Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has chose/chosen not to do chemo being trip neg. Here is a brief run down on my past.

DX'd 2000 38 yrs old left side IDC trip neg, 4cm tumor, stage 2, grade 3, 2 out of 5 nodes pos. mast, chemo, rads.

    8 yrs clean Woo HooLaughing

DX'd 2008  46 yrs old right side (other side) IDC triple neg, 1.5 cm tumor, stage 1, grade 3, mast, waiting on results of SNB. Also waiting on reslults of BRCA testing

I am thinking of not having chemo if my SNB comes out neg. Doc said they looked good and healthy at time of removal). I know most trip negs are destined to have chemo but I don't know if I want to go through it again. Is there any triple negs out there that have chose/chosen not done the chemo and how are you doing?

    HI,

I am new to this and just started my treatment but all my research so far tells me that chemo is the best shot triple negs have. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

    Dear RJ62,

I am also a triple negative recurrent. First dx 7/06, lumpectomy, stage 1 grade 3 1.3 cm. Recurred 1/08, bi lateral mast., stage 1 grade 3 1.3 cm no nodes for both. Did chemo(CAF) and 35 rads first round. Will be probably doing Taxotere and Gemzar this time. Starting chemo Mon. 3/17? I am 45 years old now.

I based my decision on the fact that I was so close in recurrent time and triple neg. have highest chance of recurrence in first five years. Statistics alone show the best chance for overall survival stands in doing the chemo regimes.

I did not have a "hard" time the first go round. Yeah, I lost the hair, eyebrows, lashes and NOSE hairs. But my reaction to the chemo was not horrendous. I know I may not be as lucky this time, but I will fight most aggressively to know in the back of my mind that I have done everything possible to ensure survival for however long God may give me.

I hope this helps and lets stay in touch. Good Luck to you.

         Debbie
