I ran into an interesting webpage today and thought I would share. It is directions on how to make and inexpensive prosthesis out of millet (birdseed!). I am thinking about making one myself because I still haven't managed to get a knitty titty made.

    Instructions for a Millet Prosthesis

When I was doing my reconstruction I make a prosthesis with rice to try out and see what size I thought would be right.

I put the rice into a stocking and checked it all out, and then I forgot about it.

About a year later I notice these little round bugs in my bedroom.  I'm not a slob, but we live in a southern area and I'd have to turn my house into a toxic site to get rid of them all, so I didn't think that much about it.

A few months go by and the bugs are beyond just little guests, so I started digging deep. There at the bottom of my nightie drawer was that rice prosthesis - and the source of my bugs!

So I caution you to know where your millet prosthesis is because little critters will be looking for it if you don't!

I also made a temporary one with rice.  I did think about bugs and possible moisture issues so put it in a snack size baggie and surrounded with batting.  Weighted nicely and worked pretty well.

LOL ROSE!!!! Talk about the creepy crawlies!  I remember reading a long time ago that if you put dry products like rice, flour, cornmeal, etc into the freezer for a couple of weeks it will kill any larvae that may be present. I would think a quick "zap" in the microwave might do the trick, too.

We have birds; one time I opened up a brand new container of bird seed and noticed the "seeds" were....m-o-v-i-n-g! EEK!!

I'm sure the whole bug thing is even worse in Texas.

I keep my bird's seed in a plastic container so if anything hatches it stays there.
