I know its not Friday yet and I missed last weeks posting but did read here...

Im having some issue with finding the positive in life tonight so thought maybe if I came here I might be forced to find one....

As some of you probably have read Cy passed away last night...she lives across the state from me and we became friends through this site....when things like this happen to good people I find it hard to see a positive in it...but I am thankful that she is now at peace....

I hope that you all are doing well and that you post many, many positives for you week...

    Hugs

It is always painful to hear of another lovely breast cancer sister succumbing to this awful beast. I am so sorry.  Frown

My positive for the week is ---- I finished my daily lympho treatments and will see my LT one a week for a couple of weeks.

My arm isn't exactly better, but I am going to keep working on it and will keep it wrapped for a while.

I'm also going to try to find a swimming pool to help my lympho and my cardiac issues.

Everyone needs to drop by and let us know your positives!!!

Hey Lori,   I did a pineapple doily 30 years ago.  Blocked it in sections on my ironing board and simply used normal spray starch.  I've moved 10 times since then, and simply folded it in quarters and put it in a drawer.  When at the new house, unfolded it and put it on the table.  Never had to reblock it.

Now I've given it to a cousin who loves that type of thing (*grin*).  FYI: I also found a crochet pattern for lace edging.  Used that with cotton package string and a larger hook, and used it for crochetted curtain tiebacks.  They looked great.

Keep up the tiny work.  It's such a good portable hobby -- when hook and thread and project all fit in a zip-lock in my purse.  the biggest thing is the pattern.

Janet, I make the snowflake Christmas tree ornaments with the fine thread and steel hooks. I actually wrote the directions on a 3x5 index card that would fit into the ziplock bag, with the directions facing out, I don't have to remove the directions while I am working and they stay clean. I use the product by Plaid called 'Stiffy' to block my snowflakes, it makes them stiff as a board and they won't melt year after year on the tree. I also make the Angels, but they are more intensive to crochet and harder to follow the pattern so I do those at home.

    Hey everyone,

I had a bilateral on 12/4/08 with 8 nodes removed.  I too was positive.  My family thought that there was something wrong with me.  Biopsy, surgery, tests were a breeze with faith.  It's the chemo that's hard.  I'm still positive and thank God for websites like this.  Best of wishes to everyone and if anyone wishes to talk don't hesitate to comment.
    Good Luck to everyone!!!Cool

Dancer, I also had bilat last june with 4 nodes from each side. my nodes were negative but I had DCIS. I always try to look at the positive side of things. I had previous problems and was just waiting for the shoe to drop and the dx of DCIS was actually a relief that I could now do something proactive instead of reactive.

    Keep thinking positive

    Hello All.

My hubby and I had a great time in California seeing the sights and visiting friends and relatives. While we were in San Francisco I saw this saying in the art for sale on the wall of the little cafe where we have breakfast most of the time. A day or two later I saw the artist on the street and got the Fridge magnet sized version. "Good morning! This is God, I will be in charge of all your problems today I will not need your help. So have a wonderful day..." There's the saying plus a little water color of a big Sun, the Golden Gate Bridge, and sailboats.

One of the best parts of the trip was seeing my relatives and friends. I got to see all three of my brother's grandkids. The two boys were at his house when we got there and we made a side trip to Sacramento to see the girl.

Even though we had fun, it is nice to be home and sleeping in my own bed.

I hope you all have a good weekend.

    Until next time.

Hi, girls.  I don't know why I haven't posted here before as I'm about as positive as you can get without being in lala land. Wink

It is hard to follow that news about AlaskaDeb with something upbeat.  Seems almost sacreligious, doesn't it?  Well, we have to be positive for her and send all positive energy to her and stay by her side.  Gee, I don't even know her and I feel protective.  I don't discount the power of prayer, sending energy, etc.  Cannot hurt.

Hoping to pop in here often to enjoy your life stories.

It is hard to hear about Alaska Deb. I am sending positive thoughts her way and praying for her.

I do have some positive from the weekend, My son called from the Persian Gulf over the weekend. I had not heard his voice since Thanksgiving weekend. We communicate with emails while he is on deployment. He hopes to be home the middle of May for 10 days.

Yes ladies it is hard to hear about what is happening for Deb. I think when something like this happens to someone we are so familiar with here that it makes us step back and take a look at the possibilities of all this for ourselves.....and hell, it just plain scares us!!!!

