    Anyone doing IV vitamin C infusions??

    I was reading up on that on my sisters behalf, she had colon cancer and I found an article that sounded beneficial.

    She's overseas.

    Do doc's in the US do those too?

    Yes, Ive actually had two already and both times perked me right up from chemo toxicity...

    Cinderella, I've read about them and would do them in a heartbeat IF I could find anyone to do them.  What kind of Dr. did you find and does insurance pay for it?  TIA

    Hello, I was lucky to find out about an alternative place here. Unfortunatley insurance doesnt pay-had to put it on charge card.Imagine that-insurance will pay for chemo(poison)but nothing that will make you well... They did cover the many labs that they drew on me,and I have an 1 1/2 hr appt this week. Ever had a conventional doc spend that kind of time with you?? Anyhoo, I bet there is a way to look up on the Internet to maybe locate a place near you? Maybe under alternative health care providers? I live in a relatively small southern town and we have a place. Good luck to you!!! Another thing we are going to be looking into is the acidity of my body. I have researched much on this and it seems if you can get your body alkaline instead of acidic you have much less chance of becoming ill. I will find out more about that.

    Cinderella, Thanks for the info.  We finally have an naturopathic consultant who practices about an hour from me but she doesn't do anything 'medical' like blood draws or infusions because she isn't an actual Dr.  I had already dabbled with the acid/alkaline thing on my own.  (Contrast showers (hot, then cold) help with your alkalinty).  My naturopath did check that along with my minerals (hair analysis) and hormones (saliva test).  Keeping inflammation at bay is also important.  Best wishes in your quest for HEALTH!!!!

    I had vitamin C IVs through my treatment for colon cancer 5 years ago.  I really think they helped with my energy level.  I have a friend who is a naturopathic physician.  He helped me with a lot of supplements and nutrition advice during my 6 months of chemo.  I think it all helped to get me through a little easier, with less sickness.

    I was just diagnosed with breast cancer last week and will be working with him again.  As breast cancer is a completely different deal, I'm not sure about the vitamin C IVs this time.  However, I will definitely consider them if recommended again.

    A while back, I remember reading that the University of Pennsylvania engaged in a trial of vitamin c infusions but now I'm unable to find any info.

    Please also know that the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is conducting clinical trials to determine the efficacy of IV Vitamin C in treating cancer.  It just started a year ago and I think they are still taking participants based on my discussions with the Research Director.

    I tried to join this trial, but apparently it is only open to those who have no additional conventional treatment options available.  I even asked if I could sign a waiver acknowledging that I was choosing to forego the conventional treaments, and they told me that the FDA (who has approved the study) would not let them do that.

    squeaky peaches--I notice you say that you had colon cancer and now have breast cancer.  Has anyone discussed hnpcc with you?  It's a genetic issue and perhaps one that you should investigate.

    Hi, squeaky. I too had both types of cancer. Colon at age 27 and breast at age 41. Actually tested positive for the hnpcc mutation, and have read extensively on NCI's website about a muir-torre syndrome, a variation of hnpcc, which specifically mentions colon and breast cancer.

    In response to Cinderella, my wife who was diagnosed with stage 3, her-2 pos. breast cancer with lymph node involvement, has been on Herceptin, and also weekly (sometimes every other week) intravenous C for over a year.  She was up to 100 grams twice a week toward the beginnning, but found it to be a bit too much.  She's now at 75 grams.  Her Cat-Scans so far have been favorable, she continues her work which is physically demanding, and has more energy than I do.
