd read that Princess Diane and Ivana Trump got about $20 million, so Ms. Mills really cleaned up. She wasn't even married to him that long.
-
Wow, Paul offered 50mil and she turned it down? Glad she got less then, but amazed at how much she got!
Rav, hahaha too funny! Me neither, my SO already gives a huge hunk of his paycheck to his ex..
Rose, that's a good way to put it in perspective. She really did clean up!
Beesie, Why on earth did she think she could get $250 million?!?
Jaybird, LOL that's me too, my SO is 6 years younger than me! hmmm
Sierra, Yep! Shoulda, coulda, woulda ... I bet he thought it would be everlasting like his marriage to Linda until her passing.
Carol, I hope Paul has learned something from this. I have heard that she wants the money for her charitable work. I don't know much about it ...
-
She did clean up and personally I don't think she deserves any of it, but that biased perspective aside, she did get a lot less than everyone expected. Pretty much every blurb I read or heard before the decision said that they expected a ruling in the range of $100 million to $140 million.
angel, I think she asked for $250 million because 1) she has a totally inflated sense of self; 2) she's a money-grubbing b****; and 3) she put that higher amount out there, expecting the judge to go to the middle ground between McCartney's offer and her request. That would have given her about $130 million. Instead the judge ruled much closer to Paul's offer. And despite the seemingly huge ruling, the judge made some pretty scathing remarks about Mills.
-
Thanks Beesie ... I'd say you're right on all 3 points!
-
In addition to that settlement she gets $70,000 a year in child support and Paul pays for the childs education and nanny...Mills b****** about the $70,000 by saying her child would have to travel second class while the childs' father travelled first class! Whew!
-
I was feeling sorry for the woman because of all her bad press but when I read she claimed she had given 80 to 90 percent of her income to charity and it turns out, per the judge, that she gave nothing, I've given up feeling anything about the woman. But with all that money, I guess she doesn't much care!
What a fool he was, but thank God he didn't waste too many years on her. Time to find a nice woman his age, but I'll bet he doesn't. Men!

If anyone's bored, here is the whole she-bang:

It's really interesting in a weird voyeuristic kind of way. My divorce papers are so boring in comparison!

Let's see, Anna Nicole really did love her ex husband right? I really wanted to puke when I saw that years ago. My opinion is that men should get prenumpts...............................flat out of the gate or don't get married....................Why did Paul do that? So naive to leave his ass open for that kind of loss. Sure she deserves to get something but common...................and women wonder why men don't want, don't believe in marriage. This is why I don't..............................not because I am well off because I am not. But I can't take a risk with what little I have.....................oh well, I am sure most women find me offensive now....................I am still going to pray for the gold diggers ha ha.......just kidding......