It seems that this past couple of months here have been rough with the loss of Cy and others finding that their treatments arent working and making the decision to end treatment, ladies finding new hurdles thrown at them daily it seems......when is it going to end? With our technology today in the medical realm it seems that something more can and should be done....

All this bad news has made me want to stop coming to the board but I find I cant do that.....I care and want to be of help to someone who is new and so very scared of what they are facing so I continue to come here....

I have decided that Im going to BE POSITIVE for all of us and even more so for those of us that are going through trying times!!!!!!

There is a thread started to shower Deb with cards and if any of you ladies would like to send one I have her address so pm and I will give it to you....

Hope all is well with everyone....Sheila, very glad to hear that you spoke with your son and May will be here soon so you can see him...

Tina-Welcome to our little corner of the board here!!!!!!

Debbie-Glad to hear your trip went well and that you relaxed and enjoyed!!!! Ya, it is nice to go away but it sure feels nice to hit your own bed when you get home,

Lori-April will be here before you know it so, hang tight your almost there :)

Miss S-it is awful about Deb but you can be assured our thoughts and prayers are with her every second of the day.....

Wishing everyone a wonderful week....hope you all find the time to post as we need to stick together girls!!!!

    Hugs

    Hello everyone,

I'm sorry to hear about Alaska Deb. I've enjoyed many of her posts, especially on the panty thread that Joan of Ardmore started a few months ago. I don't know where Deb found such funny pictures. I'm sorry to hear about Cy, too, but I haven't come across her much.

I had a very good week. I started out on Monday with an early doctor's appointment. It was my 3-month check up for diabetes. The nurse called Tuesday with the test results and my A1c and cholesterol counts are all lower than they were in December. Also, I tipped the scale at a few pounds less than I did in December. Next up on the health front are appointments on the 18th with both the rad onc and med onc.

I had a nice massage on Tuesday. On Thursday, my neighbor treated me to lunch in honor of my birthday a couple of weeks ago. In April, I have to remember to return the favor.

I was back to water aerobics 3 times this week.

I changed my avatar to a picture with my great niece. She turned 1 year old in early Feb, and I got to meet her on our vacation.

    Debbie

I love your new avatar!!!!!! Your smile is wonderful and that little girl, what a joy!!!!

Myself, Ive had a busy week with work and our weather has warmed so Ive been busy working in my rose beds....I think spring is just around the corner so am excited to start spending more time outside.

I am taking tomorrow for a play day and heading up to the ski resort about 40 miles from here as I learned to snow board earlier in the season and realized that I absolutely love it...not many weekends left to go for this season though as the local resort closes the last weekend of March :(...

Hope everyone had a wonderful week!!!

Hi everyone.  I was so worried about Vickie losing her electric yesterday and then we lost ours last night around 7 PM until 3 PM today!  There was a lot of heavy rain followed by high winds and it was a mess all over the Philly and South Jersey area as I am sure Valerie will attest to!

I had a very stressful week on the home front and understand many of you have too.  I told Puppy and Vickie about my niece and nephew and my babysitting adventure this past week and maybe it will make someone smile here too. (BTW, I am cutting and pasting this post for saving time in case we lose power again!)

My sil's father had a heart attack on Monday and she asked me if I would watch the kids in the late afternoon, get them dinner and to bed while she was at the hospital.  He had a cardiac cath and they put stints in (Nicki, this is where you explain about stints to me!!).  So I took care of Emily, 6, and Jake, 4 1/2.  One night, he tells me he has to go to the bathroom and he would call me when he was finished.  OK, I go take care of Emily but get distracted in the other room.  Emily calls me to come to the kitchen.  There is Jake, one sock on and a t-shirt and naked butt all covered in you-know-what and he is eating the dog's kibble.  It looks like those Combos snacks.  He looks up at me with those saucer blue eyes and the dimple and clefted chin and who could get mad?  He thought it was the same snack and told me later they didn't taste too good.  Guess not!  I am gettign too old for this!

Anyway, her father is back home and feeling better.  They have a nurse coming to get him settled as of last night but who knows with this storm.  They live right near a PA State Park with a huge lake and I am sure it overflowed.  Luckily they don't have too many problems with it.

so, tomorrow is a new week, fill #6 and thank God for Xanax and Vicodin.  I am sending lots of love to all my dear sisters and brother out there.  Hoping this week will be looking up for us all.

