I was dx May 1, 2007  with Invasice carcinoma (NOS) medullary, ER/PR+. Had mammosite radiation, and 6 chemo treatments of cytoxan, Adriamycin and Taxtere (TAC). Chemo ended October 2006.  All tests (mammograms and MRIs) appear to be normal. Have had two MRIs, checking something in the left breast. Thirs MRI scheduled for Monday February 11.  Have an achey pain in left breast from underarm to left side of left breast for going on three weeks. Appointment with surgeon February 18. Had pain previously, but only for a short time, then no pain for several months, now the pain has stayed. Previously, surgeon stated nothing to be concerned about, that is what she said about the lump in April 2006, which turned out to be cancer.  Is this pain in the left breast anything to be concerned about?  Just wondering if anyone else had anything similiar. Am now on Aromasin.  Any reassurance would be thankful.  Joycie

Which side was your original bc? I ask because I have developed some pain around the sites of my lumpectomy and axillary dissection. There are no lumps and I've been both mammoed and MRIed sicn I started having it with nothing showing up. I've read on-line that pain can show up years after breast surgery,

There are plenty of explanations -- hormones messing with your breast, a pulled muscle, strain from teh way you are carrying your body post-bc (even if your cancer was on the other side). You are right to get it checked out but I bet it is nothing to be concerned about.

Thank you.  I thought that it might be nothing, but I do intend to ask my surgeon about it. My bc was on the right breast and the left breast is the one with the pain.

My bc was on the left side. I've had my lumpectomy, radiation treatment, and have had 2 three-month followup visits with my surgeon and onc and the imaging center did a 6-month baseline mammogram and ultrasound on the left side. Now my home town clinic is writing to tell me it's time for my annual mammogram and I just threw the paper away. Now I'm getting pain in the right breast and underarm is swollen and am realizing nobody has talked about checking the right breast.  Have any of you had this other poor lonely breast fall through the cracks like that? I think I'll call my onc *(3.5 hours away) Monday and make an appointment for a mammo. Should I go to my local hospital, or to the imaging center?
