I thought it would be great to start a conversation where we can congratulate each other on our cancerversary date.

I count my  time from the date of surgery.  my surgery was may 19, 2006 so this may will be my 2 year cancerversary.

This way we will be able to have the support of one another even if no one else including so's ( sob's)   ha ha don't.

i've discovered i don't use any one date.  in my head i have a bunch of them that i think about as they approach.  the day i discovered the tumor, 2/23/06, day confirmed, chemo start/end date, surgery, end of rads.  i wish i COULD settle on one date and forget the rest of the cancer milestones.

maybe i should just say 2006. LOL.

My special 'date' is March 3rd. Three years ago that was my lumpectomy date, thus when the tumor was removed, so that's my milestone. All the other surgery dates and the chemo/rads dates are a blur. When I ended all tx in October '05 I celebrated by getting a tattoo! This year I have no real celebration planned other that starting a new job! :)

I guess 2/22/07 will be mine as that's the date of my lumpectomy to remove the cancer. It passed this year with no one giving it a thought but me, which I guess is OK since I don't want my family obssessing over it like I do. I have a mastectomy w/recon scheduled for 4/2 to fix the damage caused by radiation.

I also have a biopsy scheduled on the other side for 3/19. . .keep your fingers crossed I don't have to add a 2008 anniversary date.

If I had to wait until my surgery date it would be too long.  I had neoadjuvant chemo.  I consider the date I found my lump, Dec. 7, 2004.  I had my surgery in June (I think) Dec '05.

Sam, no one ever thinks about any of these dates..not even me.  LOL  The only time I really think about my "versary" is around Christmas time which was about the time I had my biopsy and dx.

Celebrating one year!! Lumpectomy-2/08/07. Did not plan this but flew that day to Orlando w/parents for a week's vacation. Realized the date when I was at the airport. Financially unable to travel last year due to out of pocket medical expenses. Hope to make this last year in my 50's a very special one. Cheers to us hi5!!LaughingWink

I consider the date my cancer was confirmed 11/7/06 as my date.  That's the date that changed my life.

Other than my family's BD's the only other date I remember is Oct.4, '02, when I had mastectomy.

Most consider diagnosis as anniversary date but I use the date the cancer was removed from my body which is Oct 21 2005.

    'Tis the season.

Jaybird, I share yours for one - 3/3/6 was my lumpectomy too. Unfortunately, it wasn't able to remove the whole thing.

So, I have several that I note

Feb 10 - the ultrasound where I realized I was looking at my cancer

Feb 15 - the phone call with the official diagnosis

    March 3 - the lumpectomy

    March 17 - first chemo

    June 26 - last chemo

    Aug 4 - mastectomy

Jan 17 - last recon surg

It's certainly less intense this year than it was last year, for sure!

Congratulations to everyone on their cancerversary!  I just celebrated 2 years last month.  I go by my date of diagnosis, when I officially began the fight, February 13, 2006.

I hope everyone celebrates!  Blessings and hugs to all...

Hi everyone.  My one year cancerversary of dx is coming up on March 14th.  My blm cancerversary is March 29th.  It's not something I feel like celebrating.  I'm feeling rather emotional about it all.

Angel, my one year cancerversary was VERY emotional as well.  My feelings that day were similar to the first anniversary of my father's death! I was sooo sad...I was in mourning....mourning the loss of my health, the loss of my innocence, and the loss of my former carefree self. These cancerversaries can be difficult...but they do get better...you"ll see. Hang in there!!

My favorite flower is the Tulip...my sisters(I have 5) send me a big tulip bouquet on every March 26(my cancerversry). These flowers let me know that I am never alone, and that one of the worst days of my life was also one of their's.

Julie .. that's very sweet of your sisters to do!  I have 4, we'll see if they remember.  I know my twin will, my dx cancerversary is also her wedding anniversary.  It's also another sisters dh's birthday!  sigh.... I'm very sad and mourning all that you say.  But I come here for the great support and friendships from my sisters who get it.  Laughter is great medicine too and I look for that as well.  Thank you for your post.  Tulips are so beautiful

I'm going to count my day as March 15, 2007.  One day before my 44th birthday when my ob-gyn found the lump that changed my life.

On March 15 THIS year, I'll be celebrating being done with treatments on the beach in Florida!!

wow... lots of march cancerversaries.... I counted the day of surgery and no one contacted me on the date to celebrate my 1 year survival.  I guess it was just another day to them.  sounds like a few of you have some wonderful support and people to celebrate with.  That's wonderful and you are all such wonderful women.  Hugs to you all

I also think of the day of my mast as the 'cancerversary'......the day 'it' was removed from my body. The day I lost my breast.

    It was 30th November 2001

I think about it with sadness every year (tinged with some optimism that yet another year has gone by).No-one else seems to remember, although I know my mother would have silently done so, not wishing to 'remind' me about it.This year she is not here to remember.

The day my surgeon told me it was cancerous- Jan 18, 2006, my son's 18th birthday. I am a single mom and we are very close. It was not a happy day. In 2006 I had a mastectomy, chemo, radiation. When I finished treatment, I had a profilactic mastecomy on the non-cancer side, port removal and hysterectomy (all in one surgery) What a year!

Today I am the happiest woman alive- I just got the results of my last pet-ct scan; there is no evidence of disease!!!! So I am celebrating a two year fifty-two day cancerversary!  Disease, free a new boyfriend, my children doing well; here's to the best part of my life; now and the years ahead! w00t!

    Julie,

    Congratulations on 11 years NED!!!

I also have many different dates, but the one I celebrate is March 15th, 2007, when I had my biopsy, 'cause that is when my surgeon took IT out, and he took ALL of it!!  My mastectomy, bi-lat was May 2nd, but the pathology report said that there was no more cancer....so he got it all...

Congratulations to all MARCH cancerversaries!!  May we have MANY MANY MORE YEARS NED!!

    Julie...that is awesome! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I count only one day, the one that turned my world upside down and that was the day of my biopsy. Even though I sort of knew it would be cancer, the actual invasive character of the surgery made it very real. And I didn't even get the path for a few days, but when I looked at the tissue samples floating in that jar, I just knew. That was April 5, 2005....almost 3 years ago. I think that I've been transformed more in these past 3 years than in the entire 52 years that preceeded them. Oddly, I believe that the change was only for the better.

My one year Cancerversary, from diagnosis, is March 28.

Unfortunately, I'll be having a biopsy tomorrow morning. If this wasn't a leap year, tomorrow would have been my 1 year...weird how the dates are...
