First illness since surgery

Boy, it's been a while since I have posted to the boards.  Everything has been going along smoothly.  I do have my first wicked cold since having a double lumpectomy and I am noticing a super tenderness under my arm on the side that I had my surgery on.  They took a few lymph nodes to test at the time of my surgery and all came back clear.  Is it normal to have this tenderness?

    Thanks!

    Hi, Bethany,

A cold won't cause problems with axillary nodes.

Tenderness under the arm and feeling sick could possibly be an early sign of shingles, though.

Sorry you're feeling under the weather. I have had 4 viral illnesses since surgery in October!

Bethany--I get tenderness from time to time--in fact it seems to have gotten worse over time.  My doctor says it's normal.  I should say though that in my first year (now in second) I constantly got colds and very bad coughs and they would last for weeks.   I suppose my immune system was shot from chemo and herceptin.  I did make sure that this year I got a flu shot, and so far, knock wood, I'm doing fine.  Unless your tenderness is very bad, it may just be the result of the nerves that were cut during surgery.
