Wanted you all to know that I spoke to Ferne today. She's doing better and the pain meds are working. She ate her first meal today without feeling nausated. She send's her love and is working towards getting better. She says that the hospital doesn't have wi-fi so she can't log on but will be online soon! God is able, Stephanie.

Prayers and hugs go out to you Fern.

Hello girls,
Our Ferne is still in the hospital, they moved her to a private room to help make her more comfortable.
Unfortunately, her pain has not been eased and that is the ONE THING she wishes for.
Apparently the mets in her spine are making the pain worse.
Once they can figure out something that works, she can go home and hospice will treat her there. I know she does not want to do hospital based hospice. And the food is really awful - what she can eat of it without getting sick.
She found out there is wi-fi in the hospital so her roomate brought her laptop to her. I don't know if she will be feeling up to going on line, because everything makes her so uncomfortable. But in case she does, these posts will sure make her happy.
She is being Ferne... meaning sweet, caring and worried about others around her. She is unlike anyone I have ever met in my life.
Please pray for pain relief. That is what she needs the most.
Thank you, everyone.
Love,
g -

Hi Ferne: just a little note to let you know that I am thinking of you.

Ferne is out of the hospital and at home in her own room now. Her wonderful best friend and roomate, Lori, is taking good care of her.
She is having lucid moments and some confused moments. Lori is able to keep her pain managed better than the hospital because she is on top of it, rather than Ferne having to ask for it.
It is absolutely heartbreaking.
I ask that you all please keep Lori in your prayers too. She lost her SO to cancer a little over a year ago and this is really hitting her hard.
Thank you everyone.
Love to you,
g -

Stephanie, thanks for the update. I wish I could talk to Ferne or Lori by phone at least, but I know there is no way I could do that without breaking down, so I'm satisifed with knowing the Ferne knows I'm thinking about her every day.
I know Gina was going to try to make it up there, I hope she did.
I don't know how to post a picture, but Gina has the most beautiful picture of Ferne, she is absolutely radiant - maybe you can post it here G?
-
Ferne, You are in my prayers, as is Lori.
hugs and prayers,