Beth, I love that babysitting story! Too funny!

Jule, I hope you have fun playing hooky and ski boarding! That sounds like a plan.

Debbie, congrats on losing weight. I really need to do that and two different doctors have told me to get in a pool. I need to take the time to find one and to buy myself a swim boob!

Lori, glad to hear you're finishing Herceptin soon. One of my local BC friends only has one more infusion to go! Getting to the end of treatment is such a joy!

I went to the oncologist on Friday and got my blood drawn. She said if anything is wrong they will call me or send me a letter. I'm hoping all is well. She (I saw a PA) said my onc may be giving me PET scans every six months, she is not sure. She said she is also trying to decide if she wants to do CT scans and bone scans as well. So it looks like I have one of those oncs who does not wait til you get symptoms to scan. that is fine with me, I think.

My positive for this week is I visited with three different friends over the weekend! I have a terrible problem staying in touch! So I feel good about touching base with some women I care about!

    Love you all,

    Miss S

Here it is another week, I almost forgot to post Embarassed.

I spoke with Lori this week. She is about a 30 mile drive from me and we decided to touch base with the phone for now until gas prices go down.

I saw my PS this week and they are happy with the tattoos but they do need a little bit of touch ups. I will be going April 17 for the touch-ups. I also got the check from him that paid me back for the deposit I paid last May since the appeal finally came through and the insurance paid him.

Beth, that was a funny story about taking care of the kids for a while. It proably wasn't as funny for you while you were going through it. I'm glad you survived to tell us about it. When I went to my Brother's house last month, he would sit toys next to me on the couch so he could get a shot of me with one or both his grandsons. It worked for one pic, but another one looked like I was deep in thought about something dire and the boy wasn't smiling either. Oh well at least we got a couple of good shots.

Miss S, I hope your scans had good results. I guess if they say they'll send a letter they aren't too worried. Seeing friends is always good. I saw some friends in person when we were in California, and a face to face meeting is so much better than exchanging emails or other internet contact.

Sheila, I hope Lori is doing okay. Woo Hoo! The insurance came through. It's good to have that off your mind. Those of you that had reconstruction have had a long haul. it must feel good to be almost finished.

As of today winter is over in Austin. It's over 90 here today. Of course I jumped the gun a bit and wore my shorts yesterday morning. It was in the 50s and 60s, but with the breeze and clouds it didn't feel warm at all until the afternoon when the sun came out and it warmed up to the mid 70s. Today was a different story. It was sunny from the start and felt great.

On our little shopping trip lunch outing yesterday, I found a rolling duffle bag at Garden Ridge for only $9.99 as well as a couple of other ad items. I had never seen such a mountain of clothing. They had scrubs in one huge pile and the sweats, Ts, and shorts in another. There was no organization at all. I felt lucky to find one sweatshirt top that I liked that fit. I may go back after people have picked through it to see if I can find something else. The sweatshirt came in handy; I put in on as soon as we left the store.

Next Tuesday I have my check up with the med onc and rad onc as well as lab work.

    See you next week.

Well ladies I had a good week and am glad to hear the everyone else basically did too..

Im heading snowboarding again tomorrow as I want to get all the time in that I can since winter is just about over here....although I checked the report at the ski lodge and they received 10 more inches of snow yesterday and were expecting a few more....some weird storms have blown in and dropped the temp again but things are very well saturated!!!! had been raining for two days now....

I had an appt with my primary Wensday and she added another blood pressure pill to the mix as the old formula wasnt keeping it low enough...she said that tamox is known to raise blood pressure...she also ordered a complete fasting blood panel for 3wks...I have issues with not obsorbing b-12 through normal means and have been feeling extrememly tired and having numbness in my hands so she thinks the level has dropped again....Im hoping not as when it does I have to take shots weekly until it comes back up and it takes forever!!!!

Have had alot of aches and pains lately but I think it is really a mixture of two things......there is an awful flu going around here and I had a 99.8 fever Wensday so Im either trying to fight off the yukky stuff or I have talked myself into symptoms of "c", I find that if I read here too much I start feeling some of the symptoms of potential return of the nasty stuff....I know,  I know, its all in my head but I guess its just the way things will be now....Ive stopped reading the rougher threads and staying to the happier ones in hopes that it will put me back in a better place with all that.....I also have 6 months followups coming in May so I think thats in the back of my mind a little too....

