Need a little support

Hi ladies,
You are all wonderfully supportive people and I am turning to you now for some. My Dad passed away last night. It wasn't unexpected, but it still kicks you a little when it happens. My Mom passed away 17 years ago, so my sister and I were all he had. He was a very quiet man and spent the last seven years in a nursing home. I didn't get over to see him as much as I should have and I am feeling a tad guilty about that. I never told him I was dxed with BC. I didn't feel he needed to know that. I was lucky in that I had no outward signs that so many of you suffer through, so he couldn't tell. I am just feeling down and I know you all understand that.
Thanks for listening.

Anne, I'm so sorry. I hope you and your sister can support each other through this loss, and hang on to happy memories.
best,
Ann

Anne, we are here for you. Losing a parent is hard. I remember when my mom lost my grandma, she said "I am all alone now" At first I thought, What the heck are we? (4 children) shredded wheat?? she just felt isolated for a while.
My mom is a huge part of my life. She is my boys caregiver 5 days a week.
Anyhow, it is not about me..you will be okay. Your dad is pain free now.
Take care.

So sorry to hear of you dad's passing, Anne. Yes, it's a deep, soul shaking kick that one feels with a parent's loss.
My dad is in a nursing home about 500 some miles away, near his sister and my sister. So I appreciate how one feels when you don't pop over every week or so, yet do visit off and on over the year.
I did share my cancer diagnosis with him, and regret doing so. He's suffered enough with just age and the move to the nursing home, and while I try to support him and keep him going, it's a hard time in his life.
I'll think of you tonight and tomorrow Anne, sharing your heartache some.
Tender -
Thank you all. I knew you would understand.

Anne, I'm sorry about the loss of your dad. It's always a jolt to the system even when it is not unexpected. My mother is in an assisted living facility and I don't see her as often as I should but I see her as often as I can. You and your sister will get each other through this difficult time.
