I recently had a follow up visit with a breast specialist who suggested I get a better fitting bra than what I am currently wearing. I have lymphedema so I go for the softest and most comfortable I can find.  I had lumpectomy surgery 8/06, followed by radiation.  I'm completely healed so I feel that my breast size is what it is going to be-lopsided of course.  Does anyone know where you can get comfortable, supportive bras?  I don't think there is much I can do about being lopsided but thought I would throw it out there amongst the knowledgeable and experienced woman that post on this site.

Any comments/information would be helpful and appreciated!

    Thanks-

    Veronica

There are prostheses to make you look even in a bra.  After struggling to find bras that didn't accentuate the lopsidedness, I finally was fitted for a prosthesis.  While I am not an expert, there are several different styles, some of which can be worn with a regular bra.  Any place with a person who sells mastectomy bras and prostheses should be able to help you and it may be covered by your insurance.  Other women have had luck with "over the counter" gel pads.  (You would only need one.)

    Good luck.

You can buy comfortable supportive bras nearly anywhere IF you're buying the proper size.

It is well worth it to be professionally fitted.

Why not try a regular department store, I personally don't recommend Victoria's Secrect although some like it? If you decide you need a partial prosthesis to even yourself out then look into a specality store.

If you have a Nordstrom around that would be the best choice as they are known for their fitting services.  Many stores run fitting clinics, look around for one.

I would suggest that you go to a place where you can be measured. It is extremely important since you have lymphoedema.  I am from Quebec, Canada, so I can not give you any addresses in your area.

The size of the bra is the first thing to consider. Then, favor a bra with larger straps, and more like a camisole-bra. The weight will be better distributed.