On a better note....I worked in my rose gardens last weekend....I was surprised to see the buds beginning already....it seemed a little cool at night yet but they are growing like crazy anyway. My daffodils are just about in bloom and the crocuss down the street are beautifully colored this...

Will check back to see how the rest of our crew here has made out for the week...

    Hugs

    Hi Everyone!

Debbie, I didn't hear anything back about my bloodwork, so I'm assuming it was fine!

I would post a positive here, but I am just so overcome with grief at all the gals we have lost from the boards lately. So young.... too young. I just hate it so much!

I want to join your club also.  I have tried to stay positive from day one and will continue to do so.  Yes I have cried several times, don't get me wrong. But I feel I'm still much better off than a lot of other poeple.  Friday night I went out and had drinks with some of my girl friends.  This photo
shows hows I was beaming which goes with my name I always sign...

    Welcome to the Club Sandy,

I would have rather met you for other reasons but hey whatever brings new friends to our lives makes us fortunate in someways...

So since your the "new" girl....tell us about yourself? Work, family, hobbies, ya know, all the normal stuff :)...

By the way I love your picture....you have a beautiful smile.

We try to get here each Friday to post our positives for the week, but as you can see this past couple of weeks have been a downer for us as we have lost several friends to the "beast"......

Give us a little time to recoup and we will be back in the swing of things being chatty and joking with each other....

Hope to see you here often...it really does help to post, especially if you commit to this thread...I found some weeks I really couldnt find much to be positive about but I would sit and think of something to post and found that there is always a positive somewhere in the negatives.

Im about 16 months out now and life in mostly back to normal, but I still enjoy posting, trying to help new people that are just beginning their journey here and visiting with my friends here.

    Hugs

Great picture, Sandy. There's always room for more here. It's great that you can enjoy a night out with friends. We all need to have these little "normal" things to keep us going.

I was diagnosed in Dec of 2006 so I'm going on 15 months of surviving now. Things are pretty much back to normal for me, too.

Hope to see you again next week.

Sandy, welcome to the club nobody wants to join, there is always room for one more. I was dx April 2006 so I am just coming up on my one yr anniversary. I had my mammo the day after Easter that showed abnormal and for the next 3 months it was crazy with tests, dr appointments, and surgery.  I got the call April 27 that it was early DCIS and after surgery was declared cancer free but still worry about things.

Hold on for the ride of your life.

Hi fellow PGC's!  Hard to be positive this morning as the pain from the fill is getting worse the longer I post.  The internet is kind of iffy today as our phone lines are messed up.  But we are getting FIOS on April 1st so things will be looking up!

Welcome to all the new PGC's.  Sandy, that picture is awesome!

Sheila, the last surgery I had to replace the empty space where the implant was with an expander they found early DCIS as well.  good thing I was already in the throes of the PBM.  Can you believe it will be a year this May since I started with all of this?  But....I am hear to tell you about it!!  So here is to wishing everyone a good week ahead.  Back to bed with me with my Vicodin and Flexoril and Aleve!

    Hi to all of you.

The check ups with my med oncologist and rad oncologist went just fine on Tues. My blood counts were good, as always, even during the midst of chemo they dropped only slightly. I guess I was blessed with strong blood.

I had a great time eating out for lunch nearly every day. The hubby and I stopped at a Chinese place for lunch on Tues. after my appointments. They give such large portions that we took home enough to have for supper.

Weds. was the lunch for my water aerobics group. There were only 8 of us there, but we always have a great time.

Thurs my neighbor and I had lunch at a Japanese place, HaiKu, that has been open for just a few months here. The Tempura was great; next time I'll have to try something else. I think Sushi is their specialty. I had printed out a coupon off of the Citysearch site and we both got dessert free.

Today, I over slept and missed my water class. The hubby and I started out on our shopping trip a bit earlier. I found a cute dress at Ross after trying on 4 swimsuits that didn't work on me. The one I liked the best had these molded cups for the bra. I must say that I could only fill about half of each cup. Then there was another one that had an underwire. It didn't seem to lay quite right on me. Oh well, I don't need a new suit right away and can wait till something goes on sale.

I hope you all have a good holiday weekend Passover or Easter, which ever one you celebrate.
