    I realize this is probably highly inappropriate, but at this point I'm exhausting all my options out of desperation. Sorry if anyone is offended.

    Oh, honey, I really don't know if this is allowed on this site-it seems kind of on the verge of being an issue.  I did look at your site, and I am so sorry this is happening to you.  

    Cancer does bring along it's share of other maladies, doesn't it?  There is other help.  I got assistance through Patient Access Network, Cancer Care, and was supposed to get assistance through another one, but because of slow-moving paperwork, it fell through. 
    You can also ask at your church-we have a "Gifts of Love" committee at our (sad face) former church, and the weekend we found out the huge grant had fallen through, someone from church donated it to us.  

    Call Susan G. Komen and ask for resources, they will give you several.  

    Again, I know that the financial aspect of cancer is terrifying, and with a lay-off thrown in the mix, I can't even imagine.

    Maybe there will be some sources of assistance for you there. Also, the UNITED WAY has a 2-1-1 telephone number in many locations where you can call and they will point you to programs in your area that might help.

    I think a lot of us start floundering financially when bc hits. For many of us, jobs are lost or insurance coverage is just not there. Changes like having to order in food more often and hiring babysitters for the kids all add up. Gas to get to and from treatments and "comfort" items like bandages, lotions, etc. don't seem like that much, but it all seems to keep piling on.

    I was a stay at home mom and my husband was getting his new business off the ground when cancer hit--stage IV right from the start. We lost the income from a rental property because "friends" didn't feel like paying the rent or untilities anymore; it was then foreclosed on. My husband lost his business and our costs just kept increasing. I was without insurance when my dx came, so things have been pretty interesting around here!

    I spent lots of time looking for programs that might help and realized I should share what I found with others so I started the wikispace. I have many more sources to post but have been sort of dragging my feet in getting them organized.   I didn't see on your listing in which state you are located. If you wouldn't mind sharing your location with me, I might have some other options for you that I haven't posted yet.

    I am so sorry you are going through this. It's bad enough to have to deal with cancer without all the added stress of financial strain.

    Sue, If you need help with prescriptions, call Chronic Disease Fund... I found the # on line. They help people who have health insurance but still can't afford the prices. Go to the americancancersociety.com...they have lists of organizations can help in other financial situations too. Good luck to you.

    If you have outstanding hospital bills, you can contact the hospital to see if they have a charity program.

    So sorry that you are facing this besides cancer.  My hubby got laid off when I got diagnosed.  Somehow we clawed our way back.  Our church helped us out some and we just kept on going as best we could.  The drug company still covers the cost of my Arimidex so that's good to check into. 

    We listened to Dave Ramsey on the radio and he helped us figure out a budget and who to pay first. 

    Also, our clinic had a community care program that lopped about 10K off our bill for us.

    another site to try is ModestNeeds.org

    I myself used them this past fall to help with the bills for some of my chemo/rad copays.
