I'm sorry you guys haven't heard from me.  Thanks for keeping after me.  I need to call the Park man back.  The latest is he wants me to drive to DC for a meeting.  Well, it's a 5 1/2 hour drive, so I don't think that will happen. I need to try to schedule a phone conference with him (via Sheila the secy).  What that mtg and/or phone conference will involve is HUGE.  So many details that, quite frankly, I'm overwhelmed.  The biggest detail is that either we March this June 22nd of 2008 or we have to wait and resubmit a permit for exactly a year before whatever date we pick for 2009.  They won't let us schedule prior to a year ahead of time.

I've emailed a couple of the gals, and along with my thoughts, we think it might be a better idea to wait until 2009.  The amount of planning is overwhelming and will take a long time to put together.  Of course, if we just want a couple of people to get together this June, that is possible.  But if we want to be heard and seen and make an impact, I think we should wait.

Please, please weigh in with your thoughts and ideas.

First and foremost, if we decide to go with 2009, we need to be very specific about a date.  Then we need to be very specific about whether we will be in one spot or actually marching in a specific route.  The Park man has to know all the specific details of the route, time of gathering, length of march, how many people expected, how much time needed to set up, will we have displays, will PA system be needed, who will clean up, will security be needed, who's in charge, etc.  He specifically needs to know the route of the March, as parts of the Park actually belong to the City of DC and that has to be coordinated with the City if traffic interruption will be an issue.  It all gets a little complicated. Tongue out

So, please, jump right in and tell me what to do!!

    love you guys,

    Bren

PS - Lori .. thinking about you everyday.

    Bren,

Thank you so much for working so diligently! I'm still willing to refine whatever design you choose for a ribbon; just let me know!

The ladies on the  club mets list are putting together an email and letter writing campaign to make some noise about finding a cure. We're trying to nail down a single day and compiling a list of people to send the emails to (congresspeople, candidates, etc). We are going to ask friends and family and anyone with an interest to join in sending a flood of messages. I'll come back here and keep you guys posted about the plans in case you want to join us.

2009 does allow for much better organization and planning. I am just thrilled that you're making progress! With the letter writing campaign happening in 2008, we'll still be making some noise and causing at least a few to take notice.

    (((HUGS))))

    Diane,

I love your designs.  What can I do to help with your letter writing campaign??  We still have some time to get things going with the March.  Once we can finally pick a date for 2009 ....

What thread are you posting about your letter writing campaign?  I can sure as hell find the time to write a damn fine letter!!

    Hugs back at you,

    Bren

Can anyone tell me the current status of the March?  I've heard it moved to March 2008, but I can't find any further info.  I live near Washington DC and I have a support group.  We would like to participate if it is still on.  CJ

I believe that it is looking like 2009 but no date has been set yet.  Someone correct me if I'm giving out wrong info.  Bren?

    Sorry I've been MIA.

Just talked to Park lady.  This is the latest.  We need to submit a new application exactly one year from the date we pick in 2009, along with a new fee.

So, if we like a date in May (or early summer), we better get busy and pick one, so we can get it reserved for us.

Also, the fee I sent in is not refundable.  I chuckled when she told me that.  I said to "Sheila," So, I can consider it a donation?  She in turned chuckled and said, "If you'd like"  Apparently the fine print says Nonrefundable cancellation fee.  I like to think of it as a charitable donation to a wonderful park in DC!!

So, lets try to get a date we can all agree on and get ready to file a new application!!

    Thanks for all the support!!!

Late May to Mid-June before it gets unbearably hot and late enough in the school year that families with school-agers could still make it.  I'm not concerned whether it's a Saturday vs. Sunday.  My faith goes with me everyday.

Thanks for all your work, Bren.

    Hi Yellow Rose,

I was leaning towards the earliest of June when most kids are out of school too.  Maybe families would be able to plan a vacation around that time.

Thanks for keeping on top of everything!!

This is wonderful!  Please keep me in the loop.  We need to wake up our gov't to all that is going on with this dreaded disease.  ALso, we need to inform and educate people that not all BC shows up in Mammograms and ultrasounds.  At age 37, I was shocked to discover mine.  I have a sisiter who works for the planning dept of DC.  I don't know what kind of help or info she can give, but will be happy to get her thoughts/opinions/suggestions on anything.  Please count me in for this!
