    Hello Everyone,

I am here for the first time. I just wanted to see what do you do when given what I call the death sentence? I know that sounds horrible but my aunt was told yesterday that the Dr. will speak with the family 3/5/08 @ 11:30 she has had a mastectomy 2 yrs. ago the cancer was slow moving but has progressed to her hips her lumbar, and pretty much everywhere. I lost my daddy to lymphoma 20 months ago on Mother's day, but we were told on Friday, daddy died on Sunday so talk about shock and all. Please tell me how to talk to her. She has lost 2 other sisters to cancer just 3 months apart, 2 brothers murdered, the family has had nothing but grief it seems like. That's all I can say for now. Thanks for listening.Cry

    Neice,

Im not sure I have the magic words to help you, but believe me, your not alone!!!! My family has gone through tons of deaths due to cancer, including my dad, my grandmother was murdered......the list goes on and on....I think the way to talk to her is to listen to what she says and follow her lead......

You might also be surprised at this meeting tomorrow.....he may want to discuss treatment options or care for your aunt....

I know this is a really scarey time for you, but you really are a wonderful neice to come here like this and seek advice....

Come again and continue to talk to us when you need...

    Hugs

    Jule

    Neice1,

I am so sorry for all the deaths your family has experienced.  But I agree with Jule that your aunt may get some news that is not so bleak.  There are medicines that might help to control the cancer in her bones (hip and lumbar, as you mentioned).

Hoping for the best for you and your family,

    Ann
