    Hey Ladies!

Puppy! You sound in good spirits. How are you doing??

Casey - I have The Road in my pile of books to be read.

I have been kind of down with a cold/flu for the past week, so haven't run since Monday of last week, but did manage to sneak 10 pushups in yesterday morning. Got up early this am to vote, as we have the primary in Ohio today.

    Have a great day!

Puppy- nice to hear from you!

Raye- glad you are feeling better.  I got lazy with my running and will be walking Race for the Cure on Saturday as a result.  We are all anxiously awaiting the results of today's primaries!  Glad you voted!

Casey- I really liked No Country although it was pretty bloody. I, too, plan to read The Road.  I hear it's very good. It's not spring anymore.  It's going to freeze tonight!  March is crazy in Louisiana.  We have wild swings in temperature, so you wear shorts one day and a coat the next.

    Hope everybody is doing well.

Hi ladies, I've been slammed at work since my boss announced two weeks ago that she is leaving. And my husband has had a sinus thing for SIX weeks now, so I'm trying to comfort him... Right now he's taking more meds/herbs than I am!! He can't see the Ear/Nose/Throat specialist for another week, so we're waiting it out. I did enjoy a wonderful b-day this past weekend, and took some pics -- my hair is a bit wild and crazy but I CANNOT cut it -- no, no, no... I want a Pony tail!!

Puppy, your spirit is bright and you always make me laugh. I hope you are feeling well.

    Hi everyone!

I haven't abandoned the thread but have been busy with my sis and mom who have been visiting for the last month.  Everyone wants to spend their winters here in FL!!!!  Can't say that I blame them!!!

Shape Up - what's that?  Needless to say, I haven't worked out much since I had my family here.  We did go for the occasional walk but I need to get down to serious business because some of my clothes are getting tighter.

Hope everyone is doing well.  Puppy - sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.

    Dottie,

I love the new picture and Happy B-day!

Sorry to read about the hubbie, I've had some patient's who have the marathon sinus problems.  Come to think of it, I've been one too....Frown

    Cathy,

Good to hear from you.  You may not have had a chance to work out but it must be nice to have that kind of time with your family.

I can relate to the tighter clothes.  I can't figure out if it is because my muscles are actually growing or it is my love handles. My jeans have become tight in the thighs and in the a##.

We have been covered up with work so I have been sneaking in workouts where ever I can. I am going to the beach this weekend so I'll try to get in a couple of longer bike rides if it doesn't rain.

    Mary,

Let us know how the Race for the Cure went.  Ours is not until May so I have plenty of time to get my a## in gear.  I am just so tired of working out indoors. I now ride the stationary bike while reading Garlic and Sapphires by Ruth Reichl, former NY Times restaurant critic. Now there is a job I could enjoy. I think this weekend I am going to try and make some sort of chocolate and caramel thing.  I have been craving some type of fancy chocolate dessert thing but can't quite figure out what it should be.  Maybe Chinese Five Spice Chocolate Cake (flourless, lots of butterSmile) or something completely new and decadent.

Not good for the waist but yummy for my tummy.

    Have a good weekend ladies.

Puppy - how hilarious!!!  I have the same fear that will happen to me on a treadmill!!!  My prayers and thoughts will be with you on the 10th and 14th.

Casey and Puppy - we would be bad influences upon one another.  I am going to have to abandon chocolate if I don't get myself under control soon.  I ate 1/2 a bag of Dove dark chocolates yesterday.  I'll probably suffer withdrawals today.  My jeans are fitting the same as yours Casey....what's with the a@#?  I'm getting disgusted with myself.

Mary - Good luck on your race this weekend!  I'm walking in the Race for the Cure on the 15th rather than running.  You go girl!!!!

Take care everyone.  Till next time...

Puppy - That is a riot. and that keyboard - you have to stop posting things like that - i gave up sugar for lent. It makes my mouth water. Good luck next week - you certainly have a lot going on. My surgery is next week also, the 13th so I will be thinking of you. I know all our friends here will send positive, healing energy our way. Let me know how you make out.

Mary best of luck with the race. Cathy and Casey - I haven't worked out since November! Which isn't good because inside of me there is a 300 pound woman trying to get out! What the hell, you only go around once. Carol

OMG!  You guys are funny!  Puppy- I always keep one hand on the treadmill when I am running, becuase I am total klutz!  And thanks for the chocolate keyboard.  Wonder if I could get one of those here at the office...

Carol and Puppy- good luck for a speedy recovery next week.  Please update us as soon as you can.  You will both be in my thoughts.

Raye- do you do girl pushups or boy?  I counted last night, and I can report that I did two sets of 15 girl pushups.  Don't know if I could do more than a couple boy ones.

