Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get the results of the BRCA tests back?

I haven't had it done. I think the only place in the US that does it (except on a research basis maybe) is Myriad. The Myriad QA says about 3 weeks. http://www.myriadtests.com/provider/hboc-questions-and-answers.htm I used to see posters who said they could a 'rush job' in about 2 weeks where you paid more, but I can't find references to that.

I had the test done as part of a research study back in 1996 and even then it took about 3 weeks. If you need more info or want to discuss BRCA status, be it + or -, go to FORCE, Facing Our Rsik of Cancer Empowered (www.facingourrisk.org). I found a lot of direction and well-informed stats there as well as a lot of women and men who are in the same position.

I too had the test done thru Myriad, ordered by my bs and it did take about 3 wks. and my Ins. paid for it!

Just had mine done, 3 weeks, insurance approved it in advance, but are now causing mania about the referral - should be worked out though... good luck!

I was told 3 to 4 weeks. I have two weeks to go for my results. It took me over a month of it sitting on my table before I got up the nerve to do it. Crossing my fingers for my girls. For you too!
