So... what do you think about Mr. Spitzer's escapes?!?!

I am pretty sure that by now you might know that the Governor of NY was working some extra hours... and it was not with his wife standing by (...) him!
The question is... would you stand by your man after a scandal like this?
-
I'd be in the South of France, nice time of the year there too, with that very same credit card, racking up the big bucks. $4,800 for a hooker would be peanuts next to what I could do to that credit card.
I wouldn't even consider being on a podium with that jerk. Did you see the look on her face? He's less then a man to have her up there with him in the first place. What in the world was she thinking by being there?
-
What about their three beautiful young daughters (I think teenagers)?! Can you imagine their classmates in school today?!?! It must have been awful!
Forget about my pried as a wife/woman, my "status"... but when you mess w/ my daughter(s)/children... that's it!
-
LOL NbN......... Letterman had his top 10 last night on this. #1 was "I thought Bill Clinton made this legal" LOL
-
Hey Marsha: how are you? Good to see you.
I am so in the wrong business! Over $4,000 (CASH) for a couple of hours worth of work
?!
Where do I sign in?!?!?!
-
i'm gonna start charging my husband...but since we're married, i'll give him a deal...$3,500 and i won't watch TV.
-
Hell no!! I would kick his righteous arse across NY.
I am sorry I would not stand by my man if he was a lying cheating sob. Idiot!
-
Eliot Spitzer abused his power as the Attorney General of NY; he has continued to abuse his power as Governor. Well, what goes around, comes around!
As for his wife and children, for whom I have tremendous sympathy, she should take him for everything he is worth and hang him out to dry. She certainly cannot ever sleep with him again without worrying about HIV or other STDs! I don't care how expensive the prostitution organization is!
-
I watched Chelsea Lately last night (late night talk show host); she is a riot; very funny lady. She said that the wife was charging Spitzer over 10K for that appearance she made! LOL
She also said that Spitzer's girls are going to have everything and anything they want like for example a pony... why?!?! If the father can spend $4,700 an hour on a "ho", why can't they have a pony!?!?! Reasonable, right?!
How stupid do you have to be to be caught with your hand in the "cookie" jar?! More than 80K he spent...
All those years he spent putting the Mafiosos in jail to probably turn around and hire a woman from an Escort Service probably run by the Mafia! Infinite idiot... definitely not thinking w/ his upper head!
Now, does it make a difference that she was not a fling(s), like a certain Clinton that I will not mention his first name, vs. being a hired girl?!
-
Just one point I'd like to make. What Bill Clinton did was morally and unethically wrong but it wasn't illegal. He didn't 'hire' Monica or cross state lines. Bill Clinton's crime was perjury <lying to a grand jury under oath>
What Spitzer has done by hiring a prostitute and having her cross state lines is actually a federal crime.
-
Again the question is... would it make a difference for you to have your man having sex with some random woman... or does it make it worse for you that your man actually paid a woman to have sex?
And that is regardless of "perjuries" or federal crimes! That is another side to this entire disgrace this ugly dunky's butt created for himself and his family!
-
As for how it would feel to a wife or kid -- I'd say 6 of one, half a dozen of the other -- maybe it's easier to rationalize that his seeing a prostitute meant he didn't have an emotional attachment to someone else, but to me it has creepier connotations that might bring more shame -- especially to the kids, because he is "part of who they are" in a different, more inescapable way than he is of his wife.
In terms of what it means to the public, and to his career, I think this prostitution thing is devastating. Spitzer's whole thing was being Mr. Clean! Crusading attorney general! Not only is prostitution illegal, and crossing state lines -- but he was money-laundering!
And I voted for the guy and was excited about his potential...
"How could I have been such a fool! What's wrong with me that I hooked up with a creep like that!"
-
Infidelity is infidelity. Does it really matter if it was 'paid for' or not???
-
The thing that bothers me most about Spitzer is the hypocrisy. I think prostitution should be legal and regulated, the way it is in Vegas and Holland because that would take the abusive pimps out of the scenario. I'm not for prostitution per se, I just believe that the government doesn't need to waste tax dollars going after victimless crimes- unless there is a victim because prostitutes can be raped. I know all about the sociology about why many women and girls get into the business etc.etc. I also realize that there is often mob, drug and other things going on which are legitimate reasons for investigations. Even though many NYers think Spitzer is a prick, I'd hate to think that this is all about prostitution and bringing Spitzer down for political reasons. The only victims here are his daughters and I feel for them.
I'm appalled that bringing a prostitute over state lines is a crime. He or she is not cargo or property and assumingly not a minor so that seems like a ridiculous federal offense.
I do not think infidelity has anything to do with running a state or country-- it has to do with problems in a marriage. I don't respect people who cheat on a personal level, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how they do their jobs.
I wonder how different this would be if it happened in Nevada, where prostitution is legal and regulated-- or would the judgmental people have an issue because this is the USA and not another country where folks wouldn't even bat an eye.
-
I had no idea that prostitution was legal in Vegas!!! Wow!
-
alwayshope,
i believe prostitution is NOT legal in the city limits of las vegas, altho it IS legal in other parts of nevada. -
Infidelity is infidelity regardless w/ whom or what (LOL). But as an elected official, I would think that we expect a little bit more than finding him rolling under the covers w/ someone else rather than his wife and more so at our expense!! And if he wanted to do that it's fine w/ me... just don't get caught spending my $$$!!!!!!
Men will be men... How could he aim so high and yet lay so loooowwwwww?! A public figure, w/ three teenage daughters... SOB!
For those who voted him to office, you don't have anything to be ashamed of; you voted for whom you thought was the best person for the job... what comes after they get elected, it's an entire different ball game...! Time and time again we see that. It is in the human nature to disappoint and be disappointed.
Let's just hope that he resigns at 11:30 AM as stated on aol.com.
-
But the original questions wasn't about the legality or his office (as you pointed out earlier). It was about 'as a woman would you stand by your man and would it make a difference if it was with a 'hired' woman or with a 'non-hired' woman'.
It is clear that you don't want me on this thread. You are only going after what I post and changing the rules as you go.
Therefore, I will respectfully leave this thread and wish you a good discussion.
-
gsg, I love you.
You always have such a wicked take on things. Just my style.
Isn't Sptizer the guy who put Martha behind bars?
Tina
-
What the heck are you talking about Jasmine?!!!!!! "Going after you?!?!?!" For what?!
You have your opinion and I have mine.
I am not going after anyone... this is a type of subject that has a lot to be said, a lot of emotions are involved, more so there are three innocent children, and I am combining several thoughts and in relation to several comments. Sorry you feel that way.
Well, regardless of what you decide to do, thanks for your input.
-
C-Babe, thanks for the clarification-- seems strange that prostitution wouldn't be legal in Vegas, but other parts of the state. Isn't the slogan, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas
? LOL.
-
"The only victims here are his daughters and I feel for them."
I consider his wife a victim too.
-
for hire or not for hire, I would show my dh the door and tell him not to let it hit him in the A$$ as he leaves. This guy took marriage vows, I assume, and he broke them.
I agree, the wife and children are the victims here. These young girls will probably be talked about at their school, and others. He has put them in a position that could affect the rest of their lives. I hope the wife seeks therapy for her children if needed.
And last night on one of the news channels, the blurb at the bottom of the screen said (in my words as don't have exact quote), that he preferred not to use a condom, but the call girl insisted that me wear one. It didn't say he actually did!
So he was willing to jeopardize his wife's health as well as the call girl's. Guess he doesn't think to much of women. I too hope the wife gives him his just deserts, and takes him for all she can.

