Laugh of the day

I went into the womens' underwear section of a department store yesterday and asked if they had bras with pockets. The sales lady said, "Like to keep money in?" Even with this awful disease, there's still things to laugh about and some good food.

Hmmm. This reminds me of my first prosthesis-shopping experience. Despite my surgeon's okay, the idiot fitter thought I shouldn't be getting a phosthesis yet and refused to fit me. Instead she told me to go home and "practice" wearing a weighted bra so when I finally got a prosthesis I'd be ready for it. When I asked her what a weighted bra was, she told me to wear one of my old bras with a couple of quarter-rolls in the cup.
Yeah, right! A couple of filthy rolls of quarters banging around against my chest is better than a soft, fitted prosthesis!
Needless to say, I promptly found myself another fitter, but we still joke about her completely crazy "money pocket" idea. (Well, we joke NOW -- at the time there were angry tears...
)
This is all an adventure, yes?!

Back in the early 60s my Gran had a radical mastectomy and couldn't afford the prothesis. She used to keep her cigarettes, lighter and large wallet in the bra (she was very large busted). As young children we were astounded and amazed when she pulled stuff out, esp in stores! She always joked about how handy it was. We were more than a little disappointed when she stopped doing it. Found out years later that my Mom and sisters had pooled money to get her a fitted prothesis.
I still miss my Gran after all these years. She was the best and I wish she had lived long enough to know her better. She never let cancer get in the way of enjoying life and pulling jokes on people.

Our office was having a weight loss club and the one closest to their goal got all the money. I was so close to my goal, I took out my fake boob to try and lose the extra weight. It did not work, I did not reach my goal. They thought it was funny when I reached in my bra and pulled out the rubber boob.
