After being on tamoxifen since august 2007 my onc is switching me to aromasin.  I was premenepausal when I found out I had breast cancer and it put me into menopause.  I have not had a period for one year so she thinks I am now postmenopausal.  I will be going for 3 monthly blood tests and a bone density test.  The tamoxifen gave me awful hot flashes and night sweats  and I have tried gabapentin to help  with them but its not working thats why she thinks I am postmenepausal.  Does anyone have any insight into taking Aromasin.  Anyone on tamoxifen then switched to aromasin and did you find it better?  Any help would be great.

I've had no problem on aromasin - I too was on tomoxifen for 2 years and then switched - it's been just about 2 years now, as well.  Sometimes I think I get achey (ie. rarely once, every couple of months)....but that could be my very active lifestyle.  I just take a tylenol if it really bothers me and keeps me awake ( I've only ever noticed it at night).  I also take it in the morning with my breakfast.   My hot flashes definitely decreased to maybe once, every few months.  I noticed the pharmacist recently put on one of those warning labels that may cause dizziness.....but I've never noticed that before.

oh, should add.....rather significant impact....of aromasin - was vaginal dryness.  I would talk to your oncologist right up front  about that - and perhaps go on something right away - because once the dryness sets in, it's hard to stop - and to be blunt, intercourse is painful - and avoided by me
