Is anybody reading A New Earth? It is Oprah's Book Club book written by Eckhart Tolle. She is doing a weekly interactive session on-line starting Mon, March 3. The book is a self help book, sorta? He also wrote The Power of Now. I think it will help me, I guess it is supposed to lead you to "a path of  truly fulfilling existence"

You need to register at oprah.com if you wanna join. It cost no money, except for the book.

I just started reading it, but I went on the message board and the first person I talked to was a new bc survivor.

This is not advertising it, I just wanna let some of you Oprah fans know it is out there, as I said, I haven't even read the book yet. Please don't buy it on my recommendation. Maybe I will see you over at oprah.com

Oh, I read that a long time ago (when it first came out). Good stuff though. I'm going to re-read The Power of Now which since having BC (read that, too, a long time ago) seems more poignant and do-able but reminders never hurt, eh? Enjoy your reading!

I guess it is all about living your life to the fullest in the most positive way.

After what we have all been thru, we go thru so many changes. At one point I was so positive and loving each day, the three years a survivor, all I can see is the scars, weight gain, loss of libido, etc... I need some new new fresh eyes and don't want a reccurrence to get me there.

I am thankful for all of you, you guys "get it"

Hi Christine - My sis bought me "Sage-ing while Age-ing" by Shirley Maclaine(sp?) for Christmas which I can't seem to get past the first chapter in.  All I've been receiving for the past couple of years as gifts are self-help, inspirational type books that I can't seem to get through.  I must put out "get the girl some help" vibes but what I really think I need is a good, old-fashioned raunchy, dirty book to read.  LOL!!

Seriously, let me know if it's good reading when you're done.  I know that this girl does need some focus in her life and maybe this may clue me in.

Good to see you, by the way!!

    HA!

HA! Lini, that's funny! (funny to me anyway!) I guess those I know know better than to give me any 'self-help' type books as I haven't received any. Maybe because I'm usually the one helping them and offering advice???

Wayne Dyer's 'new' book (came out last year) is very readable and a good reminder of how to set priorities and live life to the fullest. It's good for those of us who aren't 'religious' as he doesn't preach about a god but about one's own personal 'higher power'. It's his smaller, shorter book. I think he published two last year?? I obviously don't have it handy, must have misplaced it as I wasn't feeling the need for more self-help?Undecided

Christine, I heard about this book.  I haven't been browsing at any store lately since I am sticking to my budget (and am weak ... if I go near a store, stuff flies into my bag!).  Maybe I can order it online.  Even with shipping it's cheaper than buying 10 books!!

Christine - well of course I am reading this book.  Do you think we both always read the same book? I bought A New Earth a couple of weeks ago, though haven't gotten far in it, it seems like a lot of good info and good messages.

I tried to log on at oprah.com but had technical difficulties.  I sent an email to the oprah technical people, and I'm sure they'll get right on it LOL!

Kelly...Why don't you try half.com for your books? I haven't tried them yet, but I think it was Amy who said you can get good deals on books.

Well, I'm up for a "path of truly fulfilling existence," so maybe I'll check it out. I've been on Oprah.com discussing Eat, Pray, Love, my new bible. I also adore Dr. Oz and his latest book, Staying Young. I really get so much out of self-help books (except how to get off my butt and stop reading self-help books!)....my sister and I call oursdelves "bibliotherapists"!

Hey Marin - how are you?

I LOVE the book Eat, Pray, Love.  I have seen the author a couple of times on Oprah too.

I have a stack of books I've yet to read.  I need more spare time.  Damn job LOL!

Okay, girls, I want to know if this is just one more of those books that tell you the same old things that you already know.  What's your opinion?  I have not read it but am suspicious of the genre.  However, always willing to learn something new IF I don't have to journal! Smile

Alright, I am only on Ch 4, but really liking this book and Oprah's workbook . I tried to log onto the interactive class tonight at oprah.com and kept getting shut down! aarrrgghh!

Was anyone able to join the class? I saw that there were over

    700,000 people registered!

So far, by the fourth chapter, this book does not preach any particular religion, just the religion of "being"

Donna- I can not believe we are reading the same book again! Getting spooky? If we looked anything alike I would think we are twins separated at birth! lol Laughing

Marin, I went to Barnes and Nobles, picked out 4 books and by the time we got to the counter, my dd and I eliminated 2 and each just had one book!  Yah!!

I got the New Earth and now will try to read it!
