Six Years Ago Today...

...I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Wow. Has it been that long already? Seems like I would never have a moment without bc foremost in my mind. Had it not been for the oncology appointments, I might have just forgotten about it all (yeah, right!)
Then, four months ago it happened again. It shouldn't be like that! But I do count myself among the very "lucky" that both my cancers were Stage 1. If that's as bad as cancer gets for me, I can handle it.
And, since I've had this "do-over" as my onc calls it, I'm not a six year survivor, according to the stats. But I am a six year survivor, to me! And a four month survivor, too. Oh, who cares, really. I'm a survivor--twice over--and that's what counts.
Thanks to all my sisters here for helping me survive the last six years.

Yeah Anne, and all the best to you.
-
Anne, you rock! And yea, you are a survivor! All the best to you!
-
Hi another Anne,
Congratulations on six years out, and I know you'll be posting six years from now as a double survivor. Great for you.
-
Yes!!! That is great Anne!! I wish you many many more healthy years ahead!!
Hugs,
Lexi

We and the boards have really changed Anne, since you and I came here.
You are an amazing addition here and offer a wealth of support and information to us all.
Blessings on you----survivor!

Six year survivor, plus four months, times 10 with no more do overs, that's what you'll be. How's that for statistics?? See you in 60 plus years..
Congratulations!! You are an "amazing addition here", as are you iodine.

Anne,
Congratulations on your 6 year anniversary! I am so sorry to hear about the do-over! But thank goodness you caught it early. I bet the "moving beyond" is much much easier (and faster) this go round than the last!
I remember when you came on these boards. I think I had only been on them about 6 months. So much as changed since then. It seems like once Marci Beth, Stacey, and Shirley were on the Today Show the number of women on the boards grew larger than I would have ever realized.
Hugs,
Debbie

Oh, my oldie sisters are here!! So good to see your names and hear your voices again.
I think about Marcie Beth often, anyone hear from her? I'm thinking she ran off to Vegas to be Barry manilow's groupie!
And I so miss our Sunshine Stacey.
Sierra, I'll raise a glass of wine to us tonight!
I agree, the Today show with you gals was a turning point in bc.org's history. We've got something special here.
Hugs to all,
Anne

Anne,
Congrats! I am also glad that you found the second cancer at stage 1. You are a double survivor! I wish you all the best. I will also be six years since diagnosis in October. I still have a ways to go! I see some of the old names and alot of new ones. Its amazing! Best to you!

Those memories flood back, don't they? To the day of your diagnosis...wondering if you would outrun the beast, survive the treatments, stay emotionally grounded. Clearly your sisters support here at bc.org was like a rudder on a boat, helping you steer through choppy waters. I'm sorry some along the path are not present with you today, so too, to celebrate their survival.
Breast cancer twice over, landing sunny side up, as a rainbow in your storm. Congratulations Anne! Your contribution here is a gift to us all, helping sisters to similarly reach their personal milestones with your in-depth knowledge and powerful support. Our mutual goal: effecting cures for all stages of breast cancer and communal support in the present.
Have a joyous day.