Casey- why would you want to water down that delicious chocolate with caramel?  Isn't there a law against that?  How about a nice chocolate mousse?  With just a hint of frangelico?

Cathy- glad you are enjoying your family visit.

Dottie- sorry to hear your hubby is still sick.

Wish you all a great weekend.  I'll post a Race photo!

oh Puppy, you silly girl you. How are you doing? Am thinking of you.

Good luck Puppy and Carol next week - you'll be on my mind.

Dottie - I love your  new pic. Your hair looks great. Simply gorgeous darling.

Ah, all this talk of chocolate.mmm. I am really craving some fried chicken and jo jo's tonight. Haven't had lunch and am starving!!!

I am clutzy on the treadmill too - even after years. I cannot look around too much, just kind of straight ahead and a bit to the side, otherwise I lose my rhythm, as I do when these weirdos at the gym run backward or sideways on the treadmill and are right next to me- what is up with that?

Mary - I strictly do girl pushups. I think 30 girl pushups is terrific!!! I did two sets of 10 today and my arms were shaky. Can't wait to see a race photo.

Hope you all are doing well. Have a great evening.

Checking in, girls, and just saw your note, Puppy.  I'm here!  You are so funny.  Well, laughter IS the best medicine!  Was it Art Linkletter who coined that phrase?

Good luck, (((Puppy))), on your surgery tomorrow. Kiss Kiss  Kiss  We're rooting for you.

In the meantime, dh is constantly reminding me about my jumping rope program.  He won't let me forget.  Just what I need, another conscience. LOL

Other than that, I'm working on doing last year's bookkeeping and taxes.   That ought to occupy me for the next couple of weeks.  Having surgery scheduled for the end of March is prompting me to get it all done early this year for the first time in about 20.  I'm my own worst enemy.

Dottie, Carol, Cathy, your hair is looking good!  Has anyone had a cut yet?

Tina, you must be so excited/nervous/elated - probably many more emotions in there as well. I am excited for you.

Carol and Pups - will be thinking of you two tomorrow!!!! xoxoxo!!!!!

I agree - the hair looks wonderfully beautiful ladies.

Cut??? NO WAY! Innocent -  that's a lie -  I've had mine cut (very small trims) twice since it has come back.

Here are a couple of shots of my hair now - 14 months post chemo. It's growing slowly...and the curl is beginning to come out. Maybe by summer I can wear a pony tail - I can get it up somewhat with many clips and hairspray.

    up, eww close up.

    Hi Tina,

Actually the surgery I am having is to repair damage from a botched laproscopic hysterectomy. I can't wait to get it over with. My husband is a great cook, thank God because I can barely make sandwiches! Carol

Raye- you are adorable with your curls!

Tina- what surgery are you having?

Race for the Cure was a lot of fun.  I walked it with my team.  Maybe I'll run it next year!

    Carol,

my husband took great care of me during my surgeries - including doing all of the cooking - which he does anyway.

Mary - great job on the Race. Our Race in Cleveland is not until September - so I have some time to get ready.

Taking my pics off now. Just wanted you guys to see the hair growth.

Carol - wishing you the best with your surgery Thurs.  I will be thinking about you.

Mary - congrats on the Race.  Mine is coming up this Sat and I'm excited.  I've got lots of friends walking with me.

I need to start going back to the "Y".  My walking buddy and I aren't doing too well together.  Her 2 yr old is not cooperating in his stroller and it's hard to focus on the walk these days.  My rear end has starting spreading and I've gained 5 pounds!!!!

    Hope everyone is doing well.

    Hi Spa Girls!!!

Missed ya!!! Had no idea I'd be back so soon...you looked like you were having so much fun!!!   Enjoyed your pictures.  I've got a few too.  I am actually wearing my hair...

Well, I got some not so good news too...I've been having recurrent bladder problems that the last test showed a lot of suspicious looking cells so there is some concern that I have bladder cancer.  I am going in next week for a cat scan and cytoscopy.

Sometimes it takes something serious like this to find out who your real friends are...ironically, some of the people who've I'd cared about the most are not even remotely concerned about me, can't be bothered to respond to calls or emails....maybe I should just straighten out and not get so bent out of shape!!

Carol, wishing you great luck on your surgery!!!  I may be the next one with a Foley Bag!!!

    Hi girls,

I didn't check in for a while, and I missed Raye's pix ... dang. Mary, glad you enjoyed your Race last weekend, and Cathy, yours this coming weekend... I'm looking forward to mine in June. I have been working so much that I haven't been to the gym in weeks, but trying to walk at lunch now and then.

Carol, I may be too late to wish you well tomorrow, but I'll be thinking of you. And also of Puppy --- hoping you are recovering quickly. Mizzy -- goodness, I hope your bladder test is negative, and remember, your true friends will be there for you.