I agree..infidelity is infidelity!

I don't have enough information to know whether or not I see his wife as a victim because I don't know what went on in their marriage, what agreements they might have had etc. There are different reasons that a person will have an affair or a fling and sometimes that has to do with the dynamic of the couple. I do not advocate cheating or agree with it. If I were cheated on with a prostitute or had a fling I would be terrified and angry because of the disease factor and the whole yuck thing. If my wife had a long term loving relationship with someone else, I would be crushed.
-
LOL Naughty, I LOVE Chelsea Lately! She is hysterical and really tells it like it is.
-
I really find this whole affair to be quite sad..............if any of us think what we would do or wouldn't do is asinine...........unless you have lived in that situation there is no telling what you might do..........don't really find the late night monologues to funny........not really sure why this is brothering me this way.........I try to find humor in most situations but the look on Mrs. Spitzer's face was just so sad..........I have a feeling that was probably how my face looked when the Doctor told me I had breast cancer......just think all the judging of Mrs. Spitzer is ignorant...........jmo...........Shokk
-
It tells you a lot about Bill Clinton that he didn't have to pay!
I think a fellow like Spitzer who made his name going after people should have been smarter.
-
You know, when I watched the newscast where he was 'quitting' the other night, I didn't hear much of what he said, but more so, what she was looking like? I tried to imagine her thoughts, and wondered who it was she raised eyebrows to in the audience? Perhaps her lawyer? I kept imagining she was planning his demise and/or financial ruin as she was watching him at the podium.
It didn't much matter WHAT he said, more that I couldn't/can't understand a woman standing by her man in those circumstances. I remember thinking the same thing of Hillary. How could she remain there after the humiliation she must have felt? ANd not this idiots wife is going through it as well as their children?
Regardless of payment for it for freebies, it's still infidelity and still against my rules. I'm not perfect, but most certainly have more belief and feelings for my family than to run them through the gutter with me.
Just my humble opinion.
-
Shokk--finally a human face amidst the comments. I agree totally. None of us can possibly know what we would or wouldn't do in this situation. And I too don't find most of the jokes funny, just sad. Perhaps, Mrs. Spitzer is more concerned about her children and less about herself. It would hardly help the daughters if their mother were to jump on the bandwagon with everyone else at a time when I can only assume they are totally devastated.
