I am just curious if there is anyone out there who has experienced breathing trouble during or after being on herceptin.

I had no problem . But..one of the huge warnings about herceptin is that it may cause heart failure. Breathing trouble could be a sign of that. Bring this to your docs attention and they will likely check you for that.

I did experience breathing problems during Hercepting and it was definitely heart related.  You could be having congestive heart failure so please contact your doctor!  Pam

i had breathing problems with herceptin also.  mine was not cardiac related but because of my severe asthma and (as i just recently found out) i apparently have some lung damage from my rads treatment.  because of that i had to have strong steroid with every herceptin which helped significantly.

I had breathing problems because Herceptin damaged my heart. It gave me congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy. I also had a heart attack. My EF is also low. I have been taken off Herceptin, but since I still have all the heart problems, I still have breathing issues.

My brother is currently in the hospital due to breathing problems so this thread caught my eye. I have been researching his condition (pulmonary fibrosis) and found that one of the causes is chemo therapy, so I just wanted to comment about this! My brother's condition is quite a mystery to us, but in my research, I have found that some chemo therapies have been the cause of 'breathing issues." For my brother, the issue is that he can't get enough oxygen so they have him on a high flow machine that is "forcing" air into his lungs and trying to get the airways open (not unlike emphysema). It has been REALLY scary because he had pneumonia on top of this and the doctor basically said he would either go home or he wouldn't. The good news for him is he was just told today that he probably will go home next week! YAY! Still, this was very scary and so I can really relate to issues having to due with breathing problems. Pulmonary Fibrosis patients only live an average of 6 years after their diagnosis. We are trying to get him on a lung transplant list.

Please email me if you need any advice because we have become quite the experts in this arena!!!!

I remember that the first 3 to 5 days after a herceptin tx I would take deep breaths, often.  My heart held up fine throughout herceptin but I know herceptin attacks the heart, so.................??  that must be it. I did the every 3 week schedule so assume I got a larger dose each time also.

    Hope this helps.
