I thought after a mastectomy 2 years ago I would need to get a fitted bra and prosthetic.  Nope.  Hospital sent me to their "Visiting Nurses" office where I was asked what size I wore.  She dug out some prostheses and asked me what felt good.  Then found some 44C bras and handed them to me.  Never saw a measuring tape and she never touched me.  Frequently she would leave to answer phone.  Still feel like it's not quite right.  Was told large size bras are hard to find.  Anyone else?

Dear Traveler...I have some supplies I use for those in need....maybe I have something..I have some really unusal sizes...?... I went to a medical supply place for a fitting, or contact the American Cancer Society for someone in your area..

    Traveler,

If you have insurance or if you can afford to buy a prosthesis, I really suggest you visit a certified fitter. They aren't all great, but some of them can do wonders at helping you find the right size bra and breast form, for a very comfortable fit.

Thanks for the replies.  I did get a prosthesis    but we have recently changed insurance companies.  Guess I was dumb but I figured the hospital's "visiting nurses"  were certified fitters.  They handle all types of prosthetics and supplies for many illnesses such as diabetes.

A good fitter will measure you and look at you with the bra/prosthesis on to make sure that it fits properly.
