Yes, La Vie en Rose is on my best movie list.  I couldn't understand why it wasn't nominated for an Oscar.  France did not submit it for consideration.  They submitted a cartoon instead.  La Vie would have won for Best Foreign Picture without a doubt.

My list of clunkers got bigger.  Slip Stream.  I thought it was going to give me a stroke because of all the scene flickering going on constantly.  I had to turn it off.

I did like No Country for Old Men even though it was dark and quirky. I also liked There Will be Blood - also dark and strange.  I think that says a lot about me. I saw Into the Wild and liked it very much although it was so, so sad.  History of Violence and Eastern Promises were good also.  Juno was fun and well done. La Vie en Rose and American Gangster were fabulous.

My SO and I see a lot of movies on TV, Netflix and in the theater.  I think they're a wonderful distraction.  I'll look for Be Kind Rewind. There's a wonderful series on HBO (On Demand if you have it) called In Treatment.  It's about a psychotherapist (which I was at one time), his family and his patients.  Well done.

I never watched the wire but I'll try it.  I love, love Dexter.  It's on CBS now but it'll be back on Showtime in the Fall.  Much more intense without the commercials.

OK, it was hardly profound, but the other night when I got totally sick of worrying about my biopsy AND my finances, I rented "The Jane Austen Book Club" and it succeeded in taking me out of my insanity. It's adorably romantic and definitely a chick flick....my fave!

I saw it several years ago.  It was interesting to see who was doing what during that evening. I wished it ended differently.

    Hi all,

I have not seen a good movie in a while. I have Netflix and just cannot find anything to watch. I like scary (no blood and gore) movies, good (not stupid comedies, and uplifting movies about women.

I liked Bobby. It was interesting.

My favorite movie is Priscilla, Queen of the desert. It is about 3 drag queens going across Australia. The costumes, the scenery, and the Abba music are all great. It is hilarious and uplifting. I rarely watch a movie more than one with the execption of this one and Steel Magnolias. I have watched Priscilla about 12 times and loved every time.

As for HBO shows, I loved the Comeback with Lisa Kudrow. She is wonderful in this. I got the series from Netflix.

The movies I had enjoyed recently were

Pirates of the Carribean (the first two)

For Your Consideration-all of Christopher Guest's movies are great!

    Factory Girl

    Mrs. Brown

Not much and they are not new so it just seems the Hollywood is going downhill.

I just got the Gift with Cate Blanchett (2000). I hope it is good.

I need something good to watch.

If you have On Demand, you can watch Dexter, Rescue Me, In Treatment - all great series.  There will be a new series on HBO this Sunday - John Adams.  It looks wonderful.

I also loved, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

For those of you who are Beatles fans, Across the Universe is a treat.

I just watched "Into the Wild."  Had read the book too.  I was wondering if anyone else here had seen the movie or read the book?  Just curious b/c there seem to be so many different reactions - even between my DH and I.  I felt bad for the guy after the book but I actually cried at the end of the movie.  Anyone else. . .??

I saw "Into the Wild" when I was newly diagnosed.  I cried and cried. My SO thought the kid was nuts for going out there in the first place.

I rented "Pay it Forward" (never saw it before) and "Feast of Love" (with Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear) this weekend. OMG - I cried my head off (although "Feast" had some very funny scenes as well) and went though a half a box of tissues...

Ok, resurrecting this thread.  Saw Indiana Jones last weekend - great for the kids, see it on a big screen instead of waiting for DVD, on a scale of 1 - 10, we gave it a 6.5.

Saw Sex And The City yesterday - loved, loved, loved it.  I would see it again and will buy it when it comes out on DVD.  I laughed so hard through a good part of the movie and shed a few tears too.  Great movie.  6 girls went to see it and then had dinner afterwards.  Great evening.
