    Hi fellow ILC-girls!

I had my 1 year check-up yesterday, and am very happy to report that I am NED!

I was under the impression that my check-ups would be bi-annually, but yesterday my onc said I should come in for a clinical check-up and bloodwork every 4 months "since it's lobular".

Does lobular have a bigger chance of spreading and/or coming back?

Anyway, for now, I'll just enjoy yesterday's test results...

Congratulations Janine!  I'm just over a year and am seeing my Onc every 3 months.  I'm not sure if it's because I'm lobular or if that's just what he does for a couple years.  I believe lobular has a slighter risk of mirroring in the other breast.  I know there are reports on this, hopefully someone else will come along with more info!

Congrats on the 1 year of NED!  Hoping you have many, many, many more years of nothing but NED! :D

I have read it's more of a risk to the contralateral breast also, but not sure if that was a recent report or another of those outdated ones.  I really wish someone could just take all the outdated ones off the web as the new ones are published and proven :(

Congrats fellow Cape Town. It's a good feeling to get those sort of results.

Keep your check ups regular. It's important.

Congrats on one year.  In 2 months it will be 2 years for me....yeah.  and things are looking good.  Then, I will be on a 6 month schedule for 2 years, then yearly after that.  We are making it.......

Hi Janine, I am so happy you are doing well. Do you know I think it is better to go about every 4 months or so to have a check up, bloodwork etc. It is better to be safe than sorry. And, you know whether it is Ductal or Lobular Cancer, it does not matter. It all is pretty risky. Just stay in control. Janine, I worry about whether my cancer will come back too, but, try to get that out of your mind sweetie, and enjoy today. Still take one day at a time. Take Care.

    Love,

    Janine - Congrats!

I finished chemo 2 years ago. At my last - "every 3 months" checkup - I asked my Onc. if I could graduate to every 6 months and he said NO! Cry So I asked if we could compromise and he said OKAY! Smile So.......I will be going every every 4 months for another year. At each visit, he does a physical exam of both Mast. sites and feels under my armpits for any lymph nodes or lumps, does full blood workup (cbc and cmp?), blood pressure, temp, weight...and I thinks that's it! I hate going, but I am so fortunate that he is so thorough.

    Hi Debi!

Yes, I remember you from the chemo thread. How are you doing? Your 1 year checkup must be coming up soon as well?

Laura: I can't WAIT to be 2 years NED now! I agree with you that it's better to have an onc who's thorough. Hopefully I won't be too nervous before the 4 monthly checkups...

Kaloni! Good to hear from you! How have you been keeping? I sent you a pm, keep in touch, OK?

Rae: Yes, we are making it! Winning the war one battle at a time!

Janine - Congrats on your one year anniversary!! That is always such a good feeling :)

With my Ductal BC in 2000 I had 3 month checkups for the first 2 years, then went to every 6 months for the next 3 years. My Lobular BC was discovered at my last 6 month checkup in Oct 2005 by physical exam. (the Mammogram I had minutes before did not show any problems!)

I passed the 2 year anniversary of my bilateral masts last Dec 2007. Now going on 28 months NED! I am back on 3 month checkups and will continue that indefinitely at this point. I am not in any hurry to spread out my visits... sorta like being followed so closely :)
