Planetstrands, how are you doing?

Hi Planetstrands,

Are you OK? You had some major pain and issues to decide on. Did you find a reason for your pain? My mom has problems with Neupogen causing bone pain, but I haven't had any side affects from 2 years of Arimidex. Hope you're finding some relief.

sally, i JUST saw this!!! i am so sorry to have missed it!!! i had explain surgery on nov. 1... 41/2 hrs., en bloc (which is THE way to go). my pain is still very much with me. my bone pain started with neupogen, continued a bit with tamox, and i have finally figured out it is now from the aromasin. there are four studies out there which substantiate bone and joint pain as AI SEs, but no solutions. my onc and i decided i should quit AIs... it has almost been 5 years of amox and aromasin, combined. here is hoping that it is not too early. i stopped 5 weeks ago, and still, no progress. let there be relief around the bend! this is very, very hard, and i have very little resolve remaining. i hope your mom is better. thanks for checking in. oh, and i decided that flat is fine. it is downright liberating : ) adele

    Hi Adele!

I like your photo.  You look like a Spirit of Springtime!

I sure hope going off the AI will help you.  It's so frustrating to have the meds that are supposed to heal you be the source of pain and illness.  I guess that's the whole premise of chemo, but they really didn't say much about AIs having side effects.

I'm with you on the "flat is fine".  Did you see my post about "Failing the Torture-by-Reconstruction"? I'm focused on getting back my strength now.

    Take care,

    Hi again,

I've been taking Arimidex for two years.  I've shrunk 1/2" (And I was only 5'3" to begin with!) so I take Fosomax, and I've had cramps in my calves that comes and goes.  But not too bad with side affects.

They didn't test me for BRCA.  My mom's onc said that we might have it, but we might have another gene that helps keep the cancer away until we're older.  (I was dx at 51, my sister at 60, and my mom's ovarian c at 80) I do want my other 2 sisters and daughters to be vigilant anyway.

The PS took the implants out, and excised the skin, although I wish they were tidier scars.  I need to get back to PT and massage to restore myself.

SICK OF THIS!!  And I also need some sunshine!

    sally,

i, too am SOOO SICK OF IT ALL! let's vow to get a little more pro-active about restoring our bodies, even though it feels almost impossible... massage and PT, for certain (i keep forgetting/sleeping through appts.). with enough coffee fueling us, maybe we can begin to reclaim our bodies. please keep in touch and let me know how it's going, from time to time. spring is coming... spring is coming...