Tina, Casey -- hope all is well with you.  ((((HUGZZZ)))  to everyone. Dottie

    Hi Ladies!

    Mizsissy!! Hello again!

I don't know where to start.

To our two ladies having undergone recent surgery.....

Puppy, Puppy, Puppy-I hope you are well on your way to recovery.

Thank you for the laughs.  My husband was very impressed with the chocolate keyboard.

Carol-I hope all went well today and you are resting comfortably (even if it is with the help of big pharma).

    Mizsissy,

I am so glad you are back. I hope your tests are negative.

Between you, Puppy and Carol we are going to have to rename this thread the "When it rains it pours" thread.

    Raye,

I'm bummed to have missed the pics.

I remain impressed, girl push-ups or not.

    Tina,

I would definitely rather jump rope then work on my taxes. TG for accountants ( especially patient ones).

I have graduated from trims to haircuts.  I finished chemo in October 2006 so I have had plenty of time to grow it back.  It is a lot thinner then it's pre-chemo self and the curl is starting to straighten.  I have learned that the trick to looking like you have a healthy head of hair is color it so it becomes damaged, hang out in humid air and hair spray.  I can now pull the top back like a three year old with a top knot on her head. I would post a pic but my passport picture has made me frightened of getting in front of the camera any time soon.

    Mary,

Glad the Race for the Cure went well. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics!

    Cathy,

I hope getting back to the Y has been motivating.  We just got some new equipment in the gym so I have been working myself back into the jeans.

    Dottie,

Do you ever just feel like you are in a particle accelerator? My days lately have just gone "Poof".

Spring is in the air.  I can't wait to plant. Day dreaming about Kale and Collards and Onions.  I'm going to convince my husband to pick up a few loads of manure this weekend.Smile

Just poppin in quickly to say hello and see if anybody has heard from Carol yet.

    Raye...you pictures are just lovely.

Dottie, thanx for your kind words.

Mary, looking for your race photo.

Tina, how's that rope workin' out (pun intended!!!)

Casey...oh yah...spring is in the air.  The birds are chirping like crazy, the cats are getting excited, and DH & I just went for our first bike ride of the season.  It was awesome!!!  There's something about a workout on a bike that you just don't get any other way...tunes up your pipes and cleans out your carburerator (sp!)...We had to slow down in a few icy spots and walk the bikes out of the snow-covered driveway, but it was basically clear sailing!!!

Off to drawing...we've had some wonderful models recently...the best ever.

Won't know about test results until the end of the week, but I've already been told I don't have an infection, and no other explanation was given for the "abnormal cells" other than the C-word...but I am still hopeful.  Whatever happens I am not going to do chemo (just getting my hair back dammit) and I am not going to waste any more of life as a professional patient!!! I'm going to enjoy every minute!!

Mizsissy - So good to hear fro you. My thoughts are prayers are with you. I am sorry you have to worry like this.

Spring is in the air, isn't it? Love it, although it is rainy and cloudy here today, but warmer!

Carol - hope you are doing well. Please let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it.

Casey and Dottie - you didn't miss much. ha. I cannot wait to work outside either, although here it will be awhile before I can plant anything.

We had a blizzard this weekend - oh it was beautiful. Took our dog to the park to walk, helped a lady get her car out of the snow and got her home safely and then shoveled. I rewarded myself with some fried chicken Weds night. ugh - and are my jeans tight today! Got to get it in gear, as a girlfriend and I are going to Florida in April.

    Have a wonderful weekend girls.

It's snowing here AGAIN, ladies!  Thank goodness it's almost spring.

Miz, I am so sorry to hear you have more to worry about.  I'll be hoping and praying for the best for you.

Jumprope update:  I LUV it!  It is amazing that I can even use it in the house without shaking the rafters.  I love being able to keep jumping until I think I've burned enough calories.  That little computer in the handle is great.  AND I've decided that I'm going to keep it in the office with me so that I can use it for spare minutes here and there throughout the day.  Just to shake things up a bit.  LOL  Enough to shake........Hopefully less soon.

All you wonderful ladies have a perfect weekend.  Walk the dogs, sit by the fire (or work in the garden, depending upon your climate), go out to dinner with dh or a dear friend.  Just enjoy life.

    Hi Everyone,

I am still in the hospital but feeling quite a bit better today.  Yesterday I could barely sit up let alone think about getting on the laptop.  My surgery went well and they are just monitoring now and taking care of a few problems.  The nephrostomy should come out today (whoo whooo) and I can feel that I am getting better.  Thank you all for the good wishes - Mizzy and Puppy - you are both in my prayers.  Thnaks for thinking of me - hope to be back to my old self soon.  Love to all, Carol
