Has anyone tried Tian Xian?

Hi,
I have read so many testimonials on this miracle Chinese drug. has anyone tried it? Do you know of anyone who has tried it?
Here is the website http://www.tianxian.com/. I am contemplating whether to buy it or not. I want to try everything out there to help my mom but am afraid that I am inadvertantly do some damage to her.
Anyone.....

I don't know your Mother's diagnosis or history, but if she has breast cancer and is under the care of an Oncologist, I STRONGLY suggest she not take ANYTHING without the Oncologist's approval. Some things will cancel ANY good she is getting from her medical treatments.
-
My mother is Stage IV, Liver mets (one 2cm spot) ER/PR ++, HER-; just started chemotherapy with Avastin.
Her oncologist gets angry everytime we talk about a complimentary or alternative treatment than what he is recommending. That is why I ask.
Thanks for responding.

I am sorry, but I am not familiar with that treatment -- I am basically new to all of this.
However, I was struck by your comment about your oncologist. My oncologist got personally offended when I asked him about alternatives too. In fact, since being diagnosed with breast cancer, I have now had to see an ob/gyn/onc about ovarian tumors that they believe are cancerous as well. That doctor too told me that a lot of doctors take it personally when you ask about alternatives because they consider it a questioning of their credentials. Thankfully, not all doctors are like this.
I will just say this. Although in love for your Mom you want to do all that you can for her, this just may not be in your power to do. By no means do I intend to discourage you, only to help offer a reflection on balancing the desire to DO something with the reality of what should be done. I know my Mom struggles to find ways to help me, but in her quest to be helpful, it can sometimes have the opposite affect.
I cannot imagine how helpless you might feel right now in helping your Mom. May I ask why you feel compelled to offer something else? Is it because you are not confident in her current treatment or are you just trying to throw everything and the kitchen sink at this disease? Just be aware that combining some of these treatments might actually interfere with each other or cause additional problems.
How does your Mom feel about it? Is she comfortable with the current treatment? Remember that no matter how much you want to help, this has to be her decision and it has to be something that she has peace with.
There are doctors who will talk to you about both, although in my own search this have proved hard to find. Is there an integrated medical center near you? Such offices combine both conventional and complimentary treatments and can help guide you on what alternative treatment may be best for you Mom in light of her current therapy. If your Mom wants to do more, I would put my search on finding a doctor who can guide you through these decisions. You shouldn't (and don't) have to figure this out on your own.
Lastly, I'll state the obvious. You cannot necessarily believe everything you read. I too am pursuing an alternative treament called Protocel. I was VERY impressed by the numerous testimonials from people who say they have been cured of cancer on this treatment, even with no other conventional methods involved. However, I reached out to people familiar with Protocel and asked them to provide me with contact info for people who have used it. I have spent the last week contatcting and talking to these people. Yes, they could be all a pack of liars,
but I have heard enough to warrant giving it a try. There is a whole community of people using this and many have made their contact info available or have created websites describing their successes here.
Bottom line? Try to find and talk to real people (just as you are doing here) to help make your decision.
All God's best to you and your Mom during this difficult time.

Mia,
Thank you for your comments. It seems like you have me all figured out. Yes i am feeling helpless and want to do anything to make this go away
My mother wants to try different things because last time she simply trusted her oncs and then when the mets were discovered, she feels cheated. Wants to try alternative treatments also.
No we dont have a facility that would help me figure out which alternative treatments would work. How did you start procotel? Did your onc help you figure out whether it's something you could take?

Dear Iloveyoumom,
My mother has clinical breast cancer. She is stage 4, and does primarily alternative treatment. Bringing the body back to balance so it can heal itself takes a multi-faceted approach. There is no one cure it all supplement that I know of. Look at the natural healing thread for some good advice on how to help the body. Cleaning the pipes is first, followed by a strict organic diet and the best alternative protocols out there. It takes dedication and faith. There are so many alternative cancer sites out there. In my opinion, if you are looking for advice on which alternatives to try, go to www.beatingcancergently.com Bill Henderson is a very knowledgeable and kind gentleman who guided me when my mom was first diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer almost 6 years ago. Blessings to you and your mom.

I think this is the link you want to try: http://www.beating-cancer-gently.com/

Sarika,
After months of searching, I have finally found an integrated medical clinic that can walk with me through my use of an alternative approach. Without being too invasive, if you tell me the state you are in, I will search with you to help find an integrated provider.
Or, you can try one of the following sites to see if they have anything for you:
http://www.holisticmedicine.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=49
http://aihcp-norfolkva.org/Within/index.html
http://www.naturopathic.org/findannd.php
http://www.aaimedicine.com/links_member_sites.php
http://www.apma.net/aahf/showarticlenew.asp?articleid=43
No, my oncologist didn't want anything to do with helping me on this journey if it did not include chemo and radiation. But the integrated medical center I am working with does and is.
The scariest thought I had was that I would have to do this alone. Being able to pull on the expert medical team I am working with has been a great relief in this area.
In terms of how I found Protocel, that was nothing but the Lord. However, just because that is the right answer for me doesn't mean it is so for others. If I can help you in anyway in finding additional resources or help, just let me know.
Thanks,
Mia

The key word to keep in mind here is "miracle"
And if this substance is made in China, I would be extremely careful about it. Your mom's onc is probably as discouraged as many are about the wealth of misinformation on the internet about cancer cures and how many people there are out there trying to make an easy dollar off of cancer patients. This is a good place to ask about these things though--many women here seems to spend most of their waking hours either researching supplements/alternatives or taking them.

Sarika,
I think miracle is a very good word to keep in mind as life itself is a miracle, so certainly the preservation of life is as well.
There can also be misinformation on the Internet as stated. The best advise is to find ways to differentiate the misinformation from the missed information. What do I mean by missed? I mean information that your doctor may not know or may be unable to share which can prove to be very effective treatments (alternative and/or complimentary) for cancer.
There does not seem to be a magic bullet - either in conventional or alternative approaches, but don't let poorly conceived biases or blind trust stop you from helping to find just the right approach for your Mom.
One thing I have been very surprised to find is that there are over 300 alternate treatments for cancer other than chemo and radiation. Yes, there will always be those who seek to profit from the misfortune of others with no regard for their healing - in conventional and alternative purveyors of cancer remedies. However, there are options beyond the conventional. I experienced great joy in realizing that. Whether you are looking at alternative solutions primarily or something complimentary with conventional treatment, please know that there are options available for you.
I have a Chinese colleague who I have asked about this particular treatment and she will let me know what she finds out. When she does, I will post it here.
Be encouraged!

Keep in mind, most oncologists have their patients in one study or another, and if you are using anything other than what he has prescribed, it invalidates that study. And they have also heard all the wives tales of cures found on the net, etc... I agree that a good site is http://www.beating-cancer-gently.com/ where Bill Henderson helped guide my wife through breast cancer, stage 3a, lobular cancer. She is currently cancer free, after a year and a half, and, might I add, she also had a mastectomy. Her blood work is clear, and her CT scans are clear. Take a look at the site, and see if it makes sense, Bill makes no money off of the supplements he suggests. and he is quite knowledgable.

Iloveyoumom - I checked out the link you provided and read the testimonials of the bc patients and even allowing for language differences, the product doesn't seem to be anything special. I then searched around the internet for more info and came across this:
http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/default.asp?page=5059
It makes some interesting points, but also says that there's no evidence that it causes harm (except for some mild side effects).
Good luck,
Cynthia
